Basketball Lot Came My Way

In my continuing trade posting of my latest one with Shane, sorry I am stretching it out some as I need some posts to keep going with, we are tackling all kinds of my PC's.

Today we take a gander at a basketball lot that Shane snagged for me. I will say though, this isn't all of the lot. I pulled three cards from it to save for another day.

This lot hits the spot in my favorite era of collecting in the 90's which is between 1995-1999.

I was impressed how many of these I haven't seen before. I collected quite a bit 90's basketball and from a variety of brands and thought I have seen it all til now. 

I really enjoyed this lot. What I haven't mentioned yet was that Shane also passed along some of his own basketball stuff to, which once again, I will save for a rainy day.

Nuttin' But The Hits:2015 Panini Contenders Draft Picks Hobby Box (1/1 Auto!!)

I have had such a drag year when it comes to being able to open wax. With flippers cleaning off retail shelves, my hobby funds falling, and no reviews incoming, opening up anything hasn't been easy.

Shane felt my pain so he offered to trade me a box so I could have something to rip. And rip I did.

Today's box is a 2015 Panini Contenders Draft Picks featuring the top players of the draft on the front. Well, at the time it was believed to be that. I still haven't given up on Winston yet. I think the Saints will be a great place for him to learn how to be a great NFL QB. Watch out for that when Drew retires.

I was just hoping for a good veteran auto.

New Griffeys

It wouldn't be a trade between Shane and myself if it didn't include some form of Ken Griffey Jr cards. Shane has always been the bomb when it comes to finding Griffeys I need. Plus, I usually get first dibs on any of this Cheap Wax Wednesday Griffey finds.

Besides the few he has set aside he won't let go. Some day....some day.

This recent batch included more than I show here but I just wanted to show a handful of them,

Opening Day, Leaf, Vintage are among those in this section. It's amazing how many base cards I need still, but when he has over 15,000 cards, it becomes less surprising.

Awesome Dugout Collection parallel. These fell 1:3 packs and feature a bronze foil.

Interesting. Great throwback photo and cool collectible. At least it's in its own page and I won't have to worry about storage.

More From The Shane Box

Before I start today's post, I will begin with a Happy Birthday to my mom who turns...well...older today. I know she won't read this as I have told the story many times of her dislike of card collecting, but overall, she's my mom.

So the next part of my mail day I am showing off from Shane is a small section of cards I found included in a white box that was within the big Priority box that caught my attention.

First up, a Colin Powell rookie card. I never knew this existed but it's pretty cool.

1971 Flashbacks. I had no idea that Starbucks has been around this long. It makes me feel sheltered in my childhood.

I think I have a couple of these, but I love the First Pitch cards. It was a great lineup for Topps for a few years. Though I think they should have kept the design the same for all of them so it could have been one continuing series with the product.

It's good to see a company get creative like this. Which is why I enjoyed Opening Day when they included foods at ballparks and other fun parts of baseball we don't always think about finding as a card.

 

The final card I am showing off is a teaser to a lineup of 90's football inserts I will be showing off I got in this trade as well. This one here combines two great QB's who liked to both throw and take off on the ground.

Much more to come from this mail day as I am stretching it out to fill in some days on here. As I said a few days ago, I don't have much incoming so the further I can stretch each mail day, the more posts I can get in on here to continue the blog.

Episode 19: Ripping A Box 1996 Zenith Football

I recently made a big trade with my friend and fellow 90's wax buster Shane. He is the one who runs the Cheap Wax Wednesday and Other Stuff where he breaks boxes that cost under $50 from 80's, 90's and today.

In my trade, I not only got some set help along with some sweet singles,I will show off on here, I  was also able to land some boxes of stuff from 1995-1999 that I will bust and show off on here as well.

One of my main wants in the trade when it came to busting boxes was to help myself out with some sets I was building. That's where this 1996 Zenith football box comes in.

Ripping a 24 pack box of 1996 Zenith football gives me the sensation that I am back at the card show with my father ripping it again and the time I pulled an Emmitt Smith Z-Team that everyone at the show wanted but I wasn't willing to give. Each of these blast from the past memories is $25 and so, so worth it.

Check out the paper insert, I was hoping for a Rookie Rising card.

The base set is one I have been dying to build over the years and will see how close I am after I update my numbers after this rip.

Two new Noteworthy for my set chase. Such a beauty. Zenith knew inserts and these fell 1:12 packs

 

And boom, my Rookie Rising card that falls 1:24 packs. That's pure dufex gold right there! Also a new one for my set chase.

Once again, this was worth it's $25. I could bust these over and over again. I think this is my third rip of it since my childhood. I just don't ever get tired of it.
