My Only Custom

There is nothing more fun then digging through boxes of random stuff and discovering items you forgot about.

Today's post is just that as I found my first and only ever custom card I put together in a shoe box of paperwork. Not the most ideal place for it, but I must have just tossed it aside and it got lost in the stack.

Now, unlike the rest of you bloggers you are pros at this game, mine was simply put together by hand. I believe Upper Deck held a contest 5 years ago on their Facebook page for fans to create a "new product" by designing their own cards so this was the best I could do.....

 

 

I took it appears a white filler card, colored it black, cut out an NHL logo from a magazine and a picture of Alex Ovechkin off from an Upper Deck pack and put it together. I think I called it UD Black Ice. I thought the player looking shiny was the "Ice" part of it. 

 

I think it looks cool, but definitely no pro look to it. Probably why I lost out on the contest too haha.

2016 Yard Sale Find Part 3

Part 3 of the yard sale find was actually pretty good. I could see from a distance, I know you can to, that there were some bright white colored cards and some darker ones. To me that meant, newer stuff vs older stuff. So should be fun to break down.

That newer stuff, 2008-2009 Ultra hockey. I was expecting all base, but I was wrong.

There were rookie cards and even gold medallion rookies. The rookies were Sp's in the set.

Here were the best of them.

And even more Ultra Gold Medallions.

There were also TONS of inserts and star players like Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin.

And finally, more of those 1992 Fleer baseball star players.

 

Part 3 was pretty good and Part 4, the finale, was just as good if not better. Guess you will have to wait til I publish that to see...

Panini Unveils Even More For Their 2013 Father's Day Promo!

Panini every other day is unveiling more and more of the cards you will be able to find in their Fathers Day wrapper redemption promo as we are creeping closer and closer to Father's Day. There are some incredible cards to find in this promo that should drive you out to the shops to pick up some.

 

 

 

I really like the Lava parallels as in the Jaden Schwartz above and the artsy autograph appeal to the one next to it.

 

 

I have always been a fan of Pro Bowl game jerseys. You just don't see them included into may products. The Brandon Knight card above as you can tell from the image is pretty sweet! Especially since its a piece of game worn shoe!!

 

This years NFL draft may be weak but the cards are not. Just look above at these two images of Bruce Taylor and Lane Johnson. Then look at this incredible Geno Smith swatch:

Panini proves time and time again why they are the leader in sports cards right now. These amazing promos help drive us to the shops which helps keep the hobby going.

I personally may not have an LCS nearby, but I am going to drive a few hours away to one to participate. I will also post how I did from the packs as well.
