A Generous Mail Day From SCA

Last week I was tagged in a Twitter post to watch a video break of 2016 Absolute football that Sports Card Album had opened. I have known Sports Card Album for awhile now since I started blogging and he was running the Busting Packs Blog and from the Beckett forums as well.

So well over 4 years.

Well, anyways, the card that was pulled in the break was this beautiful Odell Beckham Jr.
Which I had commented that it was and said it would be awesome PC card to add.

He then asked for my info as he wanted to see the card be in a true fans hand which I was blown back by and this card arrived earlier this week along with a few other sweet surprises.

Here are those other surprises.

A Triple Threats jersey card of three top WR rookies for my rookie card PC.

Then the Top pick of the 2016 draft jersey card. I didn't own any of him either. So a nice addition to tuck away in my rookie card collection. Hopefully we will see him soon.

And finally, a sick Griffey jersey card I didn't have for my Griffey PC. Marking Griffey Jr number 836 and maybe jersey card # 10. I don't have many memorabilia cards of him.

A huge, huge thank you is deserved to Sports Card Album. You sir are very generous and I for one would suggest anyone who isn't following you on Twitter to do so and to check out your site and take advantage of all Sports Card Album has to offer.

REVIEW:2016 Panini Clear Vision

It's back!

Clear Vision makes it's 2016 presence early in the football card season with it's all acetate-goodness.

What's my thoughts on this years? Well, read on!

Every box of 2016 Clear Vision will provide you with 6 packs per box and 3 cards per pack. Boxes will run you roughly $60-$65. You will find one autograph or memorabilia card per box with autographs falling only 2 per case.

The base set is almost identical to last years. Once again it's all acetate and has a mix of stars of yesterday, today and tomorrow. However, there is a crazy 30 different team variations! Variations feature different teams than the base versions. I want to get my hands on the Kurt Warner Giants version!!

The rookie cards are up-to-date with team jerseys and are all numbered. It features 70 different rookie cards. Look for three different numbering tiers, with 50 players #'d/999, 15 players #'d/399 and just five players #'d/99!

Find parallels in this product to and two per box. There are Blue #/99, Bronze #/79, Red #/49, Gold #/29, Emerald #/19, Purple #/9, and Black 1/1. I pulled an emerald /19 of great Raiders QB Derek Carr.

The team variation also have parallels for the two levels of them.
I think the inserts look pretty sharp with all of the groovy designs they present. This one is probably my favorite of the group, Rivals!

All inserts have the same parallels as the base.

And my one hit has a name that is very familiar to me, Josh Doctson has been following me all year. Clear Cloth are a shadowboxed design that are numbered to 99 with parallels rime #/49, Tag #/4 or #/3, Brand Logo 1/1, NFL Logo 1/1

Other hits not found in my box,
  • CLEAR VISION MEGA JERSEY: The Clear Vision Mega Jersey features an oversized swatch from some of the upcoming players in the game today.
  • CLEAR CHANGE DUAL JERSEY: These unique cards feature one player with two swatches with one being from a current team, the other from a former team.
  • FRAMED FABRICS: These are game-used jersey swatches from current and retired NFL great.
  • VISIONARY SIGNATURES: These cards feature a large trapped acetate autograph of some of the greatest NFL players including Peyton Manning, John Elway and Emmitt Smith.
  • CLEAR CHOICE JERSEY AUTOGRAPHS: The Clear Choice Jersey Autograph set features the best of  the 2016 NFL Rookie Class
  • C-THRU SIGNATURES: C-Thru Signatures has trapped acetate autographs of great such as Jerry Rice, Brett Favre, and Barry Sanders.
Overall, I still feel there is just something missing for the price you pay per box. Especially since most hits will be memorabilia card. I do like the acetate and designs throughout the product, but still feel there is a gap between what you pay and what you get. It was the same feeling I had last year.

However, us 90's collectors will like the appeal and feeling of the product and with the checklist of players there is plenty to land from that era.

By the way, make sure you thank Panini America for this review box and check out their site for products like this one and others. Find some of these cards in a future NFL contest!

Nuttin But The Hits:2016 Score Football Jumbo Hobby Box

A couple of days ago, I posted about my vacation where it's my only time of the year to get to an LCS, and how I made a second appearance. Luckily as I said in the last post, I was good friends with the shop owners and they were able to give me a solid deal on a hobby jumbo box of Score. Cause one taste of it wasn't enough.

First off, my key rookies. I am still lacking a Wentz rookie this year. Glad to get my first Adams rookie for the Giants. Heard he could be a beast.

My first insert was a unique one. It's one of the Pepsi Rookie Of The Weeks and I got a great one in Jameis Winston.

Up next, Jared Goff RED NFL Draft card and a /20 parallel of Chris Ivory Franchise insert.

Tons of colored parallels in Score this year. All of these are /99.

Artist Proof parallels numbered to 50.

More parallels

And more. The Red Zone of Stills is /35

And now the hits. I was really impressed to get 4 autographs and no jersey cards. I was told this is a common thing in this years Score. My first two autographs had me very excited. I just wished I could predict the future so I wouldn't had already bought an Score Apple auto, but I guess two doesn't hurt.

Paul Perkins is an autograph I had wanted. Getting two out of three of the Giants autos I really wanted was awesome.

Heard this guy is supposed to be good. But, I will admit, I am not a fan of pulling the defense guys. I don't mind if they are Giants ones, but not other teams. Hopefully this guy will be good to make this pull worthwhile.

And to end it, my 2nd first round pick auto of the box in Washington's Doctson who seems to make an appearance every time I open a pack. This one is /50

Overall, a very solid break and one that I was very happy with. This years Score is just as good as 2013's except this is a better class. The combo of Hot Rookies parallels added to Score is a significant improvement over the bland parallels that are usually included. I hope that Panini improves on every NFL product like this one especially now being the only NFL licensed cards out on the market.

What are your guys thoughts on this break and 2016 Score?
