REVIEW:2021 Topps Pro Debut

Hello everyone! I hope all of you are having an amazing day whenever and wherever you are reading this, even those of you sitting on the toilet right now during your work day.

Today, I will be reviewing the latest prospect chasing product from Topps in Pro Debut, a product in the past I haven't ever hit too well in. I think that changes today, but you will have to read through my gibberish to see. Although, most of you will click this link and scroll to the bottom. Yes, I see you doing it.

Let's check this break out and not make you wait any longer, shall we?
Every hobby box of 2021 Topps Pro Debut comes with 24 packs of 8 cards. There will be four autographs per box and box prices for those four autographs is pretty good at $90.

BASE:

The base set for Pro Debut consists of 200 cards and has mixed prospects of the future and some of the top prospects in the MLB right now.

Guys like Wander Franco, Bobby Witt Jr and

Jarred Kelenic co-exist in this product in the 2021 Topps MLB design along with

Top prospects being featured in the 1991 Topps design. A little odd seeing two different base card designs done as it reminded me of Archives, but, I get what they were trying to do.

PARALLELS:
I think Pro Debut has the "right" amount of parallels, not too many and not too less. The product offers the following parallels to chase, Blue /150, Green /99, Gold /50, Orange /25, Red /10, and Black 1/1.

Here was my gold parallel /50

Blue /150

INSERTS:

There are only a small handful of inserts to tackle in Topps Pro Debut, once again, I think it's the right amount of them.

They also have the following parallels, Green /99, Orange /25, and Black 1/1.

MILB Legends has all of those stud players from their time in the minors. There are 20 cards in the set and I need the Griffey. These fall 1:6 packs.

Major Scale has 10 cards in the set that falls 1:12 packs.

The Cogeneration has 20 cards to collect and falls 1:6 packs.

HITS:
I don't have a vast knowledge in the minor league system or top guys unless I have heard their name before.

So I don't know these first three guys.....

But.....
The #1 pick I do know. Great pull in this box.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
The price per box and number of hits is excellent considering today's times. I have seen a few bangers come out of this so far.

There is also that chance that one of these unknown guys, at least to me, can turn out big as well. I say this is a worth the gamble product.

Let me know your thoughts on today's product in comments below!

Cardboard Review:2019 Topps Pro Debut Baseball

Some people choose Bowman to do their prospecting with for baseball rookies. Some like to choose Topps Heritage Minors as an option. To me, I like to use Panini EEE or today's product review in Topps Pro Debut.

I will tell you why when we dig deeper.

Every box of 2019 Topps Pro Debut baseball comes with 24 packs of 8 cards. Each box comes with two autographs and two relic card hits per. Boxes currently run roughly $75.

The base card design uses the flagship one as it usually does and includes many if not most of the
studs of the minor league. Like this hitting machine above in Yordan Alvarez.

There are 200 of these prospects in the base set.

Keston Hiura

Seth Beer

McKenzie Gore

There are also base card variations but I didn't find one in my break.

Now onto the parallels. One thing I like about Pro Debut vs flagship, you only find a couple of the parallels per box. That makes them worth more because of it.
Green /99

Orange /25. This was a solid find!

Other parallels to find include, Gold /50, Red #/10,and Black 1/1.

Now a look at the inserts. Most show a lot of fun that the minor leagues bring us. Inserts may have the following parallels, Green /99, Orange /25, and Black 1/1.

Promo Night Uniforms has 10 cards to collect

MILB Leaps and Bounds has 25 cards to collect.

Pro Debut 10th Anniversary set has 5 cards to collect including Mike Trout which I think put this product on notice.

Ben's Biz has 5 cards to collect (I wished I had an insert line)

Now onto the hits!
One of my favorites with Fragments Of The Farm. Love the unique relics included.

Distinguished Debut Manufactured Medallion numbered to 99

Autograph number one

Autograph number two which is a green./99

Other hits to find not included in my box,
  • Future Cornerstones Autograph
  • Jumbo Patch Relic Autographs
  • MiLB Leaps and Bounds Autographs
  • Pro Debut 10-Year Anniversary Autographs
  • Jumbo Patch Relics (this one looks awesome especially the throwback to 90's relics)
OVERALL THOUGHTS:I mentioned above that I would choose EEE or Pro Debut when it comes to prospecting, well, that's because both are affordable and come with multiple hits as opposed to Bowman that comes with one. I am also a big fan of the Fragments set.

I also notice this year that Mike Trouts autographs are included in this years product. How great is that? $75 for two autographs (well relics too) and one could be the most popular player in baseball right now? Sign me up!

As for my break above, well, I didn't hit it big. Yet anyways. You just never know when one of these guys could be the next big star. I am a little more patient than most with prospects who just unload them immediately. I have sat on mine a lot and it has paid off for me when I go to do trades.

So if you are looking to prospect, go chase a box of Pro Debut!

I don't think any breakers do Pro Debut, but if you want to mention it to one and find a breaker to do so with, I suggest Midwest Box Breaks as they pull fire!

REVIEW:2018 Topps Pro Debut

Some collectors turn to Bowman to get their prospecting fix, others of us turn to Elite Extra Edition and Topps Minor League products like today's Pro Debut.

I have always been a fan of Pro Debut. It's affordable, comes with cool hits and has a lot of the big names in it.

So let's check it out!

Every box of 2018 Topps Pro Debut comes with 24 packs of 8 cards each. Boxes have 4 hits, 2 auto and 2 memorabilia and boxes run $75 roughly. Not bad for the amount of hits and possibility of future stars.

The base card set uses the flagship design and is 200 cards deep. Names like Heliot Ramos, Acuna, Tebow and Vlad jr are on the checklist.

And even a Peanut Guy. Fun card by the way and there are others like it in the base set..

Also as a side note, I am interested in finding all forms of Greg Deichmann cards in this product if you wanna send em my way.

Just like flagship, these come with photo variations. But, done in a much better way. Only 15 cards are variations and they fall 1:100 packs. That's the way flagship should be done. I was fortunate enough to find one.

And like the flagship, these have parallels. But, unlike flagship, these are not as easy to pull. I only found one in my box. Green /99 of Jon Duplantier.

Other parallels I didn't pull include,Orange /25, Red /10, and Black 1/1.

Inserts offerings are only three. I don't mind that at all.

MiLB Leaps and Bounds has 25 cards and falls 1:6 packs.

Ben's Blitz cards have 9 cards that fall 1:8 packs.

And Promo Night jerseys have 12 cards and fall 1:6 packs.

Now onto the hits!

Okay, I like autographs and all, but Fragments Of The Farm is my favorite hits out of Pro Debut. Unique swatches is what I aim for and that's what I found.

Championship Banner from New York Penn League.

And how cool is this 2-color Wall Sign Swatch? Awesome.

My first auto was Drew Ellis who is in the Diamondbacks organization

And a decent pull here with Heliot Ramos who is in the Giants organization. Looks like he could be a stud. This is a green auto /99.

Other hits not found in my box but could be in yours includes,
  • Splash of the Future Autographs
  • Distinguished Debut Manufactured Patch Relics
  • MiLB Leaps and Bounds Autographs
  • Promo Night Uniforms Relics
  • 2017 Make Your Pro Debut Winner
OVERALL: For the price of the box and the decent hits I got, I won't complain. There are also plenty of big name hits in here that making your money back won't be too tough if you hit one. There are only 65 autographs in the base auto set so you have a 1:65 chance of hitting a great player. Of course with any prospecting , you never know who could be the next future superstar!

I wished flagship would take some tips from it's baby brother in terms of overall product layout with multiple hits, smaller amount if sp's and tougher to find parallels and inserts

Please take a minute out to thank Topps for providing the box to review. Some of the cards you see above will be included in the Fantasy Baseball contest! Follow Topps on all social media sites and check out their website HERE for cards and more!

Breakin Wax DOUBLE HEADER: 2014 Topps Heritage Minors + 2015 Topps Debut 2-Pack Each Breaks

To kick off vacay Breakin Wax week, I thought I would show off my first minor league break ever. I am not one to usually buy these types of products, but with my Kris Bryant chase leading me there (I still only have one card), I said why not?

The first thing I busted was 2 hobby packs of 2014 Topps Heritage Minor League. I have always been a fan of Heritage, so I figured it would be a great place to start.

In every pack of 2014 Topps Heritage Minors, you get 9 cards and having bought at a card shop I got them for $3 each. I believe boxes contained 4 hits so I was hoping I had a good chance at something.....

Then my usual reality sat in.....these were the best of the best cards I got

This guy is a beast. Was happy for this one.

Road To The Show of Bubba. My lone insert pull but in two packs can't go wrong.

Next up, is 2015 Topps Pro Debut. Once again the hope for some minor league stars was on! I am also a fan of the 2015 Topps design for baseball so knowing this product had it, I didn't have a problem trying it. I actually did a lot better with these.

Once again, it's another two pack break.
In every pack of 2015 Topps Pro Debut, you get 8 cards and having bought at a card shop I got them for $3 each. The hobby box was mostly untouched and each box comes with a decent amount of hits so I felt good about my chances.

But, once again, no hits were found. At least this time I pulled some decent base card players.

Overall, nothing big but it did help stock up my prospect collection a little in my first attempts at opening up minor league product. Sometimes you just never know which of these guys will pass or fail. Even the big names don't always prove themselves and sometimes the little guys do. Kinda why I don't put a lot of stock in one player collections too often and get a variety of players.
