Monte Irvin

Sad day in baseball today with the news of HOFer Monte Irvin's passing at age 96.

I was sorting through cards tonight when I stumbled on this Monte Irvin card from 2004 Sweet Spot Classic and thought I would share it.

Do any of you guys have any memories of Monte or own any of his cards?

Let me know in comments!

The Card Bin: What Did I Find This Time?

I really enjoyed doing this post over at The Card Bin blog and I wasn't just going to leave you all hanging with it. So without further ado, another post from The Card Bin, which is what I call this this tote right here:

I think most of us collectors have that one place we store all of our extra cards that are not PC related. This is where I stick mine. I also use this as a once-in-awhile dig through to bring back memories or for a just for fun experience. I will start posting cards from this bin to show you what's hiding in there. I honestly have no idea what is in there, I only know its autographs and memorabilia cards from the past 14 years. So this should be fun for both you and I!
Onto today's find:
2003 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic Joe Morgan Manu Patch
Thoughts on today's find are welcomed!

Random Card Of The Day: Rollie Fingers Sweet Spot Classic Memorabilia

I love getting classic or star player jersey pieces sometimes more than rookie ones since most rookies now-a-days are from premiers which means they just wear a jersey for a few minutes than take it off and these are from actual games these guys played in. And the classic ones are also sweet cause of the throwback feel and the fact its apart of baseball past.

Speaking of a card like this, what are your thoughts on baseball cards right now? Do we need another manufacturer? What about Upper Deck getting one? Let us know what you think in comments!!

Random Card Of The Day: Bill Madlock Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic Classic Memorabilia Bat

The one thing that I like, is getting a bat piece instead of a jersey card. Seems like companies have increased the amount of jersey cards they do over the amount of other items. So when finding something other than a jersey card...you gotta get excited!

Random Card Of The Day: Lou Brock Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic jersey card

Have this card in my collection and the one type of jersey cards I love, other than game worn or patch related, are classic stars of pro sports. And we know that Lou was one of them.

Any thoughts on this card today?
