REVIEW:2018 Topps UFC Chrome (bonus hit)

You don't have to fight me to get me to want anything that comes chromed.

As always Topps Chrome punches you in the face with it's beautiful refractors and there are plenty of them to chase. It doesn't matter whether it's baseball, soccer or UFC, I love me some chrome.

Let's see my thoughts on the UFC edition.

In each box of 2018 Topps Chrome UFC, there are  24 packs of 4 cards each. Each box comes with 2 autographs 8 base card refractors and 1 xfactor. Boxes currently run $60 so a solid price.

The base set takes the base Topps design and amps it up with some chrome. There are 100 cards in the base set of  some of the top fighters in the game.

 Including rookies of the UFC making their first appearance.

It seems like most products have variations and Topps UFC Chrome is no different. The CMP code for the base cards ends in 66.

While this 1:24 packs variation pull of Demetrious Johnson has

a 52 ending in his CMP code.

I love pulling autographs, but to me, chrome is all about the parallels and their parallels are stunning refractors. here are the base ones I found. (take note that one of them was Demtrious Johnson and how that card differs from his variation)

My one X-Factor find. These fall 1:24 packs.

This one is a Blue Wave refractor /75

I also found a Green refractor that falls 1:19 packs and is numbered to 99.

Here is the Gold refractor I found, these are numbered to 50 and fall 1:37 packs.

Other refractor parallels to find are,

• Diamond
• Orange /25
• Black /10
• Red /5
• SuperFractor 1/1
• Printing Plates 1/1

Inserts can be found as well in UFC Chrome. Most inserts have parallels of Wave /99, Pulsar /50 and SuperFractor 1/1.

 Notable Knockouts. There are 10 cards in the set.

1983 Design. These are pretty cool and have 25 cards in the set to find.

Interesting find here. Museum Collection chromed. There are 20 cards in this set.

Topps Tier One insert. I also found a wave refractor version as well that falls 1:92 packs. There are 15 cards to collect.

Notable Knockouts commemorates all of the big fights with the wave version that falls 1:183 packs. A tough pull.

Now onto the autograph finds including an extra one in this box.

Curtis Blaydes. This one is a Blue Wave that falls 1:60 packs. This one was also the last autograph I found.

OVERALL: Extra hit, lots of great numbered pulls, and once again Topps Chrome kicks you in the face with awesomeness. There is lots of value here and the boxes run cheap at under $60. I strongly suggest if you are a UFC fan, this is a great way to collect it.

2018 August Fantasy Baseball Prize

For those of you that joined the Sport Card Collectors Fantasy Baseball league, I finally got confirmation for the prizes in August.

Since there are two leagues, there will be two prizes. One prize for each league. The players with the highest winning percentage for each league will win a prize and the one with the biggest lead will get to choose their prize first.

REVIEW:2018 Topps UFC Knockout

Topps UFC Knockout with Knock You Out with it's plentiful hits. There are 8 hits overall to find in a box which is crazy.

So let's check it out and see how this years version compares to last years.

Every box of 2018 Topps UFC Knockout there is 4 packs per box, 10 cards per pack. Each box will come with 4 Autographs or Autograph Relics, 4 Relics and 8 Base Parallels. Each box costs around $129 which isn't bad for the amount of hits you are provided in every box.

The base card set is simply designed. No border and has a bottom name line. Colorful fighter in the forefront and black and white in the background. There are 100 cards to collect in the base set with all of the biggest names in UFC.

Parallels are plentiful with each box coming with 8 parallels. Green are /199

While Blue are /99.

 

There is also Red /8 and Gold 1/1 to be found for parallels as well.

These are not numbered, but are very tough to find with only a limited number of 100 of each card produced in the 10 card set. Not sure what the odds are either but I can't imagine they are very easy. This is Knockouts lone insert line.

 

Let's check out the hits and try not to get pounded.

Tony Ferguson Fighter Used Fight Mat relic. Purple parallel. As you can tell, it's easy to define a parallel.

My first autographs.  Derrick Lewis is a green parallel and Colby Covington.

Next hit is this Rnada Markos autograph relic card.

And my final hit is this Robbie Lawler autograph dual relic card. I really like the look of this one.

OVERALL: Lots and lots of punches being thrown in these boxes. Numbered hits, lots of hits, numbered parallels, parallel hits and so on. Knockout lives up to its name. If you are a UFC fan, you see what this product has to offer for the most part but it also has ton of book cards. There are also autographs from all of the big names out there and since I didn't pull them, you can!

SORTING:The Rest

Last year I tweeted out this photo on Twitter of my desk,

Immediately I had a comment of "wow that's such a disaster someone please help this guy sort things out." 

I responded with, "that's not a mess, that's how I sort. It's a bit complex."

I made a promise to that individual that I would do a segment to explain my sorting and here I am.

It really isn't as complex as it looks, at least to me. But, it is a bit in-depth with as much as I collect and as many sports as I collect.

So I thought I would make this series breaking down everything I collect and how I sort it. I hope this will explain the picture I tweeted and maybe give you some ideas for your own collection on how to sort.

Today I am showing off how I sort the rest of the sports and non sports I collect. Yes, I collect way too much. But, is there really such a thing??

When it comes to non sport, soccer, UFC, NASCAR or any hit I get from the rest of the sports I collect, they get loaded into penny sleeves, toploaders or 10ct boxes depending on how thick of a hit I get.

These hits then get placed into shoe box houses by what they are to make it easier to find something when I need to.

Up next, the base I sort by number. This is a very long process sometimes. Unlike the key four sports, I don't usually pull out an specific players or people so the stacks are bigger.

 and place into boxes marked oddball or non sport depending on what they are.

Finally, the inserts from all and 2015 Americana only get placed into binders by what they are. Every part has a small binder for it.

  

 

Once I get everything bindered, they get stacked on shelves. Not standing up of course as that damages cards in the long run as the pages start to fold overtime. They are stacked alternating so one side doesn't get squished and so I can fit many on one shelf. You may notice numbers on the outside of the binders. At one point I used to number them and keep what's in them in a notebook but that got too complicated with the alternating as I can't see all of the numbers now.

 

Another part I failed to mention above, is my giveaway/trade pile. I pull that stuff out and set it aside as I go along for people I normally trade with and which giveaways I run.

REVIEW:2017 Topps UFC Museum Collection

Hard hitting UFC makes it's appearance again for 2017 Topps Museum Collection.

It used to be just a standalone insert, but went full time product in 2016 and carried it's popular momentum into 2018.

What did this years product look like and how did I do, well, read on.

Each box of 2017 Topps Museum Collection UFC, you will find one pack with 8 cards per pack. You will also find two parallels and three hits for five of those cards. Boxes are currently running for $90.

The base set takes on the baseball design from last year with a clean black background with a featured fighter and silver border. The base set is only 50 cards but with three cards per pack that are base, it would take some effort to build still.

As with any product, there are parallels to chase. There are Copper /109, Gold /75 (below), Sapphire (below) /50, Ruby #/25, and Emerald 1/1. These are easily defined by the border color change.

With this being a mainly hit product, there are no inserts. So let's see what I pulled.

Most hits have patch parallels of Gold /25 and Emerald 1/1.

Single-Fighter Primary Pieces Quad Relic Legends. These include multiple pieces and can come as really nice patch parallels.

Single-Fighter Signature Swatches Relic. Another well done design hit. He has a very unique autograph as well.

Museum Autographs look really sharp with on-card autos jumping out at you. They have parallels also that are defined by the color behind the fighter. These include, Copper /25 (below), Gold /10, and Emerald 1/1.

OVERALL: Nice looking product, which is what you come to expect from the Museum Collection line, and some pretty decent hits in this box including the nice bronze Pettis. I don't think the price point is too terrible for a higher end hit based product with plenty of big hits to find. See what I did there.

I think if you are a UFC collector you will be pretty happy with this product whether buying boxes or singles.

REVIEW:2016 Topps Museum Collection UFC(Giveaway)

One of the newer products to the UFC lineup for Topps in Museum Collection, a hit brand for other sports. So let's see if this is HIT or miss.

In every box of 2016 Topps UFC Museum Collection is 1 pack. That one pack has 8 cards and a hobby box will run you roughly $80. Much cheaper than the other sports. Each box features one relic, one on-card autograph and one autographed relic card.

The base cards feature the same design to this years baseball. The only big difference is, the thickness of the base cards. The UFC ones are much thinner but not too thin. If found three of the possible fifty in the set in my box. It would obviously take you a few boxes to fill a set.

As with most products, there are parallels. I found two in my box. One of UFC great Anderson Silva, one of the featured fighters on the box. He is a ruby parallel /25 and the Miocic is a gold numbered to 75.

OTHER BASE PARALLEL CARDS include:

• Copper
• Sapphire (#'d to 50)
• Emerald (#'d 1/1)

The product does have an insert set as well. But, they are tough to pull and rare. Canvas Collection Originals is artwork of top UFC fighters from leading MMA artists and is numbered 1 of 1.

Now onto the hits! Let's start out with the memorabilia hit first.

My first pull is a single-fighter Primary Piece Quad Relic.There are 30 different fighter cards each featuring 4 pieces of fighter-worn or event-used memorabilia..

Base versions are sequentially numbered and there are parallels of: 

• Copper Parallel #'d to 25.
• Gold Parallel #'d to 10.
• Emerald Parallel #'d 1/1.

There is also Single-Fighter Primary Pieces Quad Relics Legends that has 15 different legendary fighter cards each featuring 4 pieces of fighter-worn or event-used memorabilia with the same parallels and Four-Fighter Primary Pieces Quad Relic that has 10 different cards featuring 4 fighters, each with their own piece of fighter-worn or event-used memorabilia.Same parallels as above.

You can also find Prime Relic cards featuring prime pieces of fighter-worn or event used material. 

 Meaningful Material Relic features up to 25 fighters with a 1/1 emerald parallel and

Museum Memorabilia where all of the cards are 1/1 and up to 20 fighters.

I now move onto the autographs. Some are on-card, some are not.

My first one is an Archival Autograph which is on-card for the one I pulled. Some are, some aren't! The checklist is of UFC fighters veteran, retired and newly debuting.This one is numbered to /99. Each base version is sequentially numbered.

 

 

There are also parallels:

• Gold Parallel #'d to 25.
• Ruby Parallel #'d to 10.
• Emerald Parallel #'d 1/1.

There are Dual Autographs as well that featuring up to 5 different fighter combinations. Cards will be signed on-card and #'d to 10.

There is also Museum Collection Framed Autographs.These specially framed cards feature on-card  autographs with Gold Frame #'d to 15, Silver Frame #'d to 5 and Black Frame #'d 1/1.

Up next, is my autographed relic card. The best pull of the box in my opinion.

This is a Single-Fighter Signature Swatches Relic Autograph of Chris Weidman. These feature
 a jumbo piece of fighter-worn memorabilia and an autograph.I like the design on these, I just wished they were on-card like the other auto I pulled.

Parallels to these include, 

• Gold Parallel #'d to 25.
• Emerald Parallel #'d 1/1. 

There are other versions of the autographed relic cards such as Single-Fighter Signature Swatches Dual Relic Autographs that includes2 relic pieces of fighter-worn memorabilia and an autograph with parallels of Gold Parallel #'d to 25.and Emerald Parallel #'d 1/1. There is also Single-Fighter Signature Swatches Triple Relic Autographs: with 3 relic pieces of fighter-worn memorabilia and an autograph and parallels of Gold #'d to 25 and Emerald Parallel #'d 1/1.

Overall, I love the appeal and design of the product and I think it was a great idea to bring this to the UFC stage. Imagine if Topps was to move this to the Star Wars stage.....take note of this Topps!

I think when buying this product you must also keep in mind that it's just as much of a risk as with any product in this price range. Some breaks will provide big booms while others will be okay and others may be a bit shocking. Mine was an okay of a break from my research. 

But, with the price range being around $80 and not close to $200 like with the other sports carrying the Museum Collection name, I say if you like UFC and don't mind a bit of a gamble, I would roll the dice here.
