REVIEW:2017 Elite Extra Edition (NICE PULL!)

I think a lot of times Panini baseball products don't get enough credit. Just because they don't have a license, doesn't mean they can't put out a solid product.

I can list off quite a few of my favorites and one of those prospect heavy Elite Extra Edition. It always seems to pack a punch.

Did the 2017 version? Well...READ ON!

In every box of 2017 Elite Extra Edition there are 5 packs with 5 cards per pack. You will find up to 9-11 hits including at least 7 autographs. Boxes run for $94 and can pack a punch. That's a lot hits for that price. And if you prospect at all, these can be a steal right now.

The base set is all numbered to 999. The base set is 196 cards deep and includes all kind of college, minor league and overseas stars. They are also all foil based just like Elite.

Parallels on this kind of foil board burst off of the cardboard.

ASPIRATIONS PARALLELS: Purple /200, Red /150, Orange /100, Blue /75, Tie-Dye /25,and Gold 1/1.
STATUS DIE-CUT PARALLELS: Red /99, Emerald /49, Tie-Dye /10, and Gold 1/1.

The word Aspirations or Status put into the background slant to let you know which one you have. This will be the same way for the autographs.

Now onto the hits!

My first hit is a dual threads of Tyler O'Neill and Victor Robles. Really unique jersey swatches. The Robles pops off the cardboard....literally.

My next hit was this Quad Patch Emerald parallel /10 of Michael Kopech. Sharp looking card.

Now onto the autographs as there are many to see.

The autographs are not on card, but still glisten off of the cardboard.

Just like the base, the autographs have parallels.

These parallels include, Red Status /75

Blue Aspirations /50

and a Tie-Dye Aspirations /10

Overall, there are many parallels including,
BASE:Emerald /25, Tie-Dye /10, and Printing Plates 1/1

ASPIRATIONS PARALLELS: Purple /100, Blue /50, Tie-Dye /10, and Gold 1/1.

STATUS DIE-CUT PARALLELS: Red /75, Emerald /25, Tie-Dye /5, and Gold 1/1.

Also one per box is Panini's famous Autograph Silhouettes. This is where my big pull comes in.

Gleyber Torres Autograph Silhouette silver /49! Sticker auto but I am okay with that.

Other hits not included in  my box are, College Tickets,Jumbo Materials,Dual Materials, Triple Materials, Quad Materials, Future Threads Silhouettes Duals, USA Baseball Tickets and USA Collegiate National Team Silhouette Autographs.

OVERALL: Lot's of autographs of future stars, nice relics, two cards numbered to 10 and a big hit to end it. What can I say, this is an obvious buy. I have never busted a bad box of EEE and every box I have ever opened has come with low numbered cards and other big hits.

Please take a moment out to thank Panini America for their generosity in providing this box for me to review and give some of the hits away in my Mystery Panini Contest (now ended). Follow them on all social media and visit their site, HERE, as well.

Thanks Tracy Hackler, and Panini.
Pro, I also like this set for price point, pulled a Swanson on card die cut /5 last year which was awesome.

Con: sticker autos sometimes, and also no liscense.

I would guess #14/100

REVIEW:2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball+GIVEAWAY!

A lot of collectors like to use Bowman as their main prospecting product, myself, I like to use Bowman, but like Elite Extra Edition a bit more. Why? Because it is LOADED.

How did my latest break of this highly touted prospect product go, well, read on!
In every box of 2016 Elite Extra Edition baseball, you will find 5 packs of 5 cards. Yes, they remodeled EEE some. You will find Six to Eight Autographs Per Box along with Two to Four Memorabilia Cards Per Box and boxes run at a fairly cheap $85.

The Elite Extra Edition base cards are a bit more challenging to collect a set of with them being limited to 999 and being limited per box. There are also 180 cards in the base set so it's a deep one. But, you can findTop Prospects and Young Stars including Yoan Moncada, Andrew Benintendi, Orlando Arcia, Jorge Mateo, Clint Frazier, Alex Reyes,  and A.J. Puk

The parallels in in EEE are wack. So colorful. You can find Purple #/200, Blue #/75, Tie-Dye #/25, and Gold 1/1.

There are Status die-cut parallels as well. Black #/99, Red #/99, Emerald #/49, Tie-Dye #/10, and Gold 1/1. I put these against a red background so you can see the die-cut better.

Now onto the hits. And there are plenty. All memorabilia hits have parallels of Silver #/149 or less, Holo Gold #/99 or less, Purple #/25, Emerald #/10, Blue #/5, and Gold 1/1.

My first hit is a Future Threads. It's a nice size swatch and has a stripe. Well designed too.

My second pull was a quad jersey card of Matt Olson.

A USA Quad. These are pretty cool.

A Future Threads Auto Silhouette. Who doesn't like a auto silhouette card???? There are no parallels for these. However, swatches may vary such as patch and non patch, etc.

Don't you feel like you already had lots of value...but yet....I am still just getting to the autographs!!!

The base autographs are not numbered, but the parallels certainly are. I will list those after the autograph bump.

Purple. I cut the number off /100 on this one on purpose :)

And green status die cut /25

Parallels for the above autograph cards also include....
PARALLEL CARDS: Black #/10 or #/5, Charcoal #/25 or #/10, and Printing Plates 1/1.
ASPIRATIONS PARALLEL CARDS: Purple #/100 or less, Blue #/50 or less, Tie-Dye #/10 or #/5, and Gold 1/1.
STATUS DIE-CUT PARALLEL CARDS: Red #/75 or less, Emerald #/25 or less, Tie-Dye #/5 or less, and Gold 1/1

If those are not enough for you, there are USA Season Ticket autographs you would find in Contenders., but are now in here too. They feature the first autographs of all 64 members of the Collegiate, 18U and 15U National Teams. Find 7 parallels including Cracked Ice and printing plate parallels numbered to 24 or less.

OVERALL, it would be foolish not to gamble on a box for the price and the amount of hits it provides. This isn't even all of the stuff you can find in a box of EEE. This is also the easiest way to collect your favorite prospects and have a better shot at landing an auto or memorabilia card of them. It's better to pay this price now for a box of this instead of paying that price for one card later on.

Now time for that giveaway and how you can win this ↓↓↓

Breakin Wax REVIEW:2015 Elite Extra Edition Baseball Hobby HOT Box

When you think of prospecting products in baseball, usually the first thought that pops into everyone's mind is Bowman. Yes, it does me to but I am not as big of a fan of it as I used to be. Feels like Topps had put that on repeat.

So as normal, I think outside of the normal collector realm and found something I enjoy 100 TIMES more than Bowman, Panini Elite Extra Edition. Not only does this have prospects, it's LOADED with autographs, parallels and jersey cards all for about the same price. Why wouldn't you choose this over it.

See why I am so into this product as you read on.

In every box of 2015 Elite Extra Edition you will find 20 packs per box with 5 cards per pack. Most boxes will average about 6 autographs and 1 jersey card. Mine came with an extra. There are some HOT boxes that can land you up to 10 hits. Boxes will run you roughly $90.

The base cards are sharp. Foil done in a design similar to 1997 Donruss Preferred featuring the prospects in their college uni's. There are also 200 cards in the base set so that's not completely out of reach in a few boxes.

So you take an already great looking base set and add some color and rainbow to it. Even more impressive. You can find four numbered cards per box. There are also die cut parallels.

And harder to find ones. This one of D-Backs prospect Domingo Leyba is numbered to 10.

There are other inserts besides the parallels to find. These aren't quite as impressive, but not bad in design.

I would have liked to seen this done in foil.

Now onto the autographs. You get regular base and parallels to these as well. Including chances at printing plates. I pulled some pretty decent ones for myself including

Kaprielian (even prettier in person) and

Jeter's future replacement?, Kyle Holder. This one is numbered to 10 as well. That makes two low numbered pulls so far.

Each box also comes with one jersey card. I thought the design popped on here.

I also pulled this autographed jersey card numbered to 50 as well. Like I said, this product is impressive. But even more impressive was my final pull....

A Boston Red Sox top prospect Yoan Moncada Rookie autographed silhouette /10. The silhouettes are making their EEE debut this year and I think it is an added winner for sure. One of my favorite designed rookie cards on the market.
Overall, not to sound cliche-ish, but Panini hit a home run here. Great looking base cards, impressive parallels and hits galore. I found value around every corner here and every pack I busted brought more excitement.

This isn't even all of the awesome stuff that EEE offers. Check out the details on The Knights Lance, HERE. You will see even more offerings that I didn't pull such as Passing The Torch autographs that have Mariano Rivera on them.

Writers Note: Look for some of these cards in future giveaways and #SCCGivesBack mail days. Stay Tuned and make sure to thank Panini America and Tracy Hackler.

Review: Donruss Elite Extra Edition Baseball 2012

This is a product I have always wanted to try. I am an Elite fan, I like baseball cards and I like rookies and autographs. So it seems this is the product for me. So gave it a run and we were lucky and got a hot box.
2012 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball Hobby Box
  • 20 Packs Per Box, 5 Cards Per Pack
  • Look for (6) Autographs Per Box!
  • Find HOT BOXES containing (10) Autos!!
  • Find short-printed Green and Red Ink Autos!
  • $100 per box
BASE CARDS: Just look below (we forgot to take a picture of base card) at the autographs and picture them without the auto to see what the base cards look like. Not a bad design as it sticks the the Elite theme of silver cardboard. But since this is a rookie laden product adding the red to the base cards make the silver cardboard a thing of the past.

INSERTS: The inserts look good but not as eye catchy as the Aspirations die cuts. Each one is numbered and depending on the color to a different number. Pictures sometimes cannot do these justice but I tried my best to capture the shine. My other favorite insert in the product is the Diamond Kings. I like the combo of baseball future star and a King from a deck of playing cards.

# to 25

AUTOGRAPHS:We would say this is what you would call a "Hot Box" from the product. Overall you are supposed to get 6 autos per box. We got 8 and technically 9 if you consider the dual autographs separate autos. The Building Blocks combines the autographs of two players linked by school, team, position or some other common denominator. We were lucky to hit one of these numbered to 25. There are also ink variations as well to the base autos. The autos also look great because of all the glimmer and shine.

JERSEY/PATCH CARDS: N/A

OVERALL THOUGHTS: If you are looking to get the baseball rookies autographs before they hit the playing field this is the product for you. What other product offers this type of rookie loaded, 6+ autos per box all for under $100. Bet you can't find one. There is plenty to take a chance on in this product as the future of MLB and the next big stars auto could be hidden within a box of this.

RATINGS:  Bloggers Note: Our ratings are based specifically on the blaster, box or packs we opened and do not express what the overall product could bring. Ratings based on a 1-5. 1 Being the lowest and 5 being the highest.

                Insert Design: 3
                Memorablila/Autographs: 5
