REVIEW:2016 Elite Extra Edition Baseball+GIVEAWAY!

A lot of collectors like to use Bowman as their main prospecting product, myself, I like to use Bowman, but like Elite Extra Edition a bit more. Why? Because it is LOADED.

How did my latest break of this highly touted prospect product go, well, read on!
In every box of 2016 Elite Extra Edition baseball, you will find 5 packs of 5 cards. Yes, they remodeled EEE some. You will find Six to Eight Autographs Per Box along with Two to Four Memorabilia Cards Per Box and boxes run at a fairly cheap $85.

The Elite Extra Edition base cards are a bit more challenging to collect a set of with them being limited to 999 and being limited per box. There are also 180 cards in the base set so it's a deep one. But, you can findTop Prospects and Young Stars including Yoan Moncada, Andrew Benintendi, Orlando Arcia, Jorge Mateo, Clint Frazier, Alex Reyes,  and A.J. Puk

The parallels in in EEE are wack. So colorful. You can find Purple #/200, Blue #/75, Tie-Dye #/25, and Gold 1/1.

There are Status die-cut parallels as well. Black #/99, Red #/99, Emerald #/49, Tie-Dye #/10, and Gold 1/1. I put these against a red background so you can see the die-cut better.
Now onto the hits. And there are plenty. All memorabilia hits have parallels of Silver #/149 or less, Holo Gold #/99 or less, Purple #/25, Emerald #/10, Blue #/5, and Gold 1/1.

My first hit is a Future Threads. It's a nice size swatch and has a stripe. Well designed too.

My second pull was a quad jersey card of Matt Olson.

A USA Quad. These are pretty cool.

A Future Threads Auto Silhouette. Who doesn't like a auto silhouette card???? There are no parallels for these. However, swatches may vary such as patch and non patch, etc.

Don't you feel like you already had lots of value...but yet....I am still just getting to the autographs!!!

The base autographs are not numbered, but the parallels certainly are. I will list those after the autograph bump.
Purple. I cut the number off /100 on this one on purpose :)

And green status die cut /25

Parallels for the above autograph cards also include....
PARALLEL CARDS: Black #/10 or #/5, Charcoal #/25 or #/10, and Printing Plates 1/1.
ASPIRATIONS PARALLEL CARDS: Purple #/100 or less, Blue #/50 or less, Tie-Dye #/10 or #/5, and Gold 1/1.
STATUS DIE-CUT PARALLEL CARDS: Red #/75 or less, Emerald #/25 or less, Tie-Dye #/5 or less, and Gold 1/1

If those are not enough for you, there are USA Season Ticket autographs you would find in Contenders., but are now in here too. They feature the first autographs of all 64 members of the Collegiate, 18U and 15U National Teams. Find 7 parallels including Cracked Ice and printing plate parallels numbered to 24 or less.
OVERALL, it would be foolish not to gamble on a box for the price and the amount of hits it provides. This isn't even all of the stuff you can find in a box of EEE. This is also the easiest way to collect your favorite prospects and have a better shot at landing an auto or memorabilia card of them. It's better to pay this price now for a box of this instead of paying that price for one card later on.

  1. Cool! I'm not familiar with many of these players, but I guess that comes with it being a prospect set. Looks neat. Would like to see more on-card autos instead of stickers.

    I'll guess 72.

  2. Thanks to Panini, Tracy Hackler, and SCC for providing the cards and posting a review.

My guess for the serial number is #034/100

Pro: I like the color on the parallels and the variety of design on the hit cards. It seems like you get a pretty good number of cards for your money.

Con: As always with Panini and baseball, the lack of a license really hurts. I am generally willing to pay more for an equivalent Topps card because they look better with logos. But Panini can't really do anything about that, so my other remark is that sticker autographs really need some kind of framing in the design to blend in the appearance of the sticker a little, especially on cards like these with a lot of mirror foil.

  3. Thanks Tracy Hackler, Panini for providing the cards and SCC posting this review / contest.

    Guess is #63/100

Pro: Deep mix of players as well as players from the USA teams.

Con: The packaging configuration makes this tougher a tougher product for in-person autograph collectors looking to track down a hand-collated set.

  4. I have never opened a box of EEE because I have never had much look with prospects but on the positive side I like the designs, they work well with baseball. I am not really sure if I can come up with a negative. Big thanks to Tracy and SCC.

My number I would like is #48

  5. Thank you for the informative review.

Pro: There is a lot of value in that box. Panini can clearly tell what customers want with prospect hunting and that is autographs.

Con: The difficulty in completing the base cards is too bad. I consider myself a set builder so that is a turn off for me. That said, the base set is clearly not the focus of this product

  6. Thanks for the review. I've always wanted to pull the trigger on one of these boxes, but never have been able to convince myself to take the gamble.

Pro: Wow, that's a bunch of hits. I actually like the design and I think the parallels are beautiful. The Season Ticket card shown is very nicely done.

Con: As much as I like all the hits, I'm also enjoy building sets. Five cards per pack and five packs per box mean twenty-five cards per box. If I counted right you pulled sixteen non-base cards. That means only nine base cards in the box that weren't parallels? Nine into 180 means I'd have to purchase twenty boxes to build the set from packs with perfect collation.
I'm guessing not many people do that.

  7. Pros: Solid checklist
Cons: I wish they came in blaster form.

    I'll go with 024/100

  8. #77/100
Pro- I love this product. It's one if the best of 2016.

    Con- I don't have one

  9. Pro-the number of autos you get per box is great
Con-I still don't like seeing the players without their logos and team apparel, makes it hard to figure out what team theyre on and who they are.

    I guess 23/100.

  10. I like 19/100. I really like the design this year. They definitely changed it up. Lots of value to be had. In fact, it is a much better value than the Bowman brands. The only drawback is that it is less prestige than the Bowman products, which is really too bad.

  11. Pro: Different design from previous years, and lots of hits.
Con: I still don't like the logo-less cards as much.

    I'll go with 52.

    Thanks again for the contest.

  12. Thanks for the review and contest. Thanks to Tracy and Panini for the box.

    I'll guess 55/100.

Pro- number of hits per box at the price point, Topps could take a hint that this is what the collector wants!

Con- duration of time for some of these kids to make it to the pros, that's more of my own impatience coming through but 15U does seem a bit early.

  13. Pro: All cards are serial numbered to less than 1000 making for a relatively scarce base set.
    Con: All sticker autographs.
    Guess: 43/100
Thanks for the review and giveaway!⚾

  14. pro = so many hits that even if some of the prospects don't pan out, still can hit the big one

con - would like to see more affiliation with current team rather than team usa or college

  15. Stickers vs on-card autographs never bothered me much for some reason. One one hand, it would take a whole lot of boxes to complete a base set, but on the other it would only be possible for 999 sets to be assembled, if I read that numbering correctly. That would be kind of a neat thing to have.

I'll guess #81, and thanks for the contest.

  16. Thank you to SportCardCollectors and Panini!
-Pro- Nice look and well priced with good hit/box ratio
-Con- Big checklist could yield a lot of nobodies.
    Sticker autos everywhere!

  17. Thanks to you and Panini for the contest and giveaway!

Pro: The amount of hits you receive per box and Team USA!
Con: The X design reminds me of Upper Deck X.

    Going with 90 / 100.

  18. Thanks Tracy Hackler, and Panini.
Pro, I also like this set for price point, pulled a Swanson on card die cut /5 last year which was awesome.

Con: sticker autos sometimes, and also no liscense.

    I would guess #14/100
    Twitter- @jimmymak22

  19. Thanks Panini and thanks for the giveaway!!

Pro: So many hits!! And it is certainly on the cheaper side.

Con: It's Panini so it doesn't have the MLB license which in my opinion, takes away from the overall appearance of the cards.

    Numbered: 31/100

  20. Thanks Panini for the giveaways and cards!
Pro: Awesome amount of content and hits!
Con: Hard to hit a monster, many prospects you may never know.
    Guess: 6/100
