Chasing Lamar:2018 Classics Football Blaster Box #1

We are back for Part One of Two for the Chasing Lamar finales. Both will be blaster boxes of 2018 Classics football.

So let's get this going!

I found a two blaster box lot for $26 on eBay. That's $13 a box which I found worth it no matter the results. So far this appears to be the last year of Classics football as they switched it up to Legacy which I don't think Collectors were huge on. Classics had a great following.

Rookies are not easy finds in this box. Three per box! THREE. Odds were against me and I didn't win. However I did add a Carter for my PC, a decent one in Miller and a Jefferson I can send to my buddy Nate

 

Guess I am a Kirk Cousins parallel seeker, at least the Cardboard Gods felt that way. This is a Blue Back numbered to 175

And my box hit, a Melvin Gordon Saturday Swatches. I really like the throwback feel of the hit and it matches the rest of the product nicely. Sometimes brands can not follow suit all the way through, they did here.

Overall, not too shabby for $13 I don't think. Big named players in the inserts and the hit was a good player.

Hitting The Gridiron

The cubes from Wes came in many forms, sizes and sports. Not all of it was baseball. Some of it was football, basketball and a few odds and ends as well.

Today, I am showing off a football cube.

Right on top is Wes' man from his favorite team the Cardinals. Him and I both have had rough seasons of NFL to watch this year. At least he has Alabama to fall back on. I have nothing.

 

Some rookie cards of some great players. Melvin Gordon (Chargers look really good this year), Funchess, David Johnson, and Jameis Winston.

Was totally excited about finding this card in the cube. I know it's Michael Pittman, but it's 90's refractor love from Bowman Chrome. Pretty awesome.

A quad of autographs. Something about that Bo Wallace card I like.

Shake your John Booty! I pulled a ton of this guy back in the day. Was hoping he was the next superstar. He did get a chance to play, but superstar, no.

Tommy Rees auto. Back when I watched college football I was a golden domer fan. Not that I still don't root them on, I just don't watch college football. Not my thing.

Breakin Wax:2015 Bowman Football Blaster Box

So I broke down and did it, I bought a 2015 Bowman football blaster box.

As you know I have shared some strong opinions on the product as it is a shameful put out of what it once was. With the circumstance of wanting to bust something and my Walmart carrying no other options, I gave it a go anyways.

Here is how it went.

In every blaster of 2015 Bowman football, there are eight packs and seven cards per pack. Blasters run you about $20. There are no guarantees on hits. I also haven't figured out why companies put seven packs plus one extra pack when you know all along they were packing eight packs in there no matter what.

The base cards are not terrible looking. A lot of border and paper thin card stock, but not too bad.

This is the biggest eye sore of the product, the rookies. No logos, the background colors are atrocious, and I just don't think they have any appeal. I remember when Bowman put out solid full-bleed color photos for their rookie cards. What happened??!?!? Oh, these were the best two rookies from the box.

Purple parallels. Not bad players and I think Petty has a bright future.

These look pretty sharp. This kinda card I don't mind.

And my best pull from the box an Melvin Gordon Orange Ice numbered to 50.

Overall, there was a mixed feeling on value in the blaster. My rookies weren't great, the parallels were mostly easy/less valuable pulls and as you can see, the Gordon was the best card. With the feel of the product combined with the value I felt I got in this blaster, it feels Bowman won't be missed next year by me and won't be picked up this year by me again either.
