Mantle's Legendary Lumber

As I posted earlier this week, I am a tad behind on mail day posts hence the double dose of posts this week that may run into next week til I am caught up.

Today's posting comes from an Easter contest win from the people of TCSP. As soon as I saw this card, I knew I had to try to win it. It's Mantle, a jumbo relic and just cool.

All they needed for an entry was why you would want to win this card and to earn bonus entries, a picture of something Easter-y. I took pictures of hidden Easter baskets I had for my nieces and nephews and tweeted them out for the bonus entries. Sadly, there were no cards added to the baskets as I am the lone collector in the family other than my dad.

So let's take a gander at this Mantle card. I know some collectors may question it's authenticity coming from an unlicensed company that flies under the radar, but, I guess til we can prove it's not real, we just have to believe it is. I know I really hope it is.

 

According from the back of the card this swatch is from a bat used in the 1967 season.

 

 

One thing I will say about TSCP, they put out some nice looking products for an unlicensed company. They also have a nice printing system with plastic coated base cards that have that brand new scent no matter how long you have owned them.

Mail Day Saturday:2015 TCSP Top Shelf Legends Baseball Box

Last week, I showed off a 2015 TCSP 5 Star Rookie Class Baseball Box that I won in a guess the score contest on Twitter from @TriCitySportsPL and promised I would show the second box off this week. Well, here it is.

A 2015 TCSP Top Shelf Legends Baseball box.

Every box comes with 3 cards and promises to be packed with some "Top Shelf" goodness.

The cards in the box were once again packed in a team bag but well protected.

The first card in my pack was this Frank Vincent American Legends card. Don't know who he is, Frank is an actor, musician, author, and entrepreneur. He played roles in Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and Casino. 

I am a big fan of the design. I think a presidents product would look awesome on a design like this with swatches.

Next card in my pack was a dual jersey of Mike Trout and Bryce Harper. Once again, a nice design and doesn't look bad for a non-licensed product.

My final card and my favorite of the pack, even though I liked all three, was this Harmon Killibrew that contains a HUGE swatch of bat. Once again, nailed the design. The bat swatch used claims to be from a bat used during the 1972 season.

Overall, I was pretty impressed with this product. Looks nice, solid pulls and all of the cards are numbered. (Sorry I didn't take pictures of the backs due to time constrictions)

Mail Day Saturday:2015 TCSP 5 Star Rookie Class Baseball Box

Back when the NFL playoffs were alive, I entered a guess the score contest on Twitter from @TriCitySportsPL and was the only person who guessed it right on and took home a prize. It's been a long wait on it, but they forewarned it may be, and my prize from that win arrived this week. It was two of their baseball hobby boxes.

In today's Mail Day Saturday I am showing off one of those boxes, the second and better of the two, I am waiting to showcase next Saturday. 

So here is what a 2015 TCSP 5 Star Rookie Class box is all about.

The cards inside of the box were all in a team bag which acted as a wrapper. 

 

My first 5 cards of the 8 card pack were base cards that were protected by penny sleeves. Each card is numbered to 45 and are printed on very thick, durable card stock that has a unique feel to it almost as if it has a plastic coating. Design is not too shabby and all of the players are in no-logo uniforms.

 

Next card in the pack, also in a penny sleeve, was this gold parallel of Nola that is numbered to 10.

 

And the final two cards from the pack were autographs that were in the team bag without protection. These autographs are a bit unique. I would call them cut autos as they seem to have come from another product, possibly from another manufacturer upon further inspection.

 

This one was more apparent that way as I think you guys can see this too. The autographs are limited to just 20. It seems they also have some big names on the checklist of guys like Yasiel Puig, Jose Abreu and Kris Bryant.

 

 

Not a bad break overall. I really liked the card stock they use as I don't see that being used by anyone else. Keeps the cards from being damaged easy. It would actually take a lot to damage these.

Random Card Of The Week: 2014 TCSP Promo Card Johnny Manziel

This was the first Manziel in my collection, a 2014 TCSP promo card that was apart of a 5 card set I had won. Despite the lack of licensing, I really dig the design of the card and it looks even better up close.

The Breakdown: What's In A 2014 TCSP MMA Finest Fighters Hobby Box+GIVEAWAY

There is a card company that you may or may not have heard of putting out some pretty cool products. If you haven't heard of TCSP you should go check them out. Yes, there product may not be licensed by leagues, but they have some pretty nice looking cards out on the market and not to mention some pretty unique ones as well such as an autograph of Eminem. You can't find that in any other card product.

Today, I was lucky enough to get my hands onto one of their products and will be able to share it with you! I busted a hobby box of 2014 TCSP MMA Finest Fighters. Each box comes with 7 cards and two hits packed in penny sleeves then into a team bag. Most boxes carry an msrp under $50 and all of the cards in the box are numbered. Base cards are numbered to 35 and everything else is lower. So there is great value to find.

One thing that really caught my attention about these cards is what they are printed on. It was not cheap card stock. These cards are printed on what TCSP calls "super stock". They claim "you can drop the card and it won't damage and that it can also withhold 50 pounds of pressure because it's top of the line." They also say these "cards will stay mint for a long time". I tend to agree. These are well made and extremely thick. The card surface has a rough but plastic smooth feel. Its pretty cool.

As for my thoughts on this product. I like it. The design is clean with the frame around the fighter and a metal cage watermarked behind them. The swatch is incredibly big on the memorabilia card and the cut auto is pretty cool too. There are some big name fighters to find in here with opportunities to find their autographs and there are really low numbered parallels as well. Value should be found here with the low numbering, two hits and the possibility at landing big names. 

Also, less a product is made, it drives up value on the cards because it makes them rarer and with only a limited number of cards made per each fighter and a good price it makes a great product for everyone in the hobby.

As for my thoughts on the product, I think despite being unlicensed by the league, they have a nice design despite missing the logos. I would have liked to seen the writing on Veteran and Prospect a bit smaller but other than that they do pretty good for what they got. The card-stock is completely outstanding and the cost is really well for the amount of low numbered cards you get in return especially since all of the cards were numbered to 10 in this box for base. Not to mention two hits that were numbered to 5. You can find big name autos to such as Yasiel Puig and Derek Jeter.

Also, less a product is made, it drives up value on the cards because it makes them rarer and with only a limited number of cards made per each player and a good price it makes a great product for everyone in the hobby. It would have been interesting to see how this product would have been if it was licensed by MLB.

What's In The Mailbox?

When going to the post office and knowing you have cards coming, opening up your mail box is like opening a Christmas present. And that's the way I felt today when I opened mine and found a package from TCSP.

First off you may be wondering, who is TCSP? Well , they are a newer card company started back in 2008 but growing yearly. They are a smaller company that keeps their cards limited as they do not produce many or have many of their cards unnumbered. They don't have any pro licenses but do a great job with what they have and also have some unique offerings in their products as well and some you won't find elsewhere. Such as in an upcoming product they will be including an Eminem autographed card. Nobody else has those. Should be interesting to see how they do on the market.

Now onto today's mail day. I won these cards in a Twitter contest and had no idea what they were sending me. I was quite impressed when I opened up the envelope and it may possibly tempt me to try some of their products in the future.

The cards below are all numbered to 100. They are 2014 TCSP Precious Metals Preview Rookies and I really like them. The design is nice, the cards are thick and with them being serial numbered it helps keep the value on them. Not to mention I got the top players in the 2014 draft.
