A Rough Blog January

 I don't know about the rest of the bloggers, but January was an awful month in views, comments and lost followers on here. Probably one of the worst months in the history of this blog.

It's not like I missed a day off or haven't posted something about cards every day, I know in the past some toy posts really didn't view well, it is just weird and not something I hope continues as the blog moves closer to its 10-year anniversary on March 1st.

Just like in life, I always have a bright outlook and hope that it improves.

While I am also just doing a short plain post for today, I am going to toss out Cards Over Coffee again. I am still working on building that following as well. Will do a contest once that blog hits 100 followers. Right now there are 41, so a ways to go.

A Few Updates On Here

Over the next month or so, I am trying to get caught up on all of my extra drafts on here. I couldn't stand trying to find a post I was looking for on a specific day and scrolling through about 95 draft posts.

So for myself, I found it easier to get these all scheduled instead and try to eliminate the clutter. There was also roughly 30 or so I deleted as well that will never be seen.

Up until about July 3rd, all of these posts will be published. So any incoming mail days between now and then, won't be published til after that date. I know it's a long wait, but, it's for the best. Don't fret however for those who send me a mail day in this time frame as I will always post it on here big or small.

Another reason for doing this is trying to eliminate some/all of the segments I have started recently. I feel some of them are too short and some are too long. I think it will be better just to focus and post incoming mail/topics on here instead of diving back into stuff I had already had in the way past. I will also update the tabs section accordingly and try not to have so much clutter again on the interface of the blog.

I feel as a blogger I am always-and I mean always-making changes on here every few months but I think it's just all apart of who I am and apart of being a blogger. I know many of us do this and not just me. Gotta keep things fresh I guess!

So stay tuned for these changes, all of the incoming posts and for the mail day posts afterwards! I know there will be some good ones to see!

***I failed to mention that any incoming reviews of anything between now and then will still be published during that time frame as I don't want to push those off. The days with a review will lead to a double up post day***

The Only Entrant Part 1

(Bloggers Note: I am so far behind in mail day postings as I was recently hammered with trades and other incoming items. In my move to ditch all segments, I have taken all of my drafts and have scheduled all 100+ of them over the next few months. By August, all segments will be gone and I can free bird blog like this post again as I prefer to do that. The point of this bloggers note is to let everyone who recently sent me a mail day that I do plan on posting them when I can sneak them in with the already scheduled posts. Sorry for the delay but without further ado, here is today's bonus posting)

As most fellow bloggers know, I am always on the lookout for new sites or blogs to read and check out. Thanks to the word spreading of Beans Ballcard Blog on Twitter I have been able to add quite a few to my daily reading. He takes a few days out of the week and tweets out posts from a ton of blogs. Some I know of, others I don't and add to my list.

One of the most recent ones was Lingua Sports Cards. This is a blog that covers baseball, football and basketball so if you are a fan of any of those go give it a check out, HERE.

Anyways, the post that Bean's had tweeted out was a contest one to win inserts and hits from many Topps retail boxes that they broke recently. Not only was I surprised by winning, but I was surprised I was the only one who entered and was even more surprised by what arrived. If you missed out on this contest, you will have many regrets. I actually had to split this up into two-parts just to cover it all.

NEW BLOG! Check It Out! (Plus Notes)

Yes, I know I have stated on here a few times about over-blogging and how I take on way too many projects, well, hopefully I haven't made that choice again as I have created yet another blog. I know, you guys can start to yell at me.

After having 3 failed attempts at running a second blog, I do believe this time is different. This is new blog is a blog specifically for my Super Collecting of Rodney Hampton and it won't have new posts daily (least I don't think so) like this one. That will take a lot of the pressure away as this blog remains my top priority. That may change later on as I may decide to dedicate my time to that one over this one. We will see.

Hampton's Cardboard Craze will be a "if I have time I will squeeze a post in" type of blog. I see other bloggers take this approach as well and it should work for me like it does for them.

Introduction To The Hampton Cardboard Craze

Hopefully it will grab some of your attention as I know many of the bloggers/readers that follow me are mainly baseball fanatics. I have been working on this blog for over a month slowly adding things and ideas I might do and wanted to make sure I did it right before I released it. I plan on getting a few posts put together on it soon that way I start to get some content on there.

By now you are probably wondering what I meant "plus notes",well, those are about this blog.I have been noticing a few changes in terms of this blog viewings on here to see what is interesting to you guys and what doesn't work. That will be taken into consideration for changes I may make later on as I hope to have more NEW content/stories by April. I have plenty of fresh ideas to add in. For now, the stuff I have been posting is from Sept-Dec that I am way behind on. Yup, you are reading older posts and it will stay that way til a little after March.

Another thing I wanted to note is that I have also been tearing through and sorting like mad in my collection as I have been re-doing the way I sorted things. It's a lot, and I mean A LOT, of work to undo a collection to re-organize it all over whether you have 200 cards or 2,000 cards or even 200,000 cards. I have finally decided to do everything by team instead of by brand, year and number and tearing that apart was heartbreaking at first, but a relief after I dug in. I will put together a post on this BIG project at some point.

I have had fun being able to take time out to re-sort and seeing some of the cards I have picked up over the years. I must also say I am glad in more than one way I made the choice to re-organize as I found some cards that will make for some great posts later on when things are caught up.

Good Bye For Now The Football Briefing

It was a very hard decision to make, but we have decided to retire The Football Briefing Blog for now. We love the sport of Football and gave it our all on the blog. But the support and numbers just weren't there for us to continue on. We originally thought about deleting it, but instead, we will preserve it just in case one day we go back.

On an average day, we got only 11 views. When putting up a post, we averaged 27. Just didn't seem the time we were putting in on the blog was equaling out the feedback we had hoped for. Comments on our posts were rare as well.
