Rodney's Cardboard:1991 Upper Deck NY Giants Super Bowl XXXV Champions Salute (MULTIPLE AUTOGRAPHS)

Well, well, well.

A really super cool, really unique piece popped up in August for my Rodney Hampton and I didn't hesitate one second to make an offer.

The surprising factor was the seller put it up for auction at $10 or make an offer and I made a $10 offer and they accepted it.BOOM WIN.

The seller must have bought the 1991 Upper Deck New York Giants Super Bowl XXV Commemorative Sheet and had it signed by the players at some point. There is more autographs than featured players on the front of this.

Even though I am a die hard Giants fan and love all of the players that signed this, one player in particular was my aim and I have seen enough Rodney signature to know this is authentic. Mr. Rodney Hampton signed right over the top of his Upper Deck card in the top left corner.

 

Each of these pieces by Upper Deck is numbered to 72,000 with mine I bet being one of the more unique ones out there.

Now I want just the base version which I see that Dave And Adams sells currently under $10. I just need an Dave and Adams order again sometime. It's been 6 years since my last. Unless I can find a trader buddy who can help.

Cards On FOOTBALL Cards

On Twitter, I saw a tweet from Cards on Cards that he had discovered some football card finds from Goodwill and was looking to move them.

I see that as an opportunity knowing how much I love collecting football cards.

So I checked out his post and noticed that the cards fell right into my liking with most of it being 90's parallels and inserts. So we had a discussion and pulled off a trade.

My mail day arrived a few days ago so let's take a look at what I landed.

Some NY Giants. I know I normally wait to post these for Sunday's, but I am a bit backed up on that already so I am posting them now to get myself caught up. Here are some Topps Gold parallels.

Wild Card was such a deep set. It pretty much covers most of my wants for Hamptons for the early 90's. So hard to find some of these striped parallels.

A few guys I enjoyed watching. Tyrone Wheatley had some great seasons in Oakland just not in NY. Phillipi Sparks made some big plays on defense for the G-men and even is the father of Jordin Sparks who was on American Idol. I will always take in Victor Cruz cards. Wished the guy hadn't gotten injured as he had such a bigger future ahead with the Gmen. But, I do appreciate his time there and his big Super Bowl touchdown in 46.

Love this photo. That appealed to me immediately. Upper Deck did rookie photo shoots the right way.

That ends the Gmen, but he we are with some 90's parallels. Upper Deck Electric Silver.

1995 Classic silvers

I dig the Collectors Choice gold parallels from 1994 and who doesn't love Crash The Game inserts especially of Hall Of Famers. But, the card that really caught me was the Nemeses one on the bottom.

Gold Prism and a Cris Carter to help my set needs from 1995 Ultra awards.

1994 Ultra 2nd year standout inserts include Jason Elam who I consider one of the greatest ever to kick.

I found goooooooooooooold! Gold Rush inserts were some of the coolest early 90's parallels besides....

these. Nothing topped these Special Effects early on. Not even the first refractors from Finest. These are what got me hooked onto football cards. Once again, this would be another fun parallel set to build along with my many others. I just may chase it especially with six more to help me out.

Sunday's With Rodney:1997 Stadium Club Co-Signers Autograph

One of the best autograph sets of all-time and especially of the 90's is Stadium Club Co-Signers.
These sharp looking autograph cards have one side printed with rainbow foil and the other side plain foil with each side featuring one player. The autographs are all on-card and have seemed to held up well over time without fading.

These are not always easy to find as they fall 1:63 packs so it was more than 1:2 boxes to land one. I never pulled one but have picked up a few cheap ones within the last year. However, the one I really needed to continue on with my Hampton Cardboard Craze (like how I did that), was on eBay and I was short funded to get it. I was fortunate enough that a buddy of mine was able to snag it before it ended and we proceeded with a trade afterwards.

And on the back is former Giants player David Meggett. I actually was lucky enough to meet David once at a charity event. He has a really nice signature. None of that two letter stuff we see today.

Even though this knocks a huge need of the Hampton Wantlist, he sadly has a couple of other Co-Signer autographs in the set I may never find.

Other than going to Church on Sundays, one of my other favorite Sunday activities to do is watching football. What better time to post about it, hence, this new segment. I am not sure what direction I am heading yet with the Hampton Cardboard Craze blog, but I thought in this segment I could post some key cards I have until my decision is made.

The Time That I...met some NY Giants!

I must have been around 8 when the NY Giants came to our local College for a basketball charity for the college. They had done it the previous year, but I had missed out on going. So this time my father this time, my father made sure we got to go. It was an awesome experience. Watching Dave Meggett attempt to dunk (for those of you who know him, he's not the tallest guy around) and a few others interact with fans in the crowd calling the little kids out to play with them. I wasn't lucky enough to be chosen, but did get seats up front.

At the end of the hoops, each Giants player sat at a table and everyone had to wait in lines to get autographs. I managed to get autographs of Dave Megget, Ed McCaffrey (still not sure about this one) and Chris Calloway. Was a great experience. I wished they still did that here. But it was only just for those 2 years. But I was glad to had been able to go once.
