Another Cardpocalypse Hits My Mail Box

For awhile now, @CardpocalypseNC and myself have been working on a slow moving but progressing trade. It originally all started with a Phillip Lindsay rookie card I had pulled for a card I really wanted, but then turned into much more.

Sometimes trades are like my homemade pizza dough, they start out as yeast, then turn out to be double the size of the bowl I put it in. It's amazing how fast it can rise sometimes. I am talking both the trade and the pizza dough.

A lot of this mail day I won't reveal until a later date, but for now I will be posting teases for those and the other cards I was able to acquire.

 

Here is a GIANT stack of GIANTS.

 

My man Junior! Great way to kick off 2019 by adding 40 new ones. What they are..well you will have to wait.

 

Set needs!!! This was tremendous that @CardpocalypseNC was able to chase down some of my 90's set needs and find that he had a lot of help for me.

 

Speaking of set needs, here is my final piece for my 1996 Topps Broadway Review set! Boom! Two sets down already and we are only in February. However, the next ones won't be as easy.

 

Saquon! Can't wait til he hits the field next year.

1971 Topps Game Insert of Fran Tarketon. Beautiful card! This was a surprise from Tim I didn't know was coming.

 

Eugene Porter Walking Dead relic for my non sport PC.

 

Still trying to decide what this relic is from, assuming it's a glove, but all I do know is that it's awesome. Great looking card with the bold NY Giants colors and add in the unique relic with the number three showing, big time bonus.

 

And the card that started the trade is the last one I showed. For awhile now I have been wanting to add a Kevin Hart autograph to my non sport PC and now I have one! Boom! Laura Dern being on it is just a bonus. So many great non sport adds recently to that PC and it's all been unplanned up to this point.

A big thanks goes out to @CardpocalypseNC for a great trade and I know both of us are already working hard on getting stuff ready for the next one. I look forward to it.

The Big Cat Delivers

I know that one of my resolutions at the beginning of the year was to cut down on trading with so many new people, mostly because last year I had wasted so much time digging stuff out to trade just to have it fall through, but there were some cards I was interested in posted by @TheBigCat63 that I just had to try and get.

So we talked some in messages and out of nowhere bloomed a big time trade. There were cards I got to have first dibs on before they were even posted. Those I am very excited about and most are on this post today but some more coming up over the next few days. Not only was he very nice to talk to, he was very easy to trade with, threw in some great freebies and is new to trading online as well. I am hoping my posts over the next few days will help him gain new trading friends.

Let's check out part one of this three part mail day posting.

 

He tossed in a ton of Blue parallels for 2015 Americana with roughly half I needed for my set chase. He even tossed in some Freeze Frames for that set as well and all were new.

 

My man Hootie! A Hootie insert along with some numbered parallels from Panini Country Music.

 

Al Jardine relic. I can't say this enough, non sport relics are awesome.

 

David Marks relic. Once again, very cool.

 

Legendary Ginger Rogers. I love these older relics Panini put in Americana. I just wished the product line would make a return.

 

Not sure who Joe Giduice is, but hey, it's a non sport relic. So it works.

 

A pair of Bette Davis relics. And yes, she definitely has Bette Davis eyes.

 

Jane Russell relic. Bright red!

 

Mickey Rourke relic. He has been in about a million films.

 

And finally funny man Kevin Hart. I recently traded for another piece for my collection involving him. That will be posted soon as well.  I know some don't like him but I am a fan and enjoy most of his movies. I still need to see Night School Any of you see it?

Breakin Wax:2015 Topps Baseball Series 2 10-Hobby Pack Break

Day 3 of my vacation breaks takes us to 2015 Topps Series 2 hobby packs. My straight aim with these was to get a Kris Bryant rookie card. I didn't really want to buy a whole box, but managed to buy 10 packs worth over three days. Did I get my Bryant? Well, read on!

In every hobby pack of 2015 Topps Series 2 baseball are 10 cards. Those 10 will consist of veterans, rookies and an insert or two. Packs should run around $2-2.50 which is what I paid for these.

The base card design is the same as Series 1 and is still the best in years for Topps.

My rookies. Yup....no Bryant. #sad

Gold parallels. These are all numbered to 2015.

Rainbow foil, really cool, fall 1:10 packs.

Til It's Over. Wasn't really a fan of this design. These fall 1:8 packs.

Eclipsing History was an impressive design. I liked it. Along with the Stepping Up insert design as well. Highlight Of The Year (top) falls 1:4, Eclipsing History falls 1:10 and Stepping Up falls 1:6

A Topps Bunt insert. I will not be holding onto this as I MUCH PREFER real cards over digital ones, so I will be giving it away or trading it. Haven't figured that out yet.

My first ever Call Your Shot Game. I believe these fall 1:12. I will be sharing my results in a future post and let you know how it turned out.

The Heart Of The Order insert brings me back to the 90's. This is the kind of stuff Topps needs to put out for inserts. These look good enough to put a set together of. If they did more good insert designs like this, their inserts might actually have pop again. Quite impressed. These fall 1:6.

And I know lot of people don't like finding celebs in their baseball cards but I loved it. Topps should continue this set going forward. Sadly out of my 10 packs I only got one, but it's Kevin Hart so that was okay. I do hope to get the Gabriel Iglesias and Stan Lee ones as well. I would also strongly encourage Topps to do autograph versions.

Overall, some nice stuff. I was quite impressed with insert designs in Series 2 and I hope this carries over to next year along with the base card designs. Keep up the good improvements Topps!
