Until The Next Trade

I haven't been big-time trading much recently; it just feels so time consuming. Not that it isn't rewarding in the end, but it just takes time I haven't had recently.

Just look at my recent trade with blog reader Oren.

I am slacking on mailing out his end of the trade and he mailed his out almost immediately. I feel awful that I haven't been able to get it out sooner, but it's just part of life I guess. It's also why I will continue to cut back on doing more trades with others until time and energy to dig out stuff can be found.

So, for now, I will enjoy this one from Oren.

A couple of set needs. I believe I am a ways from this one still.

Then I took these announcer/media cards. I always liked these in sets. Wished Panini would include them now.

Steve Sabol card. Not sure if this is a rookie or not, but glad to have it. Always watched his football follies growing up.

I was surprised when I double checked and didn't have any of these. I would have thought with all of the "junk" I have it was sitting in there somewhere.

Mo Vaughn subset. Really nice shiny design.

Why can't companies make great looking parallels like Ultra Gold medallions of the 90's? Because there is nothing like 90's cards.

 

Final card, another new relic for my side Curtis Martin PC. And look....another thing companies don't do much of anymore, especially for football, GAME USED!!!

Parts Of My Past Update!

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to give a quick update today on some other things I have been working on with this blog. Off to the right side of the blog, I know many of you don't look over there too often, I have been working really hard on updating some areas underneath the Set Needs By Year and Collection Notes.

Under Set Needs By Year, I have been adding new sets on a weekly basis to those. I will give you the list in this post as well. If you have any kind of set help for me, please drop me a line at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com and maybe we can work out a PWE trade unless you are just looking to get rid of them and that works as well. Most of what I am looking for would be considered junk to many, but not me.

I have also been adding all of my Ken Griffey Jr cards to a spreadsheet so I will know what my needs are when people approach me with Griffeys. Up to this point, I have up to 1997 done so far, it's such a long grueling process and not one I choose as a top free time, and will be starting 1998 soon. I have so far found a good stack of dupes that I have been sticking into a trade pile.

My Rodney Hampton tab at the top of the blog is always updated and raring to go. I recently discovered that COMC has many needs for me on there! I don't have a COMC account nor the funds to buy them if I did, so if you want to pick them up and work out a trade let me know as well!

As for the blog itself, I may add some new 90's segments in this week or over the next few weeks along with possibly a mail day recap post of newer stuff I may have gotten from the week if I did get any, it's been a slow go on mail. \Just trying to mix in some new stuff on here.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new format. I have heard good feedback so far, at least to my face, and there is much more to come including a story of the naked man. Yes, it is exactly what I stated it is.

Dennis Is Watching

Dennis over at Too Many Verlanders blog fame, had posted a couple months ago he had been watching bloggers want lists and set needs as he, like the rest of us, doesn't like to see unfinished projects. I was one of the fortunate 13 bloggers who were mailed set help and more from him.

Up first, that spoken of set help. Dennis helped me put to sleep a couple of 2015 Score football insert sets,

and the last base card I needed for the 2015 Americana Base set (now time for the insert and parallel ones)

He also sent me a needed card for my Spx set chase. This one is for 1996 baseball that I have more than half completed.

A card towards my Hot Commodities Sets Of My Childhood chase.

I think this was supposed to be a card towards my Diamond Kings set chase for 1993, but it's a 1992 card. Which is fine because I like it regardless. Fielder was a Yank at one time.

Along with set help, Dennis also passed some new Giants along. This isn't an easy task for anyone to do. But, he headed straight for the inserts/numbered cards which is the easiest place to head when it comes to picking up Giants cards for me. Unless you are targeting Saquon Barkley.

New Andre Williams relic. I wished this guy had panned out. What a PC of him I have.

David Wilson absolutely sick patch. Topps Platinum had some great looking stuff and the hits from the product were always superb.

Not only did Dennis tackle Giants, but he helped add some new Rodney Hampton cards. Been so long with my focus on the Psych and Ghostbuster autograph sets since I have added to this PC. It's been neglected, just not forgotten.

This Rodney isn't new however, but every time I see it brings me back to the story of how I got it which I have told many times on here. I am sure if you searched Riding Along With Rodney or something like that you will find it.

These four on the other hand are new. Finally finished up my Crash The Game needs for 1994 Collectors Choice. Same goes for the 2001 Topps Archives football.

Older Pacific need done! My older 90's Hamptons are really being narrowed down on my needs list but still plenty of cheap options to find.

Game Day 1994. These are oversized cards. I now have all but the 1993 Gameday McDonalds card.

Yes! Loved these cards and have a ton of them except the Hampton. This is the silver version. Now I just need the gold to finally end this search as well.. We don't have fun game chases like this in the hobby anymore. And we wonder why the 90's were so great.

And a first for my collection and one I have always wanted. A 1997 Stadium Club Instavision card that fell back then 1:24 packs and yet I never seemed to pull one. So this is a first and it's pretty cool.

I held it into the light to give it better effect.

 

Lots of great stuff from Dennis here as you see. Him and I have quite a bit in common especially with our love of Ken Griffey Jr and late 90's inserts. Speaking of Griffey, I now really want the Instavision of him.

1996 Spx Baseball Set Needs

A few months, at least, ago I showed off a box of 1996 Spx baseball that I busted and mentioned I wanted to complete the set of. Well, I finally have those needs down in writing. 

Here is what I am missing. 30 to be exact:
