RAK Friday Takes Flight!

Every Friday on Twitter, I host a RAK (random acts of kindness) thread where you list what you collect and search what everyone else does and find someone to send a mail day to. It's a pretty easy concept that has grown week by week.

One of my last threads on there, a new follower liked my concept and said he would like to pass me something along as a thanks.

The generosity in this hobby is amazing.

@MikeyC1044 sent out my RAK pretty fast and I got it a few days later.

Inside was a mini mail day. You will see what I did there when you look below.
Some sports minis. A couple of players for my player binder and the rest for my inserts.

Cabrera goes in my player binders as well.

A new piece for my non sport PC with Behemoths Beneath. The oddballs in this product is the true allure of it.

And a key card off my Top 20 want list is this Ken Jeong mini. I still need the base card but this is a start. Besides wanting the autograph.

Thanks to Mikey C for the mail day and for joining in on my thread every Friday. I hope everyone who hasn't joined in yet on my threads, will do so. It's a lot of fun to make someone else's day and in 2020, we all could use some extra smiles.

Box Of Goodies:Grady M Strikes AGAIN! Part 1

It doesn't seem that long ago when I posted 10 days worth of goodies I received in a box from Sport Card Collectors reader, Grady M.

Well, once again he filled my mail box with another signature box full of insert goodies.

I forgot to post the box size, but it was huge. And just like last time I am not able to post it all but instead will post some key pieces. But believe me, this box was loaded with Yankees, Giants, inserts from all sports and tons of shiny options.

Today, I am kicking it off with some mini's and some basketball cards.

Some nice inserts from Threads with some top all star players.

Up next, mini mania. He usually packs at least 50-100 mini's in a penny sleeve and sneaks them in towards the bottom of the box. Sometime I need to see where I am at for a mini set.

These mini's cover, Allen&Ginter, Gypsy Queen and Goodwin Champions and Golden Age.

And even a couple of mini numbered cards.

Overall, a good way to kick off another great Grady M mail day. More posts to come.

A Mini Problem:Grady M Mail Day Part 1

He we go. The kickoff showcase to that massive mail day that I got from reader Grady M about a month ago starts today. These will be spread out over the month of August and will feature roughly 11 posts. Like I said, it was massive.

Today's showcases only a FEW of the at least 50-60 mini cards that he included in the mail day. This only showcases the parallels and not the many, many others that I got.

A good variety of teams and players showcased here covering a few different numbered parallels. Some numbered to 99.

Even more parallels. I should look at putting some of these sets together even though I know I am still a ways off.

Yes, this one isn't a parallel, but it stood out to me since I like non-sport related cards. My first, first-lady card.

And my favorite card of the group is this rainbow foil mini. I didn't know these existed but they are beautiful if you haven't seen them. McCovey isn't a shabby one to have either. I was surprised though these weren't numbered.
My mini problem is finding a way to store these lol. I usually just put them in regular-sized page sheets but they fall out occasionally. And with this many in bulk, that could turn out an issue. So was curious how you guys stored minis?

MINI MANIA! A Grady M. Mail Day Part 3

In Part 3 of my Grady M. mail day, we look at a bunch of minis. The last mail day I received from him was loaded as well with minis and you won't hear any complaints from me.

So let's take a gander at which ones arrived this time.

We start out with a bunch from Gypsy Queen. One of my more favorite Topps products.

The Altuve is awesome. Gotta appreciate the Astros throwback uni's on a card.

Lot's of players swinging away here.

And we close up the Gypsy Queen part of the minis here.

Next up, some from Allen And Ginter. I like the pop culture addition to Allen And Ginter so these minis are a bit more fun.

Mini parallels here! Bam!
Mini mania has overtaken over a binder now with these recent additions. Would be fun to put together a full mini set from one product or the other, but could be a daunting task. Guess it depends on how far along I am first.

Thanks for reading and Part 4 will be posted up tomorrow!

Review: 2 Topps Update Baseball retail packs

Been hearing so much about this product decided to pick up a couple of packs. First impression was this product isn't that bad. For around $2 a pack..I think we did okay.

Packaging: It stands out as it was easy to find on the shelf. And it has Bryce Harper on the front...that will draw enough attention.

Base Card
Back of a Base card...this one is rookie Matt Adams pictured below
Base Card: Not bad, wished Topps would minimize their white borders a little and give us more photography like Upper Deck did with their MLB cards. But updated uniforms for mid season traded players and free agents is great.

Rookie Cards: They blend in with the base except that dreaded rookie logo. But love the addition of late rookies that were not included in the first two series.

Back Of the Jed Lowrie Gold parallel numbered to 2012

Back Of Jackie Robinson mini
Inserts: I like the designs the sparkle and the mini's. What I don't like is how easy these inserts are to come by. You get at least two or three per pack. Thats way too many. I would like to see that many per box. Make then more rare. Make them worth money. There are some base cards now-a-days that are worth more than an insert card. That's a lot different from the 90's.

Auto: N/A

Memorabilia:N/A

Overall: Rookie cards and updated uniforms for players is what we like about this product. The inserts are aplenty so it will be easy to get your money back out of retail packs.
