Let's Talk About Sets Volume Who Knows?:New Set Adds

Let's talk about sets baby...let's talk about new adds for me...let's talk about the shiny, acetate and 90s they can be...let's talk about sets.

I am getting so close on so many sets, but getting so low on funds that it's not a good combination.

At least I was able to knock down some needs for two of my most wanted set finishes.

Set adds number one was three new ones knocked down my Ex2000 baseball set. Think I have roughly 9 more to go

Ground Zero I have been knocking down bigger chunks out at a time. It's only a 200 card set but man, it's a tough one. I have been killing it with knocking down the smaller pieces of this set but still am missing so many of the bigger name players.

This time it was 15 new ones from a seller who runs a buy 4 get 2 free special. He has been a huge help. However, his singles are getting down to the more expensive ones so not sure how much longer I will stick with his stuff.

My hope is to binder these sets soon along with a few others. Sets look best in a binder than in a plastic box. Especially when they look this good.

Episode 4:Kerry Collins Makes A Visit

There was a lot of excitement for me when Kerry Collins was drafted in 1995. First, he was one of the top rookies of the draft everyone wanted to collect. Secondly, he was playing for a cool new expansion team and last, for some reason he just caught on with me even with me being a Giants fan.

Collins came out with average rookie numbers with 2, 717 yards, 14 TD's and 19 ints. Rookies always have the high interception ratio. His second year was better and actually so much better that he led the Panthers to the NFC Championship game. I was beyond stoked for that one. But, Green Bay walloped them in that game sadly.. It was also cool to see the other expansion team from 1995 make it to the AFC Championship game as well, but more on that another time.

So let's check out some of the 90's cards I got from @card_a_holic for Collins in my big mail day.

Card that feels like a real football? Sign me up!

One of my favorite all time sets I own. I don't mind adding dupes of these

The good ole days of Stadium Club football. Sigh.

Playoff Illusions was one great looking set, came with some spectacular inserts too

Haven 't seen one of these yet, pretty cool.

#mood

Didn't have this rookie of Kerry Collins so was a new addition there.

Sadly on this card there was really only one star.

Yes! It was definitely a season to remember

This was a one and done product, I liked it but was hard to keep them mint with the black on the card

Run!

Have I mentioned yet that Collins ended up on my Giants?! Yes sir! He also led them to the first Super Bowl I got to watch with the Giants in it and also to a huge 41-0 win over the Vikings in the NFC Championship game I will never forget.

Great looking set and even more fun parallels

Same goes with this one

Can I say another great set with every card? Yep I have no problem with that.

Trying to build this acetate set I remember busting in 1996. This is the start to it

Kerry wasn't messing around

Once again, another set I am chasing. How cool are these??

And two cards from 1997 Pinnacle Inscriptions and you guessed it, another set chase.

Thanks goes out to Brian for the Collins PC adds. I should go back and see where my PC of his stands now and maybe print off a checklist.

More cards to show from this mail day soon!

LET'S GO BACK IN TIME! 1998 Ex2001 SET!!

After many years of wanting this set, I finally pulled the trigger.

Steel City Collectibles had just picked up a TON of sets from 1998 containing Peyton Manning rookies. I for one, immediately checked out what they had. When I stumbled upon this set, I knew I had to have it! Not only was it one of my favorite products from the late 90's, but with the "bonus" being a Peyton Manning rookie in the set, I knew for $29.99 this was a bargain. I must also mention they shipped it in a binder with pages as well so you have got to consider the cost of that too.

So without further ado, enjoy the following gallery. Try not to fall in love with it, because it's mine and it's not going anywhere.

Here comes the Peyton!

And I can't forget about Ryan Leaf...I mean Randy Moss! Not to mention Charles Woodson and Fred Taylor!
This is going to have a great place in my 90's collection. I hope to pick up EX2000 set as well someday.

This is one of two sets I have picked up from this era recently. You will have to wait til next Sunday to view that one. However in the meantime, comments on this set and guesses on the next one are welcomed!
