Wrestling For My Life Book Review And GIVEAWAY!!

 

For those of us who like to read and may be feeling a bit down, a faith based book as Wrestling For My Life is a key pick-me-up.

When you think of Christian athletes you hear names like Russell Wilson and Tim Tebow, but did you know that Shawn Michaels is one as well. I didn't. That alone was a reason to pick-up this book as I was intrigued by that thought. I always look at wrestlers as mean as they come but there is another side of them.

In Wrestling for My Life, Shawn Michaels opened up about his days in being in the WWE and the many different struggles he went through. He began the book by sharing how he became addicted to pain pills after suffering from extreme pain from his injuries in wrestling. He admitted that some days he took up to thirty-five pills a day. Which you would imagine from the hits, trips and falls they take that some would be needed. But, obviously that amount is a bit much.

His wife, Rebecca prayed daily that God would come rescue her husband and set him free. That moment came when his two year old son, Cameron crawled up on him while he was resting after taking a few pain pills and said, “Daddy’s tired”.  Sometimes even the littlest things can lead you in the right direction. Especially if it involves your kids.

Shawn then was led by the Lord to find a local church to attend in Cornerstone. He began to increase his knowledge in God by joining in on a Bible study group as well and surrounding himself with supporting Christian friends. Soon enough he was led to salvation by asking Jesus into his heart and was saved. After doing that, his life began to change as the addiction went away and he began to work in a Christian ministry working with various Churches, charities and organizations.

It's simply amazing how God can turn your life around when all you have to do is find Him. Sometimes He finds you in amazing ways like with Shawn and through his son.

There is a lot more to this book that I won't give all away including an amazing photo gallery in the middle. I would recommend this book to everyone. It's a great read from cover to cover and to see the changes that God made in Shawn's life was amazing. I will say however if you like Wrestling, hunting, family and faith, you are covered here.

BOOK REVIEW" Beyond Championships: A Playbook for Winning at Life AND CONTEST!!

Most of us spend times daily trying to figure out situations and troubles in our lives. This leaves some of us searching for answers and where to go next. Each chapter also begins with a inspiring quotes from famous inspirational leaders from Winston Churchill to Maya Angelou

Without giving away too much of the book (cause honestly, then you wouldn't give it a much needed read), between the covers this book has tons of useful insight that could be life changing. I couldn't set it down once I started. Was a blessing to read.

If you are looking to help improve your life in many ways or need a present for someone who needs some guidance, I strongly recommend this book.

REVIEW: Sidelined By Chuck Pagano+GIVEAWAY!

I was recently given the opportunity to review Sidelined, by Chuck Pagano to review for you guys.

 

Sidelined starts out with Pagano's history to becoming Head Coach of the Indianaopolis Colts then moves on at a good pace to his battle with leukemia that kept him SIDELINED because of the side effects chemotherapy and months of recovery.

This wasn't easy for a first time head coach who just took over a team. But, to keep him in "the game" he kept in constant contact with his players, staff and assistants from his hospital bed through many ways including email and text. 

Chuck never gave up and through faith he was strong and determined to beat cancer which helped inspire the Colts on the field with their play in which the team responded finishing 11-5 for their coach. The players weren’t the only ones touched by Pagano’s hope and strength of character, he inspired thousands of fans that came together to create the #CHUCKSTRONG movement that helped raise millions to beat cancer. Every Colts game you watched that season was #CHUCKSTRONG. 

We all have heard parts of this story, but you don't get the full story or heart behind it without reading this book. I don't want to giveaway much more details about the book because you will want to read it for yourself. Believe me, you will be moved.

Overall, this book I found very moving. Coach Pagano was an inspiration to me watching that football season in showing me that my little problems are nothing to overcome as long as you have faith especially since he overcame such a big obstacle.God is good and amazing in so many ways. I think the book was a great read from cover to back and I would recommend it to any football or non-football fan. There is also 8 tremendous pages of full color photos in the middle of the book that will make you both feel sad and smile as it shows what #CHUCKSTRONG was all about. Chuck didn't just inspire his team, he inspire the Colts and their fans, he also inspired the NFL and the world. This book shows that.

REVIEW: Every Boy Needs A HERO DVD + DVD GIVEAWAY!!

In the game of baseball, you may face some challenges. Hitting, pitching, catching or just base running. In the game of life, you also face some challenges such as sin, death, finances and other small or big challenges. In this movie, Joe Finn, faces both.

The storyline starts as Joe Finn, a father and husband, left town for a big scouting opportunity in the city for 7 years leaving behind his wife and son, David. Joe was only trying to what was best for his family by taking a bigger job so he can provide them with more. What he didn't realize, was the impact of him not being there would make.

Before Joe left, you find out the strong role that baseball played in the relationship between father and son as the dad was the coach of the son's team called The Gappers.

When Joe finally returned back to town, he found out that things were not quite the same as he left. His wife was dying of cancer, his son was unforgiving of him leaving and was soon headed for college in a few weeks, and the game of baseball that he loved wasn't quite the same either.

In an attempt to win back his son, he went back to the game they both love, baseball. So Joe joined coaching with David, who was coaching The Gappers at the time, and they worked together to overcome their differences in which they turned the team, that seemed to have no potential and absent fathers, to a winning team and even got the fathers who were once absent to show up and help out their sons. The impact that Joe and David's new relationship was making, even had an impact on a father in jail discovers a new way of helping his son from within the prison cell.

Without giving away the entire movie in my review, cause honestly, then you wouldn't need to watch, all I can say that it was a great watch from start to finish. It wasn't just a normal baseball movie focusing on just baseball and winning, it was much deeper than that and the relationships we can form with the sport. The movie is great on many levels and has some humor, makes you smile at the relationships being formed and most importantly teaches you forgiveness. As God is always forgiving us, we sometimes need to do the same to others. If you have time to watch this movie, I highly recommend it.
