Sidelined starts out with Pagano's history to becoming Head Coach of the Indianaopolis Colts then moves on at a good pace to his battle with leukemia that kept him SIDELINED because of the side effects chemotherapy and months of recovery.
This wasn't easy for a first time head coach who just took over a team. But, to keep him in "the game" he kept in constant contact with his players, staff and assistants from his hospital bed through many ways including email and text.
Chuck never gave up and through faith he was strong and determined to beat cancer which helped inspire the Colts on the field with their play in which the team responded finishing 11-5 for their coach. The players weren’t the only ones touched by Pagano’s hope and strength of character, he inspired thousands of fans that came together to create the #CHUCKSTRONG movement that helped raise millions to beat cancer. Every Colts game you watched that season was #CHUCKSTRONG.
We all have heard parts of this story, but you don't get the full story or heart behind it without reading this book. I don't want to giveaway much more details about the book because you will want to read it for yourself. Believe me, you will be moved.
Overall, this book I found very moving. Coach Pagano was an inspiration to me watching that football season in showing me that my little problems are nothing to overcome as long as you have faith especially since he overcame such a big obstacle.God is good and amazing in so many ways. I think the book was a great read from cover to back and I would recommend it to any football or non-football fan. There is also 8 tremendous pages of full color photos in the middle of the book that will make you both feel sad and smile as it shows what #CHUCKSTRONG was all about. Chuck didn't just inspire his team, he inspire the Colts and their fans, he also inspired the NFL and the world. This book shows that.
