Who You Gonna Call? Part 2

My Master Set chase of Ghostbusters actually began because of one trade I had. When I was able to pull off a trade with DJSeneseiNJ for the toughest autograph in the set, Dan Akroyd, that's when I thought to myself, "I could chase this set now" so I did. Originally it was going to be just the autographs but after completing the Psych Master set, I then decided I might as well tackle this one too.

Ghostbusters was a much tougher chase however.

Let's take a look at the hits in the set.

For some reason or another, the other four autographs in this set picture didn't upload but at least the Akroyd did. So sorry about not having the other ones on here! 

Overall there were 19 autographs in this set to chase.

The next part of the hits I completed were the Replica Patches.

The Rookie one was a binder exclusive.  I do wished I had the binder to store my master set in, well minus autographs.

These patch cards fell 1:72 packs.

Up next, the extremely rare and tough to find slime cards. I had to be two year patient on these.

 

This six card set fell at 1:200 odds each. That's 1:8.3 boxes which would require a lot of ripping and doesn't guarantee you wouldn't find a duplicate.

These hits sum up my Master Set. The next two I am showing off for fun.

There were tons of 1/1 sketch cards in the product. This is the only one I have from it.

 

And same goes for these animation cels . I really like these but can't ever seem to land more than this one which I got for less than $10. Most though are priced at $20 or more.

Someday I would love to add a few more sketch cards and definitely more animation cel cards just to boost this overall collection up a bit more.

Who You Gonna Call? Part 1

Growing up I loved the Ghostbusters. From the movie to the cartoon series to the toys, I was a die hard fan.

Even as an adult, I still enjoy all aspects of Ghostbuters and am counting down until next year's movie sequel. It can't get here fast enough and I was saddened that Covid-19 pushed the movie off til next year.

When I heard that Cryptozoic was making a card set based on Ghostbusters, it was obvious that I needed some. How much of it would I collect? I wasn't sure. I just knew I had to at least have some and at the time I did grab some. 

Fast forward four years later from its release and I am happy to say I have tackled the Master Set.

What do I consider the Master Set to Cryptozoic Ghostbusters as? The base, the inserts, the autographs, slime cards, patch cards and promo cards. Not the 1/1's, as that would be impossible for anyone.

It took me a good year to track down all of the parallels to the base and inserts, but I finally did it. They were not easy to find and I may had taken all available ones as well. Had to order most overseas to even land them.

So in Part 1 of this two-parter, I will be showing off the base, inserts and parallels followed by the hits tomorrow for Part 2.

Last Weeks Mailings

It's Friday again, that's crazy to think about.

I don't know about you, 2020 has been crazy, but the days are flying by. Which is a good and bad thing. I hate to see life flying by, but I don't mind seeing 2020 come to an end before anything else happens.

At least I always have cardboard no matter what 2020 throws my way.

Recently, I pulled off another trade with @CardpocalypseNC who always brings the fire. And this time, brought some set help fire.

A ton of Red Siege needs. TONS.

And look at that, the white slime relic was sent by Tim which finishes up this extremely tough and rare Ghostbusters Slime Set for my Master Set.

And the last card this Game Breakers set help of Bobby Humphrey. (later on I realized Tim helped my RJ Barrett PC with a Panini Sticker)

My next mail day came via Cards On Cards who passed along some NBA love.

My boy John Starks. I always forget he didn't always stay with the Knicks as he went to the Warriors and the Jazz. To me, he will always be a Knick.

And the final mail day is a tease of a mail day. It may have been one of my greater mail days all year so far. Not that all aren't great, but this one hit close to heart/nostalgia.

Fireworks Sent By Wes!

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I am not sure what my plans are for the day, probably will involve some grilling if the weather is right, but I hope you have a great/safe holiday.

Today I will be remembering my grandfather who served in World War 2. I never got to meet him and only have pictures to know him by. The War took many lives including his when he got home from war with PTSD. Some day I wished I could find more answers on what he did when he served and anymore details about him. My grandmother has long passed as well and my father doesn't like to speak much about it which I don't blame him.

But, enough with that.

Recently Wes former JBF, former Area 40 and now with a new blog,The Last PC- Where the Big Boys Play sent me some goodies. Some explosive fireworks.

They were wrapped inside of a Priority Bubbler, which I think is the cheapest/best way to mail right now, and then hidden in bubblers on the inside.

I couldn't decide which one to open first so I busted open a Sticky Mystery....

 

Whoa! Super coooooooooooooool. Ectoplasm slime! I think it said also a figure inside. I will probably bust open two and keep one sealed. I never saw these locally.

Then came the card one....

 

Right off the bat, 1998 Ultra Peyton Manning!! Wooo. Someone reads my want list. Now I just need to get the Peyton from Series 1. This was a big surprise.

The next two cards I knew were coming at some point. Wes graciously helped me with my Ghostbusters Slime set. And yes, before you ask, I really do owe him my life. But I will hit him back with some "sweet" stuff don't you fret.

These slime cards do not pop up often and are extremely rare.

With these two in hand, only...

One more to go for the set. Which spoiler, I do have but it's not quite here yet. When it arrives, I will be sure to post them all together.

Perfect Pairing

Missing Pieces:2016 Cryptozoic Ghostbusters

Welcome to the new plug-in series here on Sport Card Collectors. This series will take you through every single project I am working on and what I am missing from that project. I am hoping it may also spark some help for what I am missing.

It's been 4 long grueling years of chasing down the Master Set of Cryptozoic Ghostbusters which is why I made this the first post in the series. It took me five to do Psych and hoping I can do the same here. The only difference is I won't own every single 1/1 card from the Sketches and Animation Cels in this product. I will take any and all of those I can get my hand on though.

Currently, I sit at one Animation Cel and two sketch cards.

In my opinion those don't count as apart of my Master Set chase since they are 1/1's. Nobody can own all of those as most probably aren't even uncovered from unopened boxes yet.

Recently I have been knocking down some needs for my chase and have narrowed it down to three  TWO insert parallel sets to owning the Master Set of Ghostbusters.

First Missing Pieces, Character Bio Silver Foil. I do have the Dana Barrett silver foil, but not the rest. So I need C1,2,4,5,6,and 7.

 Second Missing Piece, the entire foil set of Sing For Your Specter. So 1-9 is needed.

Third Missing Piece, the toughest of the three, the Tricks And Traps Cryptonium parallel set. I own the foil set, just not this chromed version. Each card in this set fell 1:56 packs so they are not easy finds and not easy to hunt down. Especially for a product that is four years old.

I also may look for these below at some point, not needed, but would be fun add-ons

Busting These Down Makes Me Feel Good

As everyone by now knows, there is something strange going on in my card collecting neighborhood as I have been spending my 2020 trying to complete the master set from Cryptozoic's Ghostbusters product.

2016 Cryptozoic Ghostbusters cards is more than just about the first movie, it covers other parts of the Ghostbusters universe by bringing in the Real Ghostbusters Cartoon along with the IDW comics as well. A lot of fun for the fans in this one. I just wished they had brought a few more of the bigger signers in and some of the second movie which got no love in this set. My hope is that they will come out with a second series at some point.

I have so far completed the autograph set, the base and all five chase insert sets and have begun working on the memorabilia sets and parallel sets.

Unlike Psych that I completed the whole master set of, the Ghostbusters one will be near impossible to ever completely finish. The cards have started to diminish on eBay and other sites and the odds for what I have left to chase weren't easy hits.

I have completed some though and have found a few others towards my sets and thought it would be fun to show off some of those recent adds.

The coolest "hit" set within the product is the Totally Fabricated Slime cards. There is only 6 in the set but they fell tough at 1:200 packs.

Fortunately,  I found two recently but still only have half of the set and from what I can tell, no others have been listed in.....FOREVER.

Class 7 Ectoplasmic Discharge is the final card in the set.

Once again, other than the autographs from the product, those are my favorite cards. Cryptozoic did a great job overall in building this product properly.

Here are my remaining needs if any of you see them in the wild

Falling at 1:96 packs are the Totally Fabricated Patch Cards. These weren't too hard to complete as I bought a lot that contained all but two of the cards pretty cheap.

Then is the binder exclusive Rookie Patch that finishes up my 9 card set

Along with autographs, slime and patch cards there were also parallel cards to all base and inserts. Those weren't going to be easy to find as well.

 

First, I needed the foil parallel to the base set. Worked out a deal with a guy and landed it without giving up my soul. There are 54 cards in this parallel set and they fell 1:4 packs.

I still have two more foil insert sets to find in Sing For Your Specter and Character Bios. Hopefully they will pop up as a completed set at some point so I wouldn't have to try and piece it together. There is also a Tricks and Traps Cryptomium set which is basically a chromed version of that insert.

What I haven't mentioned yet is the 1/1 sketch cards and 1/1 Animation Cel cards that are also in the product. When it comes to those, I don't consider them apart of the main chase as they are 1/1's. You're never going to get ALL of those. So, when it comes to those, I will just try to add what I can when I can. The main chase is the ones I need above. So far I only have one Animation Cel and two sketch cards.

Oh yea, there are 1/1 printing plates to.

I knew what I was taking on when I decided to make the chase for this product. I think at some point the parallel sets will be found so it basically will be if I can find the remaining three slime cards which may never happen and I will just have to deal with it cause WHO AM I GOING TO CALL?

Overall Look At Cryptozoic Ghostbusters

As you guys have read the last couple of days, I am chasing the Cryptozoic Ghostbusters cards. So here is a recap post of what I need.

The way I look at this set, there is only one true way to build a master set with so many 1/1's involved. You. need to do the following.

1. Build the 54 card base set
2. Collect at five chase sets
3. Build the 54 card base SILVER board base parallel set
4. Build ALL 5 Chase Sets Silver Board Parallel Sets
5. Get the Cryptomium Variant set of Tricks and Traps cards
6. Collect all 9 of the Patch Cards
7. Collect All 6 Of The fabricated Slime cards
8. ADD as many of the 1/1 Printing Plates. Animation Cel, and Sketch cards I can. 
9. Collect the Ghostbusters 2 original set. I don't believe they made a set for the first movie.

So far I have the base card set, the five chase sets, one of the Cryptomium Variant cards, 7 of the 9 patch cards, 2 of 6 Slime cards, one Animation Cel and two Sketch Cards.

So I obviously have a long way to go with this one.

This one will take a lot longer than Psych I believe as there are many small and big pieces to chase. The Slime cards will be the toughest to do as they aren't easy to find. I am mad at myself for not staying up five minutes longer as I felt I had one locked down, but just missed out on a important one to the Slime set by .50. FIFTY CENTS.

But, it happens and I will keep my eye out for anymore needs that pop up.

Ghostbusters Totally Fabricated Replica Patch

Yesterday, I showed off my base card and chase sets. Today, I am showing off some Totally Fabricated Replica Patch Cards man.

These patch cards were not easy finds falling at a rate of 1:96 packs which is one in four boxes. Yikes!

Luckily for me, I found a partial set I scored for under $20 and was super excited about doing so. It's only missing two cards.

That's seven out of nine cards in the set.

I know most of the time I complain about manufactured relic cards, but in this situation, I will take em. Even though finding a relic from the actors worn would have been so much better, these work to fill the void and felt needed in this product which was well rounded. Possibly an even better product than Psych. I know, I know.
