Giant's Sunday: Brent Sent These

It's Sunday and another Game Day for the boys in Blue. Today, the Gmen are on the road after their home beatdown by the Seahawks.

It doesn't get any easier today on the road either as they face one of the league's best teams in the Miami Dolphins.

It could get ugly fast with both sides of the ball playing terrible.

All I can hope is that this guy can get healthy and play this week. They will need him.

I keep waiting for the guys from last year to step up their game as well. Kayvon had a sack last week but otherwise wasn't around. WanDale was probably the best receiver last week but that's not saying much.

It's almost like they forgot about this guy as well. He is a speedster who has decent hands that hasn't even been apart of the offense this season.

Well, what offense they have had.

Okay, enough with my disappointing rant about this season.

Let's just look at some cards.

Always been fond of Landon Collins. Last year's Pick 6 that pretty much secured the Giants playoff spot against the Colts will always stick in my mind as the biggest play for this team since the Manningham catch in Super Bowl 46.

My third Darnay Holmes autograph.

Two relics I didn't have in my Darius Slayton PC. I am thinking some days maybe I need to put my Slayton PC on TCDB as well and see where I rank.

Julian Love autographs. I think Panini liked using this photo a few times.

Another Love autograph, but with a different photo this time.

The X-man is on the roster, but on the practice squad. He hasn't lived up to the hype that was around him for a while. I kept hoping he was going to help this pass rush that needs it.

Well, I am sure I will be watching today's game, maybe covering my eyes by the beginning of the second quarter.

Thanks again to Brent (@Brent3323) for the Giants cards. Even with a lost season, I at least have these cards to enjoy.

I must also note that Brent also sent me some stuff to help me build up a Christmas gift. Great guy!

Landon Some Collins

I decided I wasn't really a fan of Unintentional Rainbow segment, so instead I will embed those cards in their own posts.

Such as today's cards that I got from Shane in my latest trade with the Cheap Wax Wednesday guru.

Landon Collins was drafted by the NY Giants in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and was one heck of a player. Which is why it was so surprising they let him walk away in 2018 to the rival Washington Football Team (I will never get used to calling them that)

And even though he isn't on the team, I am still more than happy to add his cards such as these 2015 Topps Chrome parallels.

(blue with Giants blue=hobby happiness)

and....
All four grouped together.

I considered looking at doing a rainbow chase, but looking at his prices and the fact not a lot of them are out there it seems near impossible to do. But, if I see a few laying around here and there I may just add them.

Here is the 2015 Topps Chrome chase and so far I have,
Base, Refractor,Purple Refractor, Green Refractor, Orange Refractor, Diamond Refractor, Blue Wave Refractor, Pulsar Refractor, STS Camo Refractor /499, BCA Pink Refractor /399, Black Refractor /299, Blue Refractor /199, Sepia Refractor /99, Gold Refractor /50, Red Refractor /25, SuperFractor 1/1, and Printing Plates 1/1

Thanks again to Shane for these.

Bubba's Got Me Feeling The Blues

I have made some great friends in the hobby, especially thanks to Twitter.

I know a lot of the bloggers don't like the platform, but for this blogger, without it, the hobby would be even more dead around me than it already is.

For me, Twitter is a great trading spot, it also gives you a visual into some cards you may want to add (not that blogging doesn't), and a place where you can talk to people. Not just in a day post, but even a little bit more personal through messages and check in on them to see how they are doing. You know, that real friendship. Though most of us are miles apart, we can still connect through Twitter and be a friend there.

And one of those good friends I have met because of Twitter is Bubba's Sports Cards. Such a great guy and friend.

He recently surprised me once again with a package full of goodies even though they had me feeling some blue. Well, besides the fact they are Giants.

This one here reminds me of the greatest Pinnacle base card designs and product ever. Now it's no longer apart of the hobby.

This card here reminded me dufex.  Can't ever see that again.

This one here is a reminder of some Giants that have moved on.

 Same here.

 And here.

This one reminds me that Panini does have the power to make a great looking football card insert, but doesn't do it enough consistently.

These Rodney Hamptons remind me of the 1/1 Die Cut black autograph I almost had if the guy hadn't backed out on my deal. Now I may never see the two black 1/1's I need for Select to finish the rainbow.

 (sick patch)

Both Davis Webb cards make me sad as I thought he would be the future for Eli. Guy never even had an opportunity. So many wasted draft picks the two seasons before this one on drafting a QB they never planned on using as Eli's replacement. And they were 3rd and 4th round picks that could have been better used on defense especially.

And for the final card, sigh, Landon Collins. Great leader but now a Redskin which makes it even tougher to swallow.  This is an incredible card though.

There may be a lot of sad things for my Giants and in the hobby, but at least these pieces of cardboard remind me there were are happy ones to.

A big thanks to Bubba's Sports Cards for this great mail day. I treasured every card. Can't wait to update my NY Giants PC numbers with them now :) I also gotta hit you back with something at some point

A Cardpocalypse Hits My Mail Box

My mail box hasn't seen much shortage of mail days over the last few weeks and it has been great. I went so many months without anything that this streak I am on has me feeling good. But, all streaks come to an end and I think mine is heading that way.

Along this streak of mail days has been a few surprises. Expected mail days are fun and all, but surprise mail days, yeah, those are the best.

I did know I had something coming from @TMurphyCards but I had no idea what it was. He wanted to send me something to help start my New Year better than last years started. Well, it worked.

He threw in a pack of 1992 Skybox NFL Prime Time football which I have set aside in my rainy day packs. At some point I will be breaking these and revealing the contents on here. Stay tuned for that awesomeness.

Some Giants cards of course were found. I really like that LT Fleer All-pro design. One of the better early 90's designs out there.

It took me many years to realize that these Pro Set Power cards had parallels. This is the silver foil base card but the parallels take the pretty foil on the product name and turn it gold. Not quite the eye catch as the base. One of the very few times where the base looks better than the parallel.

Then came the whopper. Landon Collins Purple Prizm autograph! One of the top safeties in the league! I just wished he hadn't gotten hurt towards the end of the season. I wanted him to finish strong. Speaking of finishing, will he finish his career as a Giant? This offseason will tell as his rookie contract has ended.

Thanks Tyler for the great cheerful mail day!

The next surprise I had came just a few days later. Well, not sure if it was a surprise or a slip of memory @Cardpocalypse was sending me something, but either way, it was a nice find.

Tim sent along a filled bubbler full of goodies with most focusing on Big Blue.

I have been trying to think of another Topps Chrome rainbow I should attempt then this guy popped up. Could be an affordable one to chase. Hmmmm...

FLUFFY! I was able to add one of these off from my want list already, but I don't mind at all having another. This dude is funny! I own all of his DVD stand ups so far and some lines I have even memorized. Good stuff.

These are two great looking cards I didn't have and they come from Panini Father's Day packs. Snacks Harrison who the Giants sadly traded to the Lions halfway through the season and Landon Collins who they could lose as well. But I plead to them don't let Landon go!

OBJ! Flashback design to the iconic 1986 Topps that also had an iconic WR rookie card in the set....however, no comparison from me of Odell to Jerry. Jerry was in a different league.

Danny Kanell and Jason Sehorn Bowmans Best base I didn't have. I miss football card variety.

When I finish up my Rodney Hampton PC or get to the point where I can't add anymore, we will be inserting Kerry Collins to take his spot I believe. I have always had a soft spot for Kerry for some reason or another. I would accept cards from any of the teams he played on. Also still am searching for an autograph in a Giants uniform.

I don't have the figure and didn't have the card til now. Cross it off!

Michael almost saw his sack record get sacked by Aaron Donald. I am glad it didn't and even though Michael said he was cheering on Donald to do so, deep down, come on man. You don't want your record taken away.

I feel like many forget about Eli's records he owns both team and league along with his Super Bowl wins. This is why I still say he is a Hall Of Famer.

Old School Stadium Club is the best. Great photography, design and this Matt Bahr proves it.

One of the best TE's in Giants history. I never sadly got to watch him play on TV but have seen plenty of highlights and I am impressed.

I don't have much for old school Giants cards, so it's easy to have new additions from those eras. I need to get more vintage honestly.

Some Giants rookies that didn't quite pan out. I think Thomas is the best of the group here.

Judge! I need to put these with my others and see how far I am from this set.

This was my favorite photograph of the group. He has long reach. Of course he is a literal giant.

Anyone who reads this blog knows I love shiny things so Tim hit the spot with a couple Prizm parallels. I tried my best to capture their magic but it didn't quite fall into place. This is Wayne Gallman who I hope is back again next year. I can't see why they wouldn't bring him back.

Davis Webb. So pretty!

I didn't have this Gallman relic and I like the look of it! The fabric fold on the jersey is pretty unique as well.

Amani Toomer rookie card. I never figured out how he had so many jersey numbers. Some cards show him wearing 18, others 89 and then he ends up wearing the iconic 81.

More shiny goodness. This time comes in Donruss form of Paul Perkins.

And to finish out Tim's mail day is this OBJ. I wished Topps would bring back Topps Prime and it's amazing photography and make a baseball line. That would be another version of Stadium Club which is a collectors favorite.

Thanks again to Tim for the mail day! I know we both will have another one soon for each other with our big awesome ongoing trade. Still looking for stuff for ya after I write this.
