I Don't, But I Do

 

As 2021 moves on, I find myself actually starting to put more focus on my collection and what I like to trade for/acquire etc.

My one exception, is my great big boxes of goodies from reader Grady M.

Grady sends along a huge box filled with inserts, parallels and team hits. It's sometimes mind blowing what I will find in the boxes and the dig is just as fun as the cards I find.

He sent another round of his goodness around Christmas and I am just getting to do a series of posts on it now. There is no way I could ever cover all of them though. NEVER. Unless you want me to do a post every day of it and I figured you wouldn't want to see that continuously so I will just focus on some things that really caught my eye.

Today, I am starting off the shiny NASCAR that I found in the box.

Yes, this Deegan isn't shiny, but I like the design and it's my first card of her. I really want a rookie card of her as well.

Prizm continues to be one of my favorites from Panini no matter the sport. The parallels put Chrome refractors to shame.

There's just something about shiny and cars.

 

These Velocity inserts are amazing in color.

This wasn't even all of the NASCAR fun but for this round of Grady M posts, it will be all that I tackle.

REVIEW:2017 Donruss Racing Box 2 (BIG HIT)

Yesterday I left you with a good impression with Box 1 from my Donruss review break. Box 2 will leave you wanting to bust your own soon.

Here are a couple of my variations from box 2.

 

Some 84 Donruss design for my base set. Petty's hair is pretty epic.

Insert roll call. Some newer ones from the first break. I also pulled a /25 Artist Proof this time of William Byron.

 

Didn't pull one of these in box 1, the outside of the Donruss box claims these are rare but eBay begs to differ. I also couldn't find any further info on these either.I was hoping they were exchange cards of some sort if the person on the card gets the pole at a particular race. But, I assume these are just normal cards.

 

Now time for my hits. For some reason or another, my Tire Relic pull of Jeb Burton didn't upload but that was my first hit. The relic looked kinda cool to and I will update this post at some point with it.

My next pull is a Martin Truex Jr firesuit relic I believe. It's done in the 1984 throwback design.

 

And the big boom comes in the form of Danica Patrick. It also happens to be the Hologold parallel that is numbered to 25. She has a pretty decent signature.

 

Overall, Box 2 was even more solid than box 1. Kinda makes me wonder what a box 3 would had looked like. Maybe something I might attempt at a later date. If these boxes of Donruss racing didn't leave you wanting to bust some, you must really not like racing cards. Even this not big NASCAR collector was left wanting more.

Review: Press Pass FanFare Racing 2013

BASE CARDS: Press Pass has always been very impressive with their NASCAR products and there are not many Press Pass Racing product I don't like in terms of creativity and design. I like this design cause in NASCAR there are not too many action shots you can get with racers so most pictures are taken of the drivers themselves. So with most portraits you want to get an impressive frame for them. And Press Pass did just that here.

The 100-card base set features the best of Nascar Sprint Cup Series, Nascar NationWide Series, and the Nascar Camping World Truck Series. 

 

INSERTS:Press Pass sticks with their basics and to foilboard One of their favorite things to do with their inserts. The designs are not bad either. And you get about one insert, sometimes two, per pack. There is nothing wrong with sticking with something you are good at.

Really loved this pull! Sweet patch piece!

This prime piece with an R we thought was awesome. Not to mention with his name being Ryan, this was a bonus.

AUTOGRAPHS:  Some sweet prime swatches used in the auto memorabilia cards. The Truex is cool, but that Newman with the R in it was definitely an eye getter. All of the autographs we pulled from the box are also on-card. In each box you will land 4 autographs. Overall, there are four levels of FanFare Autographs to collect.

 

 

JERSEY/PATCH CARDS: The many pieces that Press Pass uses in their racing cards is an automatic win. They are very creative using Sheet Metal, Shirts, Hats, and many more. Most of these pieces you can see have been used and you will not question the authenticity. And most of the pieces are very unique and prime. Look at the Austin Dillion above..very cool.

The design is very balanced. Not too much player. Not too big of writing. And not too much blank space. It is split up into thirds perfectly making for a nice memorabilia design that other companies should take note of.

This years FanFare also has the return of Rookie Stripes featuring autographed Rookie Tape cards from Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and also has Magnificent Materials JUMBO cards featuring an oversized swatch of memorabilia.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: You don't have to be a HUGE NASCAR fan to appreciate Press Pass racing cards. Design is nice. Memorabilia is creative. And on card autographs. Once again, another big Press Pass racing winner that reaches the checker flag.
