A Mail's Long Journey

Back in about the middle of August, @JGfan24ever on Twitter was running one of his #PWEPayItFoward fun contests where he had a drop bucket of cards he was giving away and asked that you picked out one that you would want to win.

There were many options to choose from but I settled in on was this card...

 

Yes, it seems wrong being a huge Giants fan choosing an Eagles card (especially during Giants show-off card week), but I love Certified first of all. The patch looks really cool (even though Jordan needs a lot of help with his auto) and just the overall appeal of the card had me.

 

So like @JGfan24ever always does, he mailed it right out. What we didn't expect was it never arriving.....

 

Until yesterday.

 

We had already pretty much decided that the mail carrier had lost it. Which seemed the case til the half mangled envelope arrived in my mail box to my surprise yesterday. I checked over the envelope to see if there was an indication that it had been lost and I noticed one slight mistake with my address on the envelope which must have caused it to go back to who knows where and sit there for who knows how long and almost a month later they decided to finally pass it forward.

Despite the envelopes poor appearance, the card was mint. Out of all of this, the fact it arrived and arrived safely is what really matters.

So a big thanks is owed to @JGfan24ever for the mail day. Not only does he run many contests, he is a really great guy. No joking about that. Just check him out on Twitter and I know you will agree.

Patchtastic Strata Randle Mail Day!

Other than Chrome, one of my favorite Topps sets is Topps Strata. Well, I can't say I like the whole product like I do with Chrome, but I do like the Clear Cut autographed relics a lot.

And one player I didn't have one for yet in my PC was Rueben Randle. Mostly because I didn't want to pay the $10 most were charging for a single color jersey version. The patches were much more. Once again, Randle hasn't proven he is a star and in my opinion they were charging like he was or is going to be.

This is Randles third season and he only has shown a few bright spots so I felt those prices were a bit steep even though I really wanted to add this card to my Randle PC.

So just for fun, I bid on a very reasonable priced Strata Randle auto/patch card, yes i went for the patch, assuming it would go for high like the others..........

 

And to my surprise, I was the ONLY bid. So my patience paid off and this great looking Randle made its way to my PC for $7.99. Now that's a price I was more willing to pay especially for the patch version.

As a topic to go along with this post, have you guys waited for a card you really wanted because you didn't want to pay what they were asking? Or did you buy it no matter what? And if you waited, has it paid off for you yet?

Trade Mail Day @Seahawksfan605

When scrolling through Twitter you sometimes come across cards that you must have. Now, this happens quite often with me, but I usually don't ask about a trade due to my trading conditions. If you forgot what those are, I havr to know the other person, get references/background check on them with already trusted traders and make sure everything about them is safe without any red alarms. Yes, you would think I am renting to a person or giving them my kidney and not trading cards. Call it OCD or whatever my issue may be, I have a 100% trade success that way.

With my latest trade however, I didn't need to do that. Almost since I have been blogging, @Seahawksfan605 has been reading, responding, entering contests and interacting on social media with me. So I absolutely had no concerns trading with him.

My mail day reflects the great guy he is because he threw in some bonuses as well. I will be sharing those first!

The first three bonuses include, Strahan, I gotta see if this helps my set in 2015 Score Gridiron Heritage, Hankins is looking like he may have a big year and Nassib has shown some glimpses in the preseason.

The rest of the bonuses are a couple of Andre Williams Chrome and an Eli refractor. See, I told you he reads the blog. #ShinyGoodness

And finally I will reveal the card that sparked the trade. A new Andre Williams for the PC. I really need to update how many I have. I guess I can when I have a minute haha. This card despite his wrong jersey number is plain beautiful all around. The patch is nice, the numbering is to 50 and the overall look catches your attention. One of my new Williams favorites!

Review: Press Pass FanFare Racing 2013

BASE CARDS: Press Pass has always been very impressive with their NASCAR products and there are not many Press Pass Racing product I don't like in terms of creativity and design. I like this design cause in NASCAR there are not too many action shots you can get with racers so most pictures are taken of the drivers themselves. So with most portraits you want to get an impressive frame for them. And Press Pass did just that here.

The 100-card base set features the best of Nascar Sprint Cup Series, Nascar NationWide Series, and the Nascar Camping World Truck Series. 

 

INSERTS:Press Pass sticks with their basics and to foilboard One of their favorite things to do with their inserts. The designs are not bad either. And you get about one insert, sometimes two, per pack. There is nothing wrong with sticking with something you are good at.

Really loved this pull! Sweet patch piece!

This prime piece with an R we thought was awesome. Not to mention with his name being Ryan, this was a bonus.

AUTOGRAPHS:  Some sweet prime swatches used in the auto memorabilia cards. The Truex is cool, but that Newman with the R in it was definitely an eye getter. All of the autographs we pulled from the box are also on-card. In each box you will land 4 autographs. Overall, there are four levels of FanFare Autographs to collect.

 

 

JERSEY/PATCH CARDS: The many pieces that Press Pass uses in their racing cards is an automatic win. They are very creative using Sheet Metal, Shirts, Hats, and many more. Most of these pieces you can see have been used and you will not question the authenticity. And most of the pieces are very unique and prime. Look at the Austin Dillion above..very cool.

The design is very balanced. Not too much player. Not too big of writing. And not too much blank space. It is split up into thirds perfectly making for a nice memorabilia design that other companies should take note of.

This years FanFare also has the return of Rookie Stripes featuring autographed Rookie Tape cards from Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and also has Magnificent Materials JUMBO cards featuring an oversized swatch of memorabilia.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: You don't have to be a HUGE NASCAR fan to appreciate Press Pass racing cards. Design is nice. Memorabilia is creative. And on card autographs. Once again, another big Press Pass racing winner that reaches the checker flag.
