Blog Bat-Around: 5 Best Pack Pulled Hits (Here's Mine)

Matt, great name by the way, over at Diamond Jesters has sent forth a new Blog Bat-Around challenge.

He posted his best 5 pack pulled cards and wanted other bloggers to do the same.

Having been sponsored by sport card companies, I have opened a lot of products over my time with some nice hits in-between. However, for this challenge, I didn't want to count any of the pulls from the card company packs. Instead, I wanted to share hits from my own personal pack openings...back when I could afford to open them.

Most of the time, my own pack openings were complete duds. But, then there were some nice ones.

Let's take a look,

5. Is this /25 Totally Certified Gold Rookie Autograph of Luke Kuechly who was one heck of a linebacker. He will be one of the names forever known in Panthers history.

4. How could a sweet MJ parallel be number 4? Well, I would call it 1D. It was really hard to pick a top one in this top group.

3.I pulled this Deion/Cam dual auto from Panini Black for Christmas one year. Still the best Christmas pack pull I have ever had.

2. I usually don't like opening up retail Allen&Ginter. It's so boring. But, I still do it just to have some. I got lucky in 2020 with this one. One of my all-time favorite Yankee players.

1.Stallone auto. This is probably my best all-time pack pull including company sent products. It's really hard to top Rocky.

Well, that's my Top 5. There are a couple other pulls I could have put at number 5 but felt Luke had earned his spot. The other top cards were hard to beat.

I still have all of these cards except the Luke. I traded that away for something that fit my PC better. The others won't ever leave my hands.

As Matt put at the end of his post and I will add it to mine, let's see what you guys have pulled. I can't wait to read and see them.

Living The Americana Dream Part 4:Box 3

In my latest trade with the great Shane from Project Pedro Blog, I was able to trade for some boxes from him from the Black Friday sale on Dacardworld.

I could have chosen baseball, football, basketball, hockey or any other sport. But what did I end up with? Well, three boxes of 2015 Panini Americana.

My love of non sport cards continues to grow and my love of this product has as well. The price of a box being around $25 and under along with four hits is so enticing you just can't ignore it. The checklist of autographs and wardrobe relics you could hit has a good mix of superstars and people you may not know as well but it was enough to entice me to want more.

Today is the finale of me Living The Americana Dream. I really hope to live this dream again and would accept trades/gifts of any of these cards or hits. Especially if they are just collecting dust at your house.

I start this post off with another Freeze Frame. This time it's Katrina Bowden who is best known for her role as Carrie on 30 Rock.

Ginger Rogers!! What can you say about this starlet you starred alongside Fred Astaire in so many films. She is a well known legend, that's for sure!

Another Ali Larter hit, this time a relic to partner up with my autograph. This is one crazy relic too. Look at the multi-colors on these swatches. Another one of my favorite things about collecting non sport.

Rev Run  is one of the founding members of the hip hop group Run–D.M.C. Very cool autograph addition here. Interesting he signed it as Rev Run and not his real name.

And finally, Corbin Bernsen. He has been in a lot of things such as the movie Major league, LA Law and one of my favorite shows, Psych. This is my second autograph of his since I own the one from Psych. But, I don't mind having another.

Well, those were some fun breaks and it was fun to show them off on here. I really want more!! A big thanks goes out to Shane for the boxes and the good mojo he sent along with them.

There are more boxes from our trade to show coming up. Those are from the late 90's and football. But, they will not disappoint.

Let me hear your favorite hit in the three box break in comments below!

Living The Americana Dream Part 3: Box 2

Today and Tomorrow I will break down the hits for the final two boxes I opened. Now we are onto box number 2.

Once again we kick it off again with another Freeze Frame. This one is of Hulk Hogans daughter, Brooke,

This box actually had a bonus parallel I hadn't ever seen in five boxes I broke, a green parallel. These are numbered to 25 and this one is of Audrina Patridge who was best known for her role on The Hills.

My first autograph find was of Alexis Knapp. She is best known for her roles in the trio of Pitch Perfect movies. Which by the way are pretty funny. I was thinking a corny girly singy type movie, not at all. Well worth the watch.

My next pull was this Laura Prepon relic. I best know her from her red head days on That 70's Show. She is now on the hit show Orange Is The New Black.

My next find was Ali Larter autograph.  She was in Varsity Blues, if you lived in the 90's you definitely have seen that film, and played on many sitcoms of the 90's.

And finally, you don't have eyes like her. She has Bette Davis eyes. How cool is it to pull a legendary relic like this?

Once again, another solid box break for the price.  The autographs I found in this box were well signed as well. Sharp, readable autographs.

Box three will be posted tomorrow so come back for one more!

Living The Americana Dream Part 2:Box 1

Over the next few days I will break down the hits of each box I opened and today we kick it off with box #1.

I absolutely dig these Freeze Frames and consider them hits more than I do inserts. The inserts were very boring and plain but these look fantastic with a "slide" inserted in them. I am chasing this set as well. My childhood was revisited some with Winnie find

My first autograph is Tony Sirico. He is best known for his role on the Sopranos. I think he has a really nice signature. Maybe he should give others some lessons.

Next autograph is DJ Kool. Let me clear my throat, see what I did there, before showing his card off. He was a late 80's rap singer. The DJ is really cool looking on his signature.

Next autograph is of Vince Neil. I think he could have used some work on his signature that for sure. He was the lead singer for Motley Crue.

My last hit was these nice swatches from Eva Marie. The card is numbered 7/10. She is best known for being a professional wrestler but has had other professions as well.

For $22 you really can't go wrong with a break like this. Honestly, it's foolish that this product is still sitting on the shelves so cheap.

Box 2 will be posted tomorrow!

Nuttin But The Hits:2015 Panini Americana Part 2

Last Black Friday my friend over at Project Pedro Blog helped pick me up a box of 2015 Panini Americana that was a bargain from Da Card World for $30. I fell in love with the product so much that I wanted more, more, more.Especially after starting my non sport PC.

A couple of months ago, my wife surprised me with a box!

Before the hits, let's break it down!

Each box of Americana has 4 Memorabilia or Autograph cards per box with at least of them being 2 autos per box. You can find names such as Bradley Cooper, Al Pacino, Paula Abdul, Sylvester Stallone, Brooke and Hulk Hogan, Mickey Rourke, Kevin Hart, Jordana Brewster, Martin Short, Alexa Vega, Nick Cannon, Laura Prepon, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Vanilla Ice among many more. So I know there was plenty to find.

Up first my insert parallel pulls. These look super cool. Got some big names as well. I like me some Shannon Elizabeth!

Inserts, double Biz Markie

I am gonna suck you blood! Really cool antique relic from Bela Lugosi who played the original Dracula.

Not overly familiar with these two, but that's okay. Still PC material.

Ice Ice baby! My big auto pull of the box. Pretty stinkin cool especially for this 90's collector.

And my last pull, a really cool Freeze Frame insert.

I was left a big fan once again and I plan on picking up more boxes if I can.   I would also be interested in any of the hits singles for trading down the road.

I am also building the base set and might be working on the insert ones too depending on how much I can gather of the product.

Nuttin But The Hits:2015 Panini Americana HUGE PULL

I have been waiting to post this break.

Last Black Friday my friend over at Project Pedro Blog helped pick me up a box of 2015 Panini Americana that was a bargain from Da Card World for $30. I was super stoked as I had always wanted to bust a box myself after picking up and trading for some singles.
Each of the boxes have 4 Memorabilia or Autograph cards per box with at least of them being 2 autos per box.

My first pull, a Slade Smiley relic. Multi color. I wasn't sure who he was. But it's a cool relic none-the-less

Then came a Craig Dollase autograph

And my next find is pretty solid because she's got Bette Davis eyes....

Triple Memorabilia card of the great Bette Davis. Pretty sick! Even a piece of thread!

Then to finish it up....play the Rocky theme song...
BOOM! The man himself and one of the toughest pulls in the product!!

For $30 I think I did pretty well. It also left me wanting more. I hope to bust another box down the road. Prices have dipped even more on boxes and when or if I get more hobby dollars and I wanna grab another one or two.

A big thanks also goes out to Project Pedro Blog on the hookup!
