Saquon Barkley PC Thus Far

(Bloggers note:I have added a few more cards since I typed up this post. Those will be added to an updated version of this post)

Saquon Barkley was the most exciting all around player in the 2018 NFL Draft.

This year my team picked 2nd in the draft and all signs lead to them drafting a successor to Eli Manning. I was okay with that except the fact they had a 3rd round draft QB in Davis Webb who didn't have his shot yet last year when he should have. Felt like a waste to me.

As I sat in the hospital room with my wife (who was having pain and had to be taken) watching the draft unfold, I was shocked to see the Browns-who could use talent like Barkley's-shock the world with their selection of Baker Mayfield at pick one.

Could the Giants still draft a QB? I asked myself. Or could they take a guy at a position that has struggled every year since the departure of Ahmad Bradshaw.

Then came the commissioner to the podium....

With the 2nd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft the NY Giants select....Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State.

Wait..WHAT?!

The Giants made me cheer on the inside-I was at a hospital worried about my wife- and made the crowd erupt at the draft with their pick. After we left the hospital and all was well, I finally got to celebrate full form and go searching for Barkley cards. The only problem...they weren't cheap.

So I took to trading as my avenue to getting some cards.

My first acquisitions of Barkley came at the hands of my father who had extras and from @JGfan24ever who had a knack for pulling him. I have a nice Elite rainbow started here.

Here was my very first card of him in which I got in a trade with my father.

Well I mean this is actually the first card but not sure I actually consider it a card

I then began to make other trades to try and pick more up. I added these two from Dub Mentality

And this one from @DJSeneseiNJ.

I even began to seek out doubles to help my collection look more impressive. This one from Tyler over at Rekindling The Cardboard Flame blog was nice enough to pass this one along to me.

And some generosity from @CrattyPatty25 helped me finally land the Classics rookie card.

This chrome version of the Classics card I found in a box for my PC.

Then came my bigger luck in snatching two autographs. One was this signed SI that I somehow won from @NFLAuctions. I am still in shock.

And then came the box pull of this autograph. These two autographs may be the only ones I ever see.

I appreciate all of the help along the way to build up my Barkley PC. Hopefully I can make some more trades and add even more Barkley cards to this post down the road. Now the other thing I am hopeful for is that this guy pans out like I expect him to. If not, it's not like I have a lot invested here other than trades.

NFL Regular season is just around the corner and I can't wait! #GiantsPride

The Centerpiece Of My Saquon Barkley Collection

We are still less than a month from the NFL Draft where the Giants took highly touted draftee RB Saquon Barkley with the number two pick. It's by far the most excited I have been about a Giants draft pick in a long time. Probably ever since Odell Beckham Jr but may be even bigger.

Since then, I have taken a ride on the Barkley train trying desperately to add his cards to my PC. So far I have three including a SI For Kids card. Not very much and a bit disappointing.

I am a bit surprised more haven't been thrown my way especially after updating my Trade Bait tab and I have been promoting it. Oh well, will add what I can when I can I guess.

Recently, @NFLAuction held a contest on all of it's social media sites for a signed Barkley SI. When I saw that contest, I was all over it on two of the three social media sites. I still haven't ever attempted Instagram. Don't think I ever will.

Late last week, I was messaged on Facebook from NFL Auction that I had won the Barkley. Yes, I had won a signed Barkley SI. Wow. Blown away.

A few days later the item showed up by Fed Ex along with a certificate of authenticity.

Still blown away especially having it in hand. By far the best Barkley item I have right now.

I still want to add an autograph card badly, but for now, I will stare at this. I will need to find a safe place to store it however and make sure the autograph is protected and won't fade.

By the way, check out @nflauction for their auctions on Facebook,  Twitter and Instagram. All sales from their auctions go to a good cause of the players and they have lots of great items available.

Now I need to ask, how would you guys display such a cool item? Let me know in comments!

Oh, before I close, Happy Mother's Day to all of those moms out there!

Hottest Golf Cards Right Now

With the golf card market not seeing much in terms of releases recently, it seems the only place to grab a rookie card of someone is from a magazine. That magazine most have heard of but don't think about purchasing not unless for their kids. But, then you find crazy collectors like me that collect any piece of cardboard and keep a subscription.

Looking at the market right now, these two are some of the hottest golf cards out there. Especially every week winner Jordan Spieth. I don't expect these to cool down too soon until his rookie is released in a product.

I keep all of my SI for kids cards in full sheets.
I know not many use Beckett anymore, but this card currently has a BV of $40. That's a lot for a magazine card. Of course not as much as Tiger Woods still but it could slowly increase if he continues his pace.
Here is another great one to have right now along with Rory McIlroy that I don't have pictured but do have.

What are your thoughts on collecting SI For Kids cards? Do you collect them? Do you think there is a market for them? Especially for players that don't have rookie cards per say.

My U.S. Women's World Cup Cards

I can't come out and say I am a huge soccer fan or that I even follow the sport, cause that would be a lie.But I do have two interests in the sport. One, I have U.S. pride and when our country goes out and plays their butts off, I like to pay attention. Two, I like to collect their cards.

And that is what leads to today's post. I would not only like to congratulate the World Cup Champions that took down Japan 5-2, but to show off my Women's U.S. soccer cards I own or at least  the onesI could find in time for this post lol.

So here we go!

Most of my collection consists of Sports Illustrated For Kids cards that are still on uncut sheets. Some of them are the big stars.

Press is a younger player who had some playing time against China

Alex Morgan has a bright career ahead of her.

And Abby Wambach finally goes out as a champion as she is retiring. I think it's great when athletes retire and end their careers as a champion.

Another Wambach in her younger years when she played for Washington Freedom.

I pulled this a couple years ago in a Panini Father's Day pack and

Also this. Rampone as well will be retiring and ending her career as a champion.

And finally my favorite card of them all, a 2011 Goodwin Champions on-card autograph of Hope Solo.
I thought I had a few more Upper Deck cards somewhere but couldn't locate them in time for this post. I also thought I had a Carli Lloyd Sports Illustrated For Kids card too. At least I was able to locate some to show off especially the Solo.

So, congrats again to the U.S. Women's team for their tremendous effort and victory. I hope for a repeat in the next World Cup.

My First Yasiel Puig "Rookie" Card

With recent non success in pulling a Yasiel Puig rookie card, by far this years hottest rookie sensation, I was hoping for another way to possess at least a card of his. Buying wasn't an option. Prices for his cards are through the roof.  And they could only get hotter if he helps carry the Dodgers to a World Series victory.  Not to mention, quite frankly, though he is talented, I don't want to invest too much into a guy that could bomb next year. So I find buying a pack or two now and then to try and pull him that way is the best.

However, a few days ago my latest issue of Sports Illustrated For Kids arrived and BOOM look who's card was found inside....

Now most probably wouldn't recognize this as a rookie or probably even as a card. But if you check out prices on these they are already going for over $10 as collectors try to add this guy to their collections anyway possible. So for now, it's my only Puig "Rookie" Card.

Ever since the Tiger Woods 1996 Sports Illustrated "Rookie" Card was discovered I believe it helped put these cards on the market and possibly making them not only Rookie Cards, but legitimate cards.

Let me know your thoughts on what you would call these "cards". Do you collect them?

My first Geno Smith Rookie Card

 photo geno_zps43c663e9.jpg

Yep thats right..thats what I am calling it. Though its only a Sports Illustrated for kids card, some of these bad boys are HOT! Right now this card is going for $5 but I think it will go up in value before its done. The Andrew Luck rookie version of this last year was going on eBay for over $20 at this time and right now some are still selling for that. I have yet to get my hands onto any 2013 football that has Smith in it so having this card is my only start to what will be a another great rookie chase of 2013.

What are your thoughts on Sport Illustrated for Kids Cards? Do you consider them real cards?

Fan Box Break: 2 Boxes of Sports Illustrated Decade of Super Models

Another Fan Box Break by Jammin JDcards! Now, you may have a hard time focusing on anything but the cards with this break but do the best you can to at least skim through the reading parts. Okay...are you reading this yet? Focus...oh..don't worry...who can focus?

What Jammin JDcards says about this unique break:

"2012 Sports Illustrated Decade of Supermodels 2 boxes – I had no idea what to expect from this product but it turned out to be a nice product. Each box included a total of 96 cards with 3 material cards, and 12 inserts. The full set includes 3 different 10 card insert sets – Decades Best, Natural Colors and Celebrities, 30 material cards and printing plates. The base set consists of 70 cards and you just about get the whole set of base in each box. I was very surprised at the quality of the cards; they consist of a very high gloss look. The material cards are average and seem like a basic material. However the Heidi Klum material we pulled actually looks like the Swimsuit in the photo which is pretty awesome. There really is not much of a design to the cards but I give it a 7/10 for design, 9/10 for quality and 8.5/10 for value – an unexpected good product."
