Even though Evan Engram is no longer apart of the NY Giants, once a Giant, always a Giant.

I still collect cards of former Giants players as long as they are wearing blue on the card.

I think that @MashingDingers knew this as he grabbed these two cards from a stack sale and had them sent my way! The Optic is a silver Rated Rookie and the Luminance is a blue parallel /99.

NYG PC Spotlight:Daniel Jones PC

With the 6th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft...the NY Giants select....Daniel Jones, Duke University. Giants fans threw up after hearing that and I wasn't sure where I stood. I don't know a lot about the players before the draft besides what I hear and what I see. That's the only judgement I got. I don't watch College football as it bores me.

So for me, I was on the fence, but I was in full support of Daniel and wished him only the best. I mean who wants to root against the future of your favorite team? You can't be a real fan then.

Daniel surprised many when he took over for Eli Manning in Week 3 and pulled the Giants back from a 18 point comeback against Tampa Bay in that game and ran in for the game clinching TD on 4th down. Something Eli Manning never did. He followed that up with another win a week later against Washington. After that, some rookie struggles came and the Giants continued to lose but mainly because of the defense, not Jones. Jones got hurt against Green Bay and missed a couple of games as well. But, one game was a great one when Eli Manning got to take over and get his well deserved standing ovation good bye win at home vs Miami.

Jones broke many NY Giants rookie records and had multiple 3 TD+ games including 5 against the Redskins in the game before the season finale. Jones finished with 3,027 yards 24 TD's and only 12 ints. For a rookie, that's really good. However, whats missing is the glaring amount of fumbles he lost this season. He had 18 fumbles and lost 11 of those for turnovers. Now, not all of that was his fault. A good LT would have helped and a coach that could have taught him how to tuck and run would have been great as well. I think he will improve upon that in 2020 season as long as the Giants fix the line and get a great coach.

I was impressed on how well I landed Daniel Jones in trades in 2019 and even some I purchased for $15 early on. I barely have any Saquon hits and autographs, but it seems Jones just fell to me. Which is fine to me! Looking back at my Eli rookie year PC, it is awful. At least if Jones becomes who I think he will be, I won't need to worry about adding any more down the road.

I have accumulated 13 Daniel Jones autographs overall and feel like I should be done trying to add him, but also feel I am not done. All I can hope is that he turns out to be the next Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson and not the next Jamarcus or Ryan Leaf.

Once again, I am not prospecting Jones, he is my teams QB. Which makes the investing scenario a little different than most. I am investing that he is the teams next true QB and will lead them to the playoffs and beyond down the road. That's my real investment.

Saquon Barkley PC Thus Far

Saquon Barkley was the most exciting all around player in the 2018 NFL Draft.

This year my team picked 2nd in the draft and all signs lead to them drafting a successor to Eli Manning. I was okay with that except the fact they had a 3rd round draft QB in Davis Webb who didn't have his shot yet last year when he should have. Felt like a waste to me.

As I sat in the hospital room with my wife (who was having pain and had to be taken) watching the draft unfold, I was shocked to see the Browns-who could use talent like Barkley's-shock the world with their selection of Baker Mayfield at pick one.

Could the Giants still draft a QB? I asked myself. Or could they take a guy at a position that has struggled every year since the departure of Ahmad Bradshaw.

Then came the commissioner to the podium....

With the 2nd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft the NY Giants select....Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State.

Wait..WHAT?!

The Giants made me cheer on the inside-I was at a hospital worried about my wife- and made the crowd erupt at the draft with their pick. After we left the hospital and all was well, I finally got to celebrate full form and go searching for Barkley cards. The only problem...they weren't cheap.

So I took to trading as my avenue to getting some cards.

My first acquisitions of Barkley came at the hands of my father who had extras and from @JGfan24ever who had a knack for pulling him. I have a nice Elite rainbow started here.

Here was my very first card of him in which I got in a trade with my father.

  

Well I mean this is actually the first card but not sure I actually consider it a card

I then began to make other trades to try and pick more up. I added these two from Dub Mentality

And this one from @DJSeneseiNJ.

 

I even began to seek out doubles to help my collection look more impressive. This one from Tyler over at Rekindling The Cardboard Flame blog was nice enough to pass this one along to me.

And some generosity from @CrattyPatty25 helped me finally land the Classics rookie card.

Then came my bigger luck in snatching two autographs. One was this signed SI that I somehow won from @NFLAuctions. I am still in shock.

 

And then came the box pull of this autograph. These two autographs may be the only ones I ever see.

 

I appreciate all of the help along the way to build up my Barkley PC. Hopefully I can make some more trades and add even more Barkley cards to this post down the road. Now the other thing I am hopeful for is that this guy pans out like I expect him to. If not, it's not like I have a lot invested here other than trades.  

NFL Regular season is just around the corner and I can't wait! #GiantsPride
