Pieces Of My Future #11:Cards From NJ

I am a bit behind on mail days since I changed the format on here. I am trying to think of other ways to stay more caught up on those as I go along and maybe pulling them for tweets again instead. I hate making people wait to get a thank you as some are weeks and maybe a month away. As of now, I have a rough handful ready to go on here so when those run out I will decide what to do going forward.

@DJSeneseiNJ and myself used to pull off mega trades, but recently we have done a much more fun version with our mystery trades. Sometimes the pressure of doing mega trades can get to you and drag things out if both sides don't feel they are getting an even return. I think these smaller type mystery trades are a whole lot more fun as you never know what you are getting in return and the worry of value isn't there. If you feel you sent less than you should of when you open your end, send more the next time. There's no stress, no concern and just fun when doing these.

I recently got my latest mystery mail day from @DJSeneseiNJ and it was so much fun as the past two.

Anthony Banda autograph. Appears to be TTM?

Eli Apple autograph. He looked terrible with the Giants but played decent with the Saints.

A new Gallman autograph. I am starting a nice stack of autographs of his now.

My first Tyler Wade relic card.

Here's hoping Tomlinson gets something going for that Giants pass rush, they are gonna need it!

Saquon Barkley PC Thus Far

(Bloggers note:I have added a few more cards since I typed up this post. Those will be added to an updated version of this post)

Saquon Barkley was the most exciting all around player in the 2018 NFL Draft.

This year my team picked 2nd in the draft and all signs lead to them drafting a successor to Eli Manning. I was okay with that except the fact they had a 3rd round draft QB in Davis Webb who didn't have his shot yet last year when he should have. Felt like a waste to me.

As I sat in the hospital room with my wife (who was having pain and had to be taken) watching the draft unfold, I was shocked to see the Browns-who could use talent like Barkley's-shock the world with their selection of Baker Mayfield at pick one.

Could the Giants still draft a QB? I asked myself. Or could they take a guy at a position that has struggled every year since the departure of Ahmad Bradshaw.

Then came the commissioner to the podium....

With the 2nd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft the NY Giants select....Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State.

Wait..WHAT?!

The Giants made me cheer on the inside-I was at a hospital worried about my wife- and made the crowd erupt at the draft with their pick. After we left the hospital and all was well, I finally got to celebrate full form and go searching for Barkley cards. The only problem...they weren't cheap.

So I took to trading as my avenue to getting some cards.

My first acquisitions of Barkley came at the hands of my father who had extras and from @JGfan24ever who had a knack for pulling him. I have a nice Elite rainbow started here.

Here was my very first card of him in which I got in a trade with my father.

  

Well I mean this is actually the first card but not sure I actually consider it a card

I then began to make other trades to try and pick more up. I added these two from Dub Mentality

And this one from @DJSeneseiNJ.

 

I even began to seek out doubles to help my collection look more impressive. This one from Tyler over at Rekindling The Cardboard Flame blog was nice enough to pass this one along to me.

And some generosity from @CrattyPatty25 helped me finally land the Classics rookie card.

This chrome version of the Classics card I found in a box for my PC.

Then came my bigger luck in snatching two autographs. One was this signed SI that I somehow won from @NFLAuctions. I am still in shock.

 

And then came the box pull of this autograph. These two autographs may be the only ones I ever see.

 

I appreciate all of the help along the way to build up my Barkley PC. Hopefully I can make some more trades and add even more Barkley cards to this post down the road. Now the other thing I am hopeful for is that this guy pans out like I expect him to. If not, it's not like I have a lot invested here other than trades.

Merry Christmas 2017!!

I don't normally post cards on Christmas day as it's been tradition here on Sport Card Collectors just to say Merry Christmas. However, this year I have been so far behind on posts that I needed to catch up. Hence, today's Christmas post with cards in it. It will also more than likely be the only cards I see on Christmas.

Today's cards are from a secret Christmas gift exchange that @DJSeneseiNJ and I did. We set a certain limit and went to town. It was a fun way to do things and the only secret Santa thing I participated in. To be honest, I didn't participate in others in fear shipping outside the U.S. and I just can't afford to pay extra right now.

Anyways, @DJSeneseiNJ hit me in a few PC's.

"Snacks" rookies and a pink parallel. I still find it a bit odd to call these rookies cause he has been in the league for awhile, but at least unlike baseball, this is is first card on cardboard so it makes sense.

EPIC 1/1 sketch card from the Ghostbusters product by Cryptozoic. Like I said, I want it all from the product.

 

And finally, my first autograph addition to my Ghostbusters collection in some time. I really want to put this set together but simply don't have the funds to do so. I gotta rely on collectors willing to trade them to me or donate ;)

As for the rest of you, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas or a Happy Holiday depending on what it is in your house. I grew up saying Merry Christmas and still do. I hope you enjoy time with the ones you love, get everything you want for Christmas and remember the real reason behind it. Stay safe and have fun!

Giant Overload!

For the first time since myself and @DJSeneseiNJ have traded, we actually did a very quick one. Our usual trades are long drawn out ones that take a bit of tweaking on both ends til we were both happy. This time it was a simple let's trade and mail.

I was very impressed by the cards I got in return as @DJSeneseiNJ really sent a bunch of extras this time.

Some 90's Giants here.

Some newer Giants here. I really like the Huddle Up card. Neat perspective.

Some Hampton. Sadly I have them but it's always nice to see Rodney in the mail.

I really like the Mike Berkus. Never met him and wished I had, but to have one of the industries greats card is pretty cool.

A couple more new Giants. The Simms is very shiny.

A Gypsy Oak card. He does amazing work. This is really cool.

Another Star Wars medallion for my non sports PC.

Speaking of non sports PC, my second UD comic heroes auto. The silver ink really stands out here.

Up next, a really nice looking Paul Perkins auto rookie card. I really wished he had panned out but this season has been a total disappointment. Not sure if it's him and the oline, just him or just the oline.

One guy that wasn't a disappointment in his time playing was David Wilson I don't know what number autograph this marks of him that I have, but I think he is quite the inspiration coming back from his terrible neck injury to do running as a career, so adding his autographs is never a bad thing.

And to finish up the mail day, some NYY coins I didn't have.
