Collins Haul

Today as I am watching the snow fall, I am dreaming of football season again. Though I would like to enjoy some summer weather first.

So instead, I will find myself living through football cards by taking a look at my latest Kerry Collins additions from Burbank Sportcards Beckett Marketplace.

When I look at knocking down cards on my player want lists, I always tackle 90's inserts first. The numbered, shinier the better.

This card is simple but bold and attractive.

Rookie Stallions. If you look closely, you will see stallions in the foil etching.

Summit only last two years, but it produced some great parallels and a solid looking base set.

Turf Team was a set I had considered chasing, but think I will just grab a few here and there.

The Rookie Rising Inserts though, I am definitely chasing. Panini brought these back for this year's Zenith and made them case hits.

Burbank didn't have a picture of this card, so I had no idea what to expect, but it's even better than I thought. Pacific knew how to make a die cut card.

Spx in the 90's, nothing better than that except EX2000. One card packs of the Spx made it tough to chase your favorite players and especially the gold parallels.

90's parallels will always rule over any that are put out today. The Stadium Club matrix is one of my favorites. I wished I could have captured it better.

The rivalries card is actually a dual card, on the opposite side is Ken Norton Jr.

I can't find any information on these parallels, but they each feature a colored star on the front of them. For some reason they are called bronze and gold redemption respectively. Maybe they were mail in sets.

And the final part of this mail day.

Let's Talk About Sets Volume 44

Let's talk about sets baby...talk about them with me...lets talk about all of my needs...lets talk about sets....

Sets talk has arrived and has a new twist you can say. I will be using my sets talk platform for Set Help. Ever since I started posting my set needs instead of just letting them sit on the blog, I have had some minor help and at this point, any minor help is huge.

Today I grabbed three sets from 1996 that I need help with.

First up, die cut jersey from 1996 Pinnacle. I am a big die cut fan and think this card looks amazing,

The second set is a follow up set to the 1995 Summit Ground Zero which is the 1996 edition. As most of my readers know, I am deep in chasing the 1995 edition which may be my all time favorite parallel-sorry refractors- and have really gotten it way under 100 left to go for that set. Only made sense that I chased the next best thing the following year that I have just gotten off the ground in chasing,

The final set we are looking at today is 1996 Collectors Choice MVP silver. I am so close to having this one I can feel like an MVP soon.

My First Puchase On COMC

I know, I know.

While the rest of you buy and sell on COMC, I have yet to experience anything about the site. Mostly because I don't have the funds and I don't sell cards to get any. It's a lose all situation.

But, about a month ago, I entered a contest on the COMC Facebook page for a $20 gift card and won!Whoa funds! I could finally see what the talk was all about.

So I went to the COMC website and made myself an account for them to deposit the $20 into. Once the money was there. It was shopping time.

There was many cards to choose from but I knew I would tackle the Rodney Hamptons first and see how many I could get. From the looks of it, three. But, I needed to figure out how to add them into a cart or how to purchase them using the credit that had been deposited.

After a couple time walk through with @Jake1725, I was finally able to get things figured out and found the site much easier to use afterwards. I was not only able to snag the three Rodney Hamptons, which I will show off at some point in his own segment, but I was able to help some set needs as well. Prices are SOOOOOO MUCH more affordable on the website than on eBay through COMC where I have wasted funds in the past on.

Here were my other pickups,

Tyrone Wheatley Summit Ground Zero. How did I not already have this one?!

Bam Morris Offensive Weapons 1995 Ground Zero

Darnay Scott Ground Zero

Curtis Conway Ground Zero

I could have kept going with the Ground Zero but decided to look at other sets needs. I realized I was only three away from my 1995 Summit Rookie Summit set and would you look at that, they had them and had them where I could use the rest of the funds except 30 cents to grab them with.

Well, there you  have it minus some Rodney Hamptons coming up in future posts.

I found most of the prices reasonable, I liked the Make Offer option on the site which I did put to use for the Rodney's, and combined shipping no matter how much you buy is always a winner.

Hopefully down the road I will be able to buy more from there when I get more funds to do so with.
