Coffee Break:2020-2021 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Blaster Box

*coffee has awoken the beast, well, me. It's early but a few sips will get the blood flowing and the typing hands working. I will also need my hands to open up a hockey card product. I am not a huge fan of collecting hockey, but I am a huge fan of Upper Deck and have always been. Just ask Chris Carlin who knows this as well*

2020-2021 Upper Deck Series 2 Blaster Box
6 Packs, 8 Cards Per Pack
1 Jumbo Young Guns Per Blaster
$19.99 Per Blaster

Summary: Upper Deck Series 2 picks up where Series 1 ended. It includes a new batch of base cards which are cards 251-450, but most importantly Young Guns which is what the big draw is for Upper Deck's flagship product of hockey. Series 2 will include 50 cards,451-500, that fall 1:4 packs and includes the skaters not in Series 1.

You can find the following parallels as well for the base cards and Young Guns that includes, French, Clear Cut, Exclusives, and High Gloss.

The product also includes an Update Set for O-Pee-Chee that is rookie heavy alongside other inserts and Sp's. The Dazzlers insert continues to be my favorite and dazzling to say the least.

The autographs and relics are both rookie and veteran laden.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's break and post*

I didn't land one of the top Young Guns but being a rookie card collector I was pretty happy with just one. The O-Pee-Chee Lafreniere was a solid find for an update rookie for O-Pee-Chee being the top rookie going into the season collectors were hunting for. Also being a Rangers fan of the past helps with that one as well.

Coffee With Alan Thicke

*takes a sip, sits down to reminisce about today's Coffee "guest" then gets ready to type about it*

Today's guest is Alan Thicke who sadly passed away in 2016.

If you grew up in the late 80's and early 90's, most likely you grew up with the Seaver family.

Growing Pains focused on Jason (Thicke) and Mary Seaver and their raising of their kids and the challenges that parents can face such as drugs, suicide, peer pressure, and alcohol to name a few. But, in the end, if they were together they could face any problems that arose together.

*takes a sip, remembers the theme song to Growing Pains and starts to hum it*

As a lot of my long time readers know, I have been collecting autographs that relate to anything to my childhood and since I was a big fan of Growing Pains I have already added Jeremy Miller who played Ben Seaver and figured it was time to add another. That's when I found out that Thicke had autograph in a Leaf Pop Century product. I expected it to be outrageously expensive being a famous actor who had passed but I found a pretty decent deal under $20 for one and snagged it.

Alan had a solid signature.

Back of the card is pretty bland. I really wished Leaf would include a picture from their career or anything better than this.

Not only was Alan in Growing Pains, but he also starred in a variety of movies and guest appearances on TV shows. I think the last thing I watched him in was This Is Us. He is father to singer Robin Thicke who is best known for his song Blurred Lines.

*takes a sip before finishing up today's post*

As I was composing today's post, I was thinking as I went along, can you imagine what it would have been like to tackle some of today's issues on the show? I won't dive into the topics as I don't want to start politics in a place only about cards and coffee but I would imagine some of those topics would be pretty hard to handle. Parenting in this day and age cannot be easy or even being a kid for that matter. I am just glad I grew up when I did and that's all I need to say.

Coffee Break:2021 Leaf Draft Football Blaster Box

*takes a sip, gets ready to rip a blaster box on today's Coffee Break. Wondering if breakfast will come sooner rather than later today...*

2021 Leaf Draft Football Blaster Box
50 Card Set
2 Autographs Per Blaster Packed Separately
$22 A Blaster

Summary:Leaf Draft continues it's run at being one of the first football products that releases around draft time. This year they switched up their usual pack ripping retail experience to simply offering up a complete set of cards along with the usual two autographs.

*takes a sip, begins to ...well...open up a box and a boxed set...not as much fun..*

Here are the key cards that my blaster yielded:

*takes a sip before concluding today's coffee break*

I was pretty bored with this years Leaf Draft retail product. I have nothing against getting a complete set, but I wouldn't mind having a pack or two to rip. Maybe add a pack of parallels, maybe some short prints. Something that would add some perk to this product.

*I need some breakfast before I ramble on about this product, Coffee Card Blogger out!*

I would also like to wish everyone reading today's post a Happy Memorial Day. I hope everyone has a safe weekend, also drink coffee, not alcohol*

This break wasn't quite as good as the first blaster box, but I still managed to land a solid PC card in the Aaron Judge parallel. Also a new Unleashed for my possible set chase, which I will elaborate on that another time.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you had a good time and hope you had a great cup of coffee.

That was a short break, probably shorter than most real-life coffee breaks at work. Unless you sneak that extra cup or have a co-worker make a Dunkin' run on company time. I think we all have been there at least once.

*takes a sip*

The pack didn't provide me with much for my collection other than some Rated Rookies. It was still a fun rip regardless and gave me an excuse to come on here and drink more coffee. Not that I need to. Okay, I need to.
