Time For A Gatorade Bath And An Autograph or Two

Yesterday I showcased my first purchase with my Steiner Sports Browns QB promo gift card, today I am showcasing the other purchase. The one I had to have.

The timing on my gift card couldn't have arrived any better, Steiner was running a sale on certain items and one of the items was for a dual signed photo from Super Bowl 42 featuring Giants FB Madison Hedgecock and 2-time Super Bowl winning coach and one of my favorite all-time coaches, Tom Coughlin.

This 16x20 photo is full of color (they had a sepia toned version one on sale too but I liked this one much more), life and feature two autographs I don't have and wanted, especially Coughlins.

 

 

I wished the Giants could had made the kinda splashes they made this year in Free Agency in past years when Coughlin was coach and maybe he wouldn't have had to "step down" after last season. Images of another Lombardi trophy pop in my head thinking about it.

Either way, there is no argument that this guy is heading to the Hall and I wanted to make sure I added his autograph before he does so.

Thank you Tom for all that you did for the Giants organization and thank you Steiner Sports for running that Browns QB promo.

WELLS, Here Is A Game Used Locker Room Nameplate

I am months behind on posting what I got with my $100 Steiner Sports gift card from the Cleveland Brown's QB promo. If you don't know what that was about, you can find that info on my blog, HERE.

One of the things I wanted to make sure to get was something game used. Something from the Yankees and something from a player I knew, while also not overspending on it so I could get the main item I wanted, which I will post about tomorrow.

At first I really wanted a game used ball since I don't own one. But, decided I would wait. Second, I looked at some game used equipment like gloves, it was a bit steep and I wanted to get more than one item with my gift card so I had to turn it away. So being frugal I continued to search the site until I stumbled upon something that not only fit within the budget, but also was game used and by a player I knew.

And that's how I ended up with this sweet Vernon Wells game used Locker Room name plate. It's going to look great in the man cave.

 

 

Wells was best known for his years in Toronto as an All-Star Gold Glover and not his one in NY where he put up minimal numbers and only hit 11 home runs before calling it a career at the end of the 2013 season. Despite his lack of production and impact, as most of us NY fans say, once a Yankee, always a Yankee no matter what. (not unless they play for the Red Sox afterwards then they are dead to me JK)

Steiner Sports Browns Promo Gift Card Arrived! What Did I Buy...

I am not sure how many of you either read my post or knew of the amazing promotion that Steiner Sports was running, but my gift card arrived earlier this week for joining in on it.

To quickly recap their promo, you had to send in a Cleveland Browns QB's autographed item (cards count too) in the past 20 years and in exchange, if you followed Steiner's simple rules, they would take that item and trade you a $100 gift card to their site.

The items that Steiners recieved in the promo would be auctioned off for a good cause. So it's a double win. From what I hear, plenty of collectors and Browns fans took advantage of the promo. Like thousands.

It didn't take me long to find a couple of items to buy with the gift card. I bought one NY Yankees item and one item for the NY Giants.

The One Time A Connor Shaw Autograph Is Worth $100

You read it in the headline folks, I have found a Connor Shaw autograph that is worth $100. Now the $100 I speak of isn't cash, but it's something just as awesome, it's a $100 gift card to Steiner Sports!!

Steiner Sports announced a promotion yesterday, you can find it HERE, where you can trade in an autographed Cleveland Browns photo, mini helmet, football, jersey or card from any of the team's starters at quarterback since 1999 for a $100 gift card in return! It's a way to give back to those Brown's fans who have gone through so much QB drama. Or for collecting fans like me who sat and waited on a guy who I thought might be one of those surprise undrafted rookies who makes it big time. Sorry Connor, your 177 yards in the 2014 finale as a starter isn't enough for me.

So here is the card I will be submitting in tomorrow.

Back Of The Card:

One of the biggest rules of the promotion is that it had to be a legit autograph from legit companies. Right here is my guarantee.

And here he is getting packed up for his journey. I will miss the card a bit because I do like the design, but Steiner offers so many great items that I am sure I will soon forget.

I made sure to include an index card with my info for the gift card.

Final envelope all addressed and protected to go out in the mail tomorrow.

  

Once this reaches them, it says on the site it will take up to three weeks to receive the gift card if you are approved. I assume all that means is if the item you sent in is off their list and is legit. Which mine is.

I will let you guys know what I pick up with the gift card once I get it back. I have my eyes on a few things.

My First Game Used NY Ranger Piece

Part 2 of my Steiner Sports order gives us a NY Rangers piece. I don't really watch hockey anymore, haven't in years, but I do keep a close eye on the Rangers and still collect items (mostly cards) of them.

One hockey item I have always wanted was game used net. I always wanted to pull a hockey card with it but have been completely unsuccessful with that option. So when searching the Steiner Sports website and coming across this beautiful piece for $9.99, I couldn't turn it away.

The netting has marks on it. Even cooler! I was also thinking how great of a card this would make with the relic being in a shadowbox.

Here is a certificate of authenticity from Steiner that was included on the plaque.

For a free $25 gift card, I thought I scored pretty well. I think the main point of the gift card was to lure in new customers which to me was a brilliant idea. I was amazed by the amount of items they offer and some of those items were at very reasonable prices such as the two I picked up. They may have attracted me for future business.

Derek Jeter Made Me Buy Dirt

A few months ago, Steiner Sports was running a promotion if you signed up for their newsletter, they would give you a $25 gift card for free. At first I questioned it, but all I had to do was enter my email. What was there to lose? That answer, nothing. So a few days later, I received the gift card in my email and started my search on what to buy.

One of the cool things I came upon was game used dirt from Derek Jeter's last game at Yankee Stadium that was scooped up and placed in a capsule..

Yes, I know it's dirt and yes I know I can get dirt outside and yes I know it's dirt. Wait, did I repeat myself?? Believe me, I second guessed it. But The Captain walked on this dirt for the final time. That's right. One of the greatest Yankees may had stepped, sweated, stopped a grounder on this dirt within this tiny capsule. It was only a matter of seconds when I added this $9.99 item to my cart. I also liked that it had MLB certification.

Packer Fans Don't Look, The Kick WAS GOOD!

My first two weeks of the NFL have been awful. The Giants continued to blow games late this week, my NFL pick 'em looked to had been done by a 2 year old (they might have done better) and even though it appears I may get a fantasy win this week (need 11 points total between Andrew Luck and Chris Ivory) my team has a long way to go.

So to help bring some cheer to this NFL season I have had so far, I will have to take a look back. Where you may ask? Well, to the 2008 NFC Championship game between the Giants and Packers. An amazing game with a great finish. At least for Giants fans.

So the game was tied 20-20 . It honestly shouldn't have been, Lawrence Tynes had missed multiple FG's including one at the end of the game in regulation that would had won it.

But he we were. Green Bay had the ball and I was covering my eyes sweating like a pig with my jersey pretty much glued to me at that point. Brett Favre suddenly released the ball and I was thinking "oh no" but somehow and someway CB Corey Webster jumped the route intercepting it. I shouted so loud I was shocked the windows didn't break. I mean, they did this off from the LEGEND Brett Favre who had been put in winning situations many times.

Now a few downs later, it was up to Lawrence Tynes again. Could he kick the Giants to the Super Bowl or crumble under pressure.

Let's see if my newest pickups, roughly under $3 from Steiner Sports, can tell the story a bit. They are quite impressive shots.

The kick is up in the air, by now I am down on one knee like the players on the sidelines....

And IT'S GOOD! The Giants are going to the Super Bowl!!!!!! And if I have any Patriot fans reading this, I must remind you of how great that Super Bowl was :-D

Those were the days. Feels like forever ago and that same feeling I have is about the last time I have watched a playoff game with the Giants.

This years Giants have played well like I thought they might. The offense did pick up last week, the defense is slowly improving and now with the best players Dallas has out for awhile, the Giants with a few wins could put themselves in good position. Of course this is saying they can stay healthy too and I think Victor Cruz or another WR is really needing to step up. Odell is dominant, but if teams start to pile on him, Eli has nowhere to go.

In closing, another thing to note as well, in that same season in the above article I just wrote, they started out 0-2, gave up a ton of points/yards before playing the Redskins and turning their season around. Guess who comes to NY on Thursday night......
