Dr. Strange And Gang

I have mentioned before in the past how a lot of my trades begin. It always starts out with one card or two I really want, then it blossoms to so much more. Once again, this was the case in my latest trade with @APetrelak.

First up, some NY Rangers he tossed in for me. I really dig the UD Ice.

Some Young Guns and rookie cards I am always willing to add. My hockey rookie PC the last few years has been sparse, this should help fill in a bit more.

This was not only a rookie, but a sick looking parallel I was into.

Up next, I have been needing a Carmelo rookie, now I have one. Gotta find myself a D.Wade next. And a Benchwarmer addition. No reason for it, just because.

My first Pinnacle Mint hockey coin. I know many think this was a crazy idea, but I liked it.

Unopened pack for my new series coming up in January.

Some shiny soccer adds.

This was a really cool card. A Marvel Gems Crystal Clear card. It's printed on a very thick acetate. Nice addition to my non sports PC.

Speaking of nice additions to my Non Sport PC, this card is the one that started this trade. As soon as I saw it, I wanted it. Great design as well.

A big thanks goes out to Alec again for the mail day. I hope we can make more trades down the road.

Mail Day Saturday:Reader's Mail Day Part 1:Little Of Everything

I posted last weekend about my latest mail day from Sport Card Collectors reader Grady M and thought it was time I started to break this down to show what was hidden inside of this box.

To save myself some time and to save this from being broken down to 7 or 8 posts, I cut my pictures in half and made stacks for certain sections. But, I will do my best to generalize what was in there.

Up first, you can't see it that well, but there was a stack of NY Ranger base cards. Mostly from Upper Deck.
Next, TONS of inserts from Topps, Stadium Club, Heritage and so on.
I pulled this Randy Johnson out because it was my first 2016 Topps baseball insert. I have been really slacking with my box busts recently. I haven't opened any 2015 Topps Chrome baseball or football and no 2016 Topps baseball which are usually musts for me. That's what happens when funds are low.

I also pulled this out cause I really dig the design. Topps did a great job with these perspectives in my opinion.
First Pitch is one of my favorite inserts from Topps flagship in some time. It's outside the box thinking and I like that. OH, not to mention I got a new Griffey from Gypsy Queen in the bottom right.

Tons of minis! Gypsy Queen, Allen and Ginter and Upper Deck Goodwin Champions.

And to finish it up, a sharp looking CC Sabathia jersey card. Just wished CC was the same guy he was when he first arrived in NY.
This is only one of four parts I am posting on this mail day. Plenty more to show coming up soon.

Box Of Goodies,Grady M Mail Day Part 1:Random Goodness

Opening up my mail box yesterday and discovering a big box that was mailed by Sport Card Collectors reader and fan, Grady M, I knew my day was going to be made. As you have seen in the past, he bombs me with tons of great inserts covering all sports and my teams/players. Such a generous guy and collector and someone I am very blessed to have met on here. We have been exchanging packages for about a year now.

I posted yesterday that I wasn't going to post these til next week, but I am so far behind on blog posts I am going to plug these in when I can instead. Today was a slow day on here so it sounds like a great time to share this.

Now onto part 1 which consists of many sports.

Up first, a HUGE stack of NY Ranger base cards from UD Series 1 and Prizm.
Inserts. Artifacts in the top middle is numbered.

Love these. They may not be the same ones that UD put out in the 90's, but the nostalgic appeal is still there.
A couple more nice cards.

Even found two NEW Griffeys for that PC. I am on the drive to 800!!

NBA inserts and Knicks base.

Even some NASCAR. These made me a bit sad as we haven't had a new release in so long for racing cards (I am not really a racing fan per say, but love the cards especially the memorabilia and inserts) and I am still heartbroken that Press Pass had to close their doors. They put out some great stuff over a long time.

A great way to kick off what's to come. There are 6-parts to this mail day so stay tuned as I will squeeze them all in at some point in the next two weeks!

Grady Strikes Again! Mail Day Part 1: NY, NY

SCC reader Grady M has been known to send some impressive packages. This one was no different as you will see.

I mean look at it from a distance. This is what I got to search through after opening up the box.

As always with his mail days, there is WAY TOO MUCH to put into one post. So I split it up. This time you are looking at a 5-part series that will take this week to post. So yes, no Random Card On My Desk to view this week.

Let's get on with the mail day.

Up first, a pouring of NY Rangers cards.

Numbered!

Then onto some Yankees. Quite a few of them.

Some highlights of the group. Shiny refractors!

Derek. Can't ever complain about finding him. This one is also a new one for the PC.

Then finally, some NY Giants. This team has been so up an down. They play the first half of games like a Super Bowl team and play the second half like the Browns. Just can't figure out why.

Oooooooooooooooooooodellllllll! Numbered Eli too!

And most importantly, a card showcasing "The Catch." Won't complain about that.
This is just a scratch on the surface of what's to come. Next post, tomorrow!

My First Game Used NY Ranger Piece

Part 2 of my Steiner Sports order gives us a NY Rangers piece. I don't really watch hockey anymore, haven't in years, but I do keep a close eye on the Rangers and still collect items (mostly cards) of them.

One hockey item I have always wanted was game used net. I always wanted to pull a hockey card with it but have been completely unsuccessful with that option. So when searching the Steiner Sports website and coming across this beautiful piece for $9.99, I couldn't turn it away.

The netting has marks on it. Even cooler! I was also thinking how great of a card this would make with the relic being in a shadowbox.

Here is a certificate of authenticity from Steiner that was included on the plaque.
For a free $25 gift card, I thought I scored pretty well. I think the main point of the gift card was to lure in new customers which to me was a brilliant idea. I was amazed by the amount of items they offer and some of those items were at very reasonable prices such as the two I picked up. They may have attracted me for future business.

Topic:
How many of you got in on this deal? How many of you bought something from Steiner Sports before? What did you buy? Do you own anything with game used hockey net?

As always, thoughts are welcomed on my mail days!

What Does An Fleer Ultra Hockey Rookie Redemption Look Like? See Here!

Patience. Something all of us must have when it comes to redemptions. That is something I had to learn with my first Upper Deck one in years....and it wasn't even for an autograph!!

In Upper Deck's 2014-2015 Fleer Ultra product, amazing product by the way, they inserted these that fell one-per-box that you needed to redeem online like a redemption card.

With early season hockey card products featuring carryover rookies, rookies that made their debut after the previous hockey card season, Upper Deck decided they would try to include those rookies before the following years products released by including these Rookie Redemption cards. So no waiting til 2015-2016 products to get those late skating rookies. Upper Deck has them now.

And in exchange for the redemption card I redeemed, 5 months later, I received this on Friday...
Not a bad looking card. Just seems like a long time to wait for an non-autographed card but I understand why. I do like the aspect of getting those late season rookies included somehow so you don't have to wait. Other sports could use that too. It also helps that he is in a Rangers uni even though he no longer plays there. I guess that is the only bad part of the redemption promo is UD keeping up on possible moves for these players as well.

So now I gotta ask your thoughts on this. Do you mind waiting for a non-autographed redemption card? Do you like Upper Deck's idea and attempt to try and get these rookies in? Let me hear your thoughts!

Surprise Mail Day From The Pack Gambler! NYY/NYR

When picking up the mail yesterday, I noticed two packages in my mail box. One, I was expecting (post for that later). However the second I wasn't. I read the name on the package and who it was from then I realized who it was, my good ole buddy at The Pack Gambler.

Even though he is retired from blogging right now, we have stayed in touch. But, I had no idea he was sending me anything. As I have stated before in past posts, he is a great guy and someone I plan on staying in touch with and hopefully will see in the blogosphere again.

Now onto the surprises. He sent me two team bags, one with Yankees and the other with NY Rangers.

Here is the Rangers part of the mail day:

Now onto the Yankees. Some great insert adds here. I didn't have any of them.

There is just something about that Topps Mickey Mantle base card that I love. It's hard to explain why. Maybe it's the photo. Maybe it's the throwback. Maybe it's because it's The Mick. It's just a great card and I am happy to have it now.

I hadn't seen Archives up close til I saw these. The product is much better in person than I perceived online.

And the final few cards including another Topps Archive and a new Jeter.
Overall, a great surprise and something that made the #SCC3YR weekend even better.

Even though I messaged The Pack Gambler yesterday and told him thanks for the surprise mail day, I will say it again on here again. Thanks man. I truly appreciate the cards for the PC.

Grady M. Mail Day Part 1:NY GIANTS/Hockey Cards

Yesterday was one great mail day. One, I got my Panini Reward Points cards (these will be posted sometime soon too) and two, this tremendous mail day from Grady M on the Sport Card Collectors Facebook page arrived.

This isn't the first package he has sent. Him and I have been going back and forth sending each other packages for a few months now. This is one of the most generous and nicest collectors I have met online and his "surprise" packages never disappoint. They are usually loaded with inserts, rookies and the occasional game used or autographed card. A lot of the stack focuses on my main teams/players, but he also sends other teams/players as well as I pretty much collect everything.

In today's mail share, I am showing off my NY Giants/hockey card part of my mail day and what I am showing isn't all of it. These were certain cards I picked out of it. There was also a stack of base for each team as well but I didn't have time to upload and take every picture. So I guess you can call this, the best of the best.

To kick it off are the NY Giants. I Really like Absolute retail. I hadn't seen any up close til now. The L.T. hologram is nice as well.

2 NEW ODELLS! Also my other boy Dre Will!

More fun Giants inserts. Cool camo Prizm of JPP! Hope the Giants are smart and re-sign him.

Love the Clarity insert. If you haven't seen these, they are printed on VERY THICK acetate.

Some Rueben Randle adds and can't ever go wrong with an Odell.

These are all players I miss on the Giants. Nicks and Bradshaw left, I think Jernigan to follow this year.

Time for Regis and Kathy Lee! Wait, this is just Kathy....

BOOM! COREY WASHINGTON!! Been wanting to add his rookies to my collection. Now I have the base card and red spectrum parallel. Now I just need his auto.

A cool Circle K collectible disk. I think it said 1986.
Just think, that is only a fifth of this mail day. Some really nice NY Giants adds that are all new adds to my PC.

Now onto the hockey.

You all know my love of refractors. Same goes for Prizms.

A couple numbered cards and cool die cut

And to finish this up, some Canvas cards. I am a big fan of those.
Overall, I am blown away. Grady sent amazing package and this was only part of it. I can't wait to share the rest of this with you guys so make sure to check back in tomorrow.
