SURPRISE! A Giant Mail Day From Up North

I have a few mail days I have been waiting on, so when I went to pick up the mail yesterday, one struck me odd. It was a package from my good buddy up north, @DVass16. What struck me odd? I wasn't expecting a mail day from him.

So as giddy as a little kid at Christmas, I tore open the package before I reached my vehicle and smiled at the results within. Inside was a note from @DVass16 "hoping that these would help my PC" and boy did they!

First up, a numbered Eli Manning insert

Next up is three cards for my continuing Rueben Randle PC. I haven't added to it in awhile so adding three new cards to it really helps. First up is this big sized red-color jersey swatch. Looks really sweet and is kinda unique cause the jersey is wrinkled. The only thing that has ever bugged me about Inception is the 00 jerseys. For the love of Topps put a number on them!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't pulled or owned a Fabric Of The Game in YEARS. To have one that spells out Giants and of Randle...BOOOO YAAAHH!

And finally, a sweet patch /49 from Absolute Memorabilia!!

Surprise Mail Day From The Pack Gambler! NYY/NYR

When picking up the mail yesterday, I noticed two packages in my mail box. One, I was expecting (post for that later). However the second I wasn't. I read the name on the package and who it was from then I realized who it was, my good ole buddy at The Pack Gambler.

Even though he is retired from blogging right now, we have stayed in touch. But, I had no idea he was sending me anything. As I have stated before in past posts, he is a great guy and someone I plan on staying in touch with and hopefully will see in the blogosphere again.

Now onto the surprises. He sent me two team bags, one with Yankees and the other with NY Rangers.

Now onto the Yankees. Some great insert adds here. I didn't have any of them.

There is just something about that Topps Mickey Mantle base card that I love. It's hard to explain why. Maybe it's the photo. Maybe it's the throwback. Maybe it's because it's The Mick. It's just a great card and I am happy to have it now.

I hadn't seen Archives up close til I saw these. The product is much better in person than I perceived online.

And the final few cards including another Topps Archive and a new Jeter.

Overall, a great surprise and something that made the #SCC3YR weekend even better.

Even though I messaged The Pack Gambler yesterday and told him thanks for the surprise mail day, I will say it again on here again. Thanks man. I truly appreciate the cards for the PC.

MINDBLOWING Surprise Mail Day From The Pack Gambler

It was just a normal day, slight breeze, partially sunny and a bit cold. I was making my usual morning run to the post office to pick up the mail always in anticipation of awaiting packages. I did get one of the packages I was counting on however there was a bigger one waiting for me. I read the label and saw that it was from The Pack Gambler. The package was very shocking since I wasn't expecting anything, what was inside was even more shocking.

I opened the box to find the this:

I first pulled out the 12 packs of 1991 Action Packed football (gonna save them for a Monday break 'em), and found these two sweet items!

Upon further digging...it was all about the base, about the base, no inserts. Sorry, that song is catchy though I hate it.

In this base card lot was Giants, NY Rangers and Yankees

Then this sweet baby from 2004! Shiny! I have never seen one of these.

Then the hit parade rained and boy did it rain....Two Nassibs. Love the Triple Threads.

Then I found this. AMAZING!

Overall, my mind was blown. The surprise alone was amazing, but looking at what the contents were, wow. I am still speechless.

I would like to say a MONSTER THANK YOU to The Pack Gambler. They will be missed! It's really hard to lose someone great and trustworthy for the hobby but hopefully someday The Pack Gambler will return to full force.

I just have to end this again with another thank you to The Pack Gambler. Words cannot express the thanks for your kindness as your kind gesture will remain in my memory forever. Good luck on your next journey and keep in touch!

Winner Of October's Pack Gambler Contest

A decent turnout for what is one of the final three contests I will be running with The Pack Gambler as he is taking an absence from the hobby for awhile. It is always sad when a good guy leaves, but sometimes circumstances pop up where you have to make the tough decisions.

Winner Of The Pack Gambler Contest!

Well, another great turnout for The Pack Gambler contest! Thanks to everyone who participated! This one was a bit challenging to pick a winner. Nobody had a close score. Some were close in yardage and only 8 of you chose the Bengals. Everything was all over the map. The delay on picking this winner was figuring out the fairest way to get one, so I contacted The Pack Gambler to see what their thoughts were on trying to pick a winner.

We rummaged through a few ideas and they came up with the idea to "go with the closest score and closest yards since no one had them right on, then the closest difference between the score & yards wins." I thought this sounded fair that way everyone who picked the Bengals had a shot. So after spending a good half hour sorting out everything, I finally narrowed down a winner. This winner did really well on their yards which saved the win for them only being 5 yards off. So without anymore delay, the winner of August's The Pack Gambler Contest is....GRADY MALACHOWSKI!!!!

What's In The Mailbox?

In the newest edition of What's In The Mailbox?, we discover a pretty cool personality autograph of a former player and head coach in the National Hockey League who is now a longtime commentator and hockey analyst for ESPN and who contributes to NHL Network as well. When I saw this Barry Melrose autograph, I just couldn't let it go to someone else. Other than having watched him on television, I liked the design of the Allen and Ginter mini framed autographs and I like to also collect outside the box sometimes and not just go for current players.

I found this particular piece to my PC on the Pack Gambler website. There are many unique pieces to find on there as you have seen in my past mail days. 

Being the great person The Pack Gambler is and knowing how big of a Giants fan I am, he threw these bonuses in for free as well:

I was extremely thankful for the bonuses. I especially like the Matt Bahr autograph.
