Fan PC: Joe Delguidice EPIC Trent Richardson Collection

After posting many times welcoming fans and readers of this blog to send us their PC and getting no response, Joe contacted us about his Trent Richardson collection. He claimed it was huge and first impression to us was maybe 30-40 cards. Cause to us, thats big. But after witnessing picture, after picture, after picture we knew we were wrong. What you are about to witness is an epic ride of awesomeness. This is by far the best collection we have personally seen and we think you guys will really enjoy this one.

Thanks again to Joe for sharing this and for the rest of you who are about to enjoy this wonderful card gallery! Enjoy and let us know your thoughts in comments.

And to keep track of what he does or doesn't have notebooks are involved...here are most of the notes. To have a collection as big as this, this looks like the best way to sort these.

Fan Box Breakers: 2007 Ace Straight Sets Tennis

We like the fact that Jammin JDcards is always sharing his breaks with us and the variety of sports to choose from. Today, we look at a break of tennis. Let us know your thoughts and if you would like to share a break with us just email us some pics and a small writeup to sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Here is what Jammin JDcards says about this break
2007 Ace Straight Sets Tennis – I am a huge Tennis fan and unfortunately there is not a bunch of Tennis cards. So, I found this little blaster box of 2007 Ace. The base cards are a decent looking card with a surprisingly cool design. There is a few parallel colors Red and Bronze that I know of. The singles insert set is decent but nothing to run around in excitement about. The Maria Sharapova material card is awesome. It is guaranteed to have been worn DURING a match at an ATP tournament. That is pretty sweet! This product is cheap and pretty nice for the price. Design – 6/10, Quality 6/10, Value 8.5/10.

Fan Box Break: 2012 Sp Authentic Football

Jammin JDcards submitted us this break of Sp Authentic Football 2012. If you are interested in submiting your break take a couple of pictures and a small writeup than email us sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Let us know how you thought he did:

Here is what Jammin JD says about his break:
2012 SP Authentic Football – This is a very nice, clean looking set. The base cards are a little thicker than a normal card, giving them a higher end feel. The 94 SP throwback inserts are a nice touch. I remember collecting that set when it came out – one of my favorites at the time. There is a canvas like insert set which has a sweet feel to it - Reminds me a little of UD Masterpieces. The Jim Kelly Shadow Box is AWESOME! I love the gold foil field in the shadowbox, such an awesome card. The Base Auto is boring but at least it is on card and not a sticker. The 94 SP Auto’s are a nice touch and I was thankful I did not have to look at another base auto. Lastly, the LaMichael James Auto Patch #/25 left me slightly speechless. The Oregon Patch is just straight up awesome with the letters EG. Overall this is a nice product, I think that Upper Deck is doing a nice job working with no NFL license. 8/10 Design, 8/10 Quality, 9/10 value.

Review: Prime Signatures Football 2012

Prime Signatures was very appealing last year with its thick base cards and sweet looking autographs. However, with one hit its a hit or miss. Last year our one hit was a redemption. This year we got two autographs.

Photobucket

Box Break Down:
  • 1 Pack Per Box, 4 Cards Per Pack
  • (1) Autographed Card Per Pack /199 or Less
  • (2) Common Base & (1) Parallel Card Per Pack
  • Boxes will run ya $55

BASE CARDS: I do like the base cards. Very thick. Very eye catching and very thick. If all base cards were like this it might lead to less pack searching. Each of these base cards are numbered as well. However, putting a set together would be a monumental task with only 2 base per pack.

INSERTS: You get one of these Prime Proofs per box. These are numbered to 49.

AUTOGRAPHS:One of these per box on average. We beat the odds and got two. Though they are no namers, I still like the design of the base cards with an autograph even if its a sticker

JERSEY/PATCH CARDS: N/A (New to this years product is auto patch cards. These look sick when pulled)

OVERALL THOUGHTS: I like the design but getting only 4 cards (we got 5 with the extra auto) and only one hit makes this product a tough buy. Its not one I would take a risk on when I can buy other products for this price and end up with more. The designs are nice, but I still think this product is missing something. Maybe up the cards to 10 per pack and 3 hits at a $100 would be better for this. Its just to risky of a buy for this blogger.

RATINGS:  Bloggers Note: Our ratings are based specifically on the blaster, box or packs we opened and do not express what the overall product could bring. Ratings based on a 1-5. 1 Being the lowest and 5 being the highest.
                Packaging: 4
                Base Design: 4
                Insert Design: 4
                Memorablila/Autographs: 4
Blaster, Hobby Box, or Pack Value: 2

Reuben Randle PC pickups

I don't usually put a focus on a certain player because usually what I have is called an open PC. Meaning I don't collect one thing or another. I just collect whatever falls into my hands. But after getting a small eBay gift card for Christmas I thought to myself...is it time to dig back into collecting a player like I used to in my earlier collecting years? If you don't know by now, I hugely collected Ken Griffey Jr and even made it into Super Collectors portion of Beckett Baseball a few years ago. But I gave up on Griffey after he got injured and I lost out on values and have just collected everything. My fear would be investing into a player and losing out in the long run. Thats why I like an open PC, you always have everything. So some will jump, some will fall but you will always win when it comes to values.

However, I did sit down thinking to myself, boy I really think it would be fun to maybe find a player to collect and maybe give my collection another project (not that it needs one). And since I collect mainly football and my love of Giants I put the best of two together. However my rules were, only a young rookie offensive player this year or last and they had to be reasonably priced because I didn't know how long I would do this for and didn't want to invest into a guy too much.

Than I thought of one. I at first wanted to do David Wilson who I think will be the Giants starting running back next season, but prices are way too high. Then I thought to myself...what about the other young talented Giants rookie...yes! Thats it. I will start to collect Reuben Randle!

Here is my $20...thats right...$20 pickup from eBay to start off my collection:

Hard to see but the Chrome is an auto. The Strata is numbered to 99

I would say for $20 I got a great deal. The card below this I got for $7 alone!

As I continue to pick up more Randles I will do more updates right here on the blog. That way you guys can keep track of me to make sure I am adding to it and this wasn't just it. Like I said, I don't know how long my Randle PC will run for, but for now I can say I am collecting him. However, I am keeping my main emphasis on my open PC. This will just be a side burner project for now. But you never know.

Thanks for viewing and your thoughts are always welcomed! And if you have a PC you would like to share with us, please email us to sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com and give us a small writeup and pictures with it. You yourself can also pose with it.

Super Bowl 47 Prediction

To break down this game..well it could be a challenge. It will be a great game and will be close one. Two brothers facing off as head coaches. Three Ravens possibly retiring after the game. A 49ers QB who has shocked the world with his play. Two tough defenses that have turned up the heat in the playoffs. Joe Flacco playing for a huge contract and some respect. Even though there are lots of story lines..there is only one winner.

We will break down a few key positions than announce our winner:

Panini America SB XLVII Niners 1     Panini America SB XLVII Ravens 6

QB's: Colin Kaepernick came off the bench after Alex Smith got injured and hasn't stopped playing since. This is a bold choice for any coach to choose a second year guy who had never played before to lead a team that was already the top in its division and a playoff team. Guess the gamble has paid off. He is a threat both on the ground and through the air. He could be the reason whether SF wins or not as Baltimores defense is very aware of him

Joe Flacco on the other hand, struggled early on this season before Baltimore made a bold decision around Week 15 and let go of their offensive coordinator which no team does that late in the season and since then you could almost put the word Elite with Flacco as he has thrown for 8td's and no ints in the playoffs.

I gotta give FLACCO the edge here. More experience and is the reason. Thought I expect a good game from Colin.

Panini America SB XLVII Niners 2     Panini America SB XLVII Ravens 2

RB's: Frank Gore tore apart the Falcons defense and with LeMichael James in the mix it gives San Fran a 1-2 punch. Both running backs bring their own style to the table.

Baltimore has their own version of this. Benard Pierce came on late in the season and has played really well since but Ray Rice will still be carrying the load and with him as a duel threat in running and catching I give RAY RICE and the Ravens the very slight edge here though this is a very tight victory for the RB's with San Fran being one of the toughest defenses against the run and Baltimore struggling to stop the run at points. My edge goes only because of Rice's versatility and I believe he is more a threat than Gore.

Panini America SB XLVII Niners 3     Panini America SB XLVII Ravens 3
WR's: This one to me is a TIE. Crabtree is starting to play like a first round pick after Colin took the reigns. Randy Moss is showing some youth and stretching the field and Vernon Davis is always a threat no matter what. Then you go to the other side, Boldin is playing like he did in Arizona, Torrey Smith has been incredible to watch and almost unstoppable and Pitta the TE has been a surprise and under the radar for his great play most of the season. There is a lot of talent here and it will be interesting to see which of these players show up in the Super Bowl.

Panini America SB XLVII Niners 5     Panini America SB XLVII Ravens 1

DEFENSES:  Both play very physical. Both have been on and off all season. Both have leaders who both happen to be MLB's. Baltimore has been impressive on defense going up against the leagues top QB's and beating them in the playoffs. Injuries in the regular season and poor secondary play made them look weak but as most good teams do they turned it on for the playoffs.

San Fran has kept teams in line shutting down the Falcons in the closing seconds and keeping Green Bay out of the end zone a few times. Despite giving up 20+ in both of their playoff games, this is still a defense to reckon with with all of their Pro Bowl talent.

Though both have a sketchy secondary a good pass rush has been helping them both win. In the end even though they play the same kind of  defense, I give SAN FRAN the edge despite Baltimore playing better than theirs in the postseason. They are younger and they have what I believe is the more physical defense by a slight edge.

In the end Baltimore holds a slight edge in our breakdowns. And we think in this game they hold a slight edge as well. They have played out of their minds at the end of the season making a run through the playoffs beating top notch QB's and now they face an inexperienced one. We have seen this over the past few seasons where a team makes a late run and are underdogs in the Super Bowl then prevail in the end. Unlike others, I think this game will score in the 20's. I will say Baltimore will win 28-24 and even bolder Flacco will be the games MVP instead of Ray Lewis. And personally, I am hoping the Ravens win. I base my hopes on rookie cards only and the hope it will drive their value up. For the first time, I don't favor one team really over the other.

What are your thoughts about the big game and who do you got?

Prize Lot I Won

Here is what I got in a recent prize lot I won from a great member on the Beckett Forums. I thought it was a great lot with some Giants cards mixed in. A couple of autos. A couple of really nice sick patch cards. When I am not on here, I am on there posting. Some great people to talk sports cards with. Hoping they visit me here as well. And hoping our Sports Talk and Hobby Talk sections start to liven up a little more as well.

Whats the nicest prize..besides what you have won from us...have you gotten from forums or other blogs?

And what are your thoughts on my lot?

FANdom Card Of The Day: Ray Rice Material Ink Card

Ray Rice could be the key to the Ravens trying to win the Super Bowl. If they can mix in run with that dynamic passing attack, watch out!
