Wrappers Of Collecting Past:1999 Upper Deck Century Legends Baseball

Upper Deck Legends was a red hot brand out in 1997. The on-card autographs of NFL greats sold extremely well and still do today.

A couple years later, Upper Deck released a Century Legends baseball product and I knew I had to jump in on a few packs.

 

I never actually hit anything out of it at all and the product sold pretty fast locally so I was only able to scoop up a few packs.

A couple of years ago I was able to pick up some base card singles off a yard sale for the PC but other than that, I haven't seen much of the product around.

My "Judges Chambers"

Not since Derek Jeter have I been this excited about a Yankees player as I am in Aaron Judge. This dude can hit the ball and hit the ball far and hard as we all can tell with his league leading 18 dingers.

Also for the first time in years, I have started to keep tabs on my team once again and watched a few games as well because of the excitement that Judge brings. Judge has simply brought me back to watching baseball. Something I haven't really done a whole lot of since Griffey Jr's retirement as Ken was a big reason I watched baseball.

Of course I watched the Yankees A LOT back then as well but not so much in recent years.

It amazes me how one player can change my look at baseball and give me a reason to pay attention to it once again. I have always collected the cards but haven't paid much attention to the game recently.

So yesterday, I spent at least a few hours going through binders to round up what Aaron Judge cards I had besides the few I knew of from 2017.

2017 Topps Rainbow Foil which is by far my best card of the group.

 

Obviously an autograph is tops on my wantlist, but I would also be happy in owning 2017 Archives, Heritage, Donruss, Gypsy Queen and Opening Day rookies as well along with other Bowman ones I am missing since baseball is a weird rookie sport and he has had cards released since 2013.

Big 'Ole Box Of Goods

Once again, the great Sport Card Collector reader Grady M has struck my mail box with box of goodies.

And I can tell you that this bad boy was packed full of inserts, rookie cards, and a few hits. There was so much in here I can't even post it all or it would have to be a 100 part series. However, I will post key components of what I find in here.

 

I haven't quite sorted it all out yet and taken pictures. This may be another month process and the posts for this mail day are looking to be started in August at this point. But, it will be well worth the wait!

Wrappers Of Collecting Past:2002 Bowman Baseball

Let's go back to 2002. A year I must remember quite well as it was the year I met my wife. Those of you that are married know it's not good to forget important dates and years especially in the first year you were together.

Well, the one thing about my wife is that she likes to bust cardboard. She isn't one that collects, but loves to open and find the hits or my favorite players. So more than likely we busted some 2002 Bowman.

 

The wrapper does look familiar but as for what I may have gotten, it couldn't have been anything too big as I forgot about it. It's probably the only thing I forgot about in 2002.

However, it was a product loaded with a good rookie class with players like Joe Mauer and Fransico Liriano.

So I pass it on to you guys...you remember any good hits or pulls from 2002 Bowman? What was your favorite rookie/prospect card from the set? Let me know in comments!

Wrappers Of Collecting Past:1996 Collectors Choice Baseball Series 2

If this wrapper does not scream the 90's at you or doesn't make you think about Saved By The Bell at least, you were born in the 2000's.

At least in my opinion.

 

I remember busting this stuff because it was not only cheap, but I was chasing down my Griffey needs. I also liked chasing down the Cal Ripken Jr Collection insert cards.

Perking Me Up

I have met some incredible giving friends on Twitter and one name continues to pop up in posts on here, @JGfan24ever. I can't even count the amount of times I have seen this guy give out #HobbyLove and #PayItForward to so many.

This time once again, he gave to me and couldn't have come at a better time. Recently I have had some health struggles landing me in the ER a couple of times and an overnight stay in the ICU. A new med I was taking to help prevent future kidney stones since I am prone to them had an adverse reaction  causing my potassium to slip among other electrolytes and leading my heart to pound out of my chest among many other scary effects. I was hooked up to heart monitors and put through many tests to make sure all was well. My pulse rate hit 150+ a few time and stayed steady at 125 most of the time for someone who usually has a 70-80 rate. It's something I hope I have moved on from now but I can say I don't completely feel 100% yet.

Well, anyways, time to move my mind away from that and get PERKed up.

Just like with my post about Dub Mentality, I was instructed to contact @NickLcitycards
who was running a Twitter card sale with my address so I can get the card that @JGfan24ever had just picked up for me from Nick's sale.

This time it's a sweet 2016 Panini Certified auto-patch of Paul Perkins.

@NickLcitycards even tossed in these extras. Really nice of him and appreciated.
