The Grady Boxes: Box 3

A few times a year, blog reader and good friend Grady M (@gradyfishinsea), sends me a box full of goodies. He has been doing this for many years since we met on my Facebook page.

These boxes usually consist of my four New York teams, some player collections and so much shiny that I have no other choice but to smile.

I never know what is arriving and what surprises hide within until it arrives. But I do know that it will be fun.

So, when Grady sent me a Christmas box round of cards, I had a hard time waiting until Christmas to open it, but I did.

Inside of the big box it came in, were multiple empty blaster boxes full of treasure.

I thought to myself, how does one post so many cards on a blog without spamming it completely. After much thought, I sat down and decided I would show off some, yes some, of my favorites from each blaster box.

Let's take a peek of what was inside of this 2023 Topps Heritage blaster.

I don't know who Hernandez is or what this parallel is called, but it's super cool.

Well designed soccer card, I don't know the player, but like the look.

This year's MVP in my opinion, he is also a side PC. I like players who are fun to watch.

Donruss Elite had some beautiful parallels this year, but none more stunning than this blue one.

I didn't open any Big League, but it looks like it was a cool product. These Judges may be my favorite ones now.

Let's take a peek of what was inside of this 2022 Topps Chrome blaster.

We kick it off with a new Junior.

My lack of buying in 2023 left a lot of empty spots in my collection, this Griffey fills in one.

Same goes for this Dexter Lawrence, Mosaic parallels are underrated.

Thunder and Lightning. Zenith has some pretty nice inserts, we don't have products that focus on inserts anymore.

This is a shiny parallel, was hard to capture it.

I didn't open any Big League, but it looks like it was a cool product. These Judges may be my favorite ones now.

Brent's Colorful Mail Day

This past Sunday you saw how @Brent3323 sent me a Rodney Hampton I needed but what I hadn't shown you was the rest of the goodies he sent along with it.

Such as this Mirror Orange from Certified of Dalvin Tomlinson.

Or this orange Sterling Shepard.  I don't know if I own any orange parallels from Prizm and this could be a first.

Up next is this red parallel from Panini XR of Dexter Lawrence. I was expecting more out of him this year so far and expectations of him haven't panned out, yet. We are only heading into Week 5.

Another Dexter Lawrence was in the package as well, this time a Red White and Blue parallel from Prizm or as I call it the NY Giants parallel.

Dion Sends A Biggie

What seemed to originally look like a long drawn out trade with Dion's Autograph Collection blog turned out much shorter as I was "forced" to the Post Office to mail out another package. So I figured while I was out, why not finish up my trade with Dion as well.

It's really odd to write the words "forced" and Post Office but with this whole Covid thing going on, I am avoiding going out as much as possible.

But, with a couple of big PC cards that could be had in these trades, I pushed myself and went to get these completed.

Dion had recently acquired a lot of Giants cards and he knew the collector to come to first and here we are. One thing to note, not all of the Giants cards from this trade will be featured in this post. You gotta check out SNAGGING CARDBOARD if you want to see the rest.

Up first, some Saquon. The bottom right is a not a Topps rookie, but someone using the Topps design. I have had my eye on these just because they look cool.

Odell Beckham Jr. Just a couple of the ones I grabbed from Dion

This guy is going to break out soon, I just know it!

Dexter will have a big role in the Giants defense next season. If they are going to get better, it's gotta start with this guy

Eli! Going to miss him. Glad there is so much more cardboard I can collect of him

Love had a solid season last year and will be apart of the Giants secondary somewhere

LT needs no introduction and then comes a Sterling player who hopefully will be healed from multiple concussions. This offense needs him and he doesn't  need those.

The final card, this is one of the biggies I spoke about, Terry Bradshaw rookie card! Dion had some rookies up for grabs including this one and to my surprise nobody claimed it. So I did. Been wanting to add more to my Hall Of Fame rookie card collection and now did.


Big thanks to Dion for the trade. I know we will do another as we are already working on the next one.

Collector Seeking Trades

The Coronavirus Virus has everyone stuck at home, so for me and my limited funds I need to do something to help keep my hobby alive that's not sorting all the time.

So I am doing some figuring out on how to expand my hobby through trading. Not to mention, Why keep hoarding stuff I don't collect when I can pull off a trade for stuff I would rather have? That wasn't always my philosophy as it was more about hoarding, but now it's about my PC and getting cards that mean more to me.

So I have been doing a few PWE trades that will help keep the mail flowing and mind focused elsewhere for now. I have posted both on here and on Twitter for these types of trades which is how I finalized two recently

The first trade I accomplished was on Twitter with @buddy_ammon . He saw my tweet and didn't take long to respond. Actually neither of us took very long to respond as we had a trade in place within minutes. That's what I like. Simple and quick trade where both parties are happy.

So within a day, we both had our mail days on there way.

Not did @buddy_ammon send the card we were trading for, but also tossed in some freebies as well.

Such as this Saquon Gold Lazer. Prizm parallels this year really sparkle.

and my first Obsidian Giants card. They look really good. Hopefully I can add the Jones and Slayton someday.

 

 Speaking of Mr. Jones, I will take any and all.

Which is also a parallel /5. Or as some would call it, an eBay 1/1.

Since this trade I have explored more on Twitter without a ton of feedback on doing one which stinks since I have so much to trade. I think in these trying times right now, the hobby is a great place to turn to especially in trading.

Comin' In Hot:On The Defensive

I recently pulled off a good sized trade with fellow NY Giants fan @Seth_Murphy8. He had a stack of Giants I was very interested in having. It was such a good sized trade that it takes two parts for me to post it. Stay tuned for the offensive part next week.

So we worked out a pretty fast trade and I got to bring home some much needs for my Giants PC as I still don't have much going into the 2019 season.

The X-Man! He has made an impact on this defense so far. I look forward to see how much more he does. By the way, first autograph of him.

Baker had a rough start to the year but seems to be figuring things out. Hopefully he will be a CB one next year.

My second Dre auto. His auto isn't as pretty as Loves.

The Giants received Jabril Peppers and the 17th pick in the draft for Odell Beckham Jr. So far, despite how it sounded unfair at the time, it has been rewarding. Peppers has upped his game and the Giants used that pick to grab Dexter Lawrence who has been a menace up front. As for Odell, well, he isn't having the greatest time in Cleveland. Seems like the Giants won that trade.
