Toney And Salsa

A couple of weeks ago, I had three solid football numbered cards up for trade on Twitter looking for something for my collection in return. I was looking for Big Blue or non-sport.

It took a few days, and a few offers before one of the cards caught someone's eye and before what they had in return caught my eye.

@flickavic, a Washington Commanders fan (feels weird writing that out for the first time), saw my 2021 Illusions King Of Cards /149 red of Sean Taylor and knew he had to have it for his Washington collection. He also knew he had to get rid of some of his Giants cards since they were a hated rival which was a win/win both of us.

The three Kadarius Toney's in this trade I already have multiple copies of, but I was okay with that.

Becuase this final card was the one I had my eye on the most.

 

2014 Topps Triple Theads Patch relic /36 to the words of SALSA of Victor Cruz. The L is the actual patch swatch on the card while the rest is plain jersey. If anyone remembers Cruz, Salsa was the dance he would perform in the endzone after every touchdown he scored. 

I always thought the relics that were designed like this were the best instead of a square. I can't wait to see what Fanatics does with Topps football when the time comes and if they bring back a brand like TTT.

Breakin' Wax:2021 Prizm Draft Football Hanger Box

2021 was much better for me when it came to opening up wax. I was able to find some, trade for some, etc when I had that itch. It may not have always something I was dying to open, but it was something and I will take that over the nothing that was 2020.

I don't have the picture of the box I opened today, but I do have the most important parts, the contents.

And two surprise rookies as well. I must have opened up a few of these hangers/blaster/packs and never once pulled either of these guys. Then I find both right in this break. I won't complain.

I think these are called Green Waves. Pretty cool looking regardless of name.

Nothing overly exciting to brag about. I do like the Fields and Lawrence adds to the rookie PC, but other than that, not much here for me.

Breakin' Wax:2021 Panini Prizm Draft Football Blaster Box

 Finding football cards in retail outlets is like finding that onion ring in your Burger King fries order, it doesn't happen very often. But, it can.

I have been fortunate on and off to be able to open some of the newer products because of my father and some trading. But, believe me, I am not or will not give up my soul to get something to rip. Even though sometimes it is very tempting. 

Today, I am ripping one of the latest football releases in Prizm Draft. I am not an overly huge fan of college football products, but I like to chase the top rookie cards so I will take it for that reason alone. And the Giants drafted a first round WR I am collecting cards of as well.

Every 2021 Prizm Draft football blaster box only comes with 30 cards which is 6 packs of 5 cards. There are no hit guarantees and only thing you can find is a Purple Wave refractor which falls one-per-blaster. Blasters cost $20 per unless you buy from a flipper, then it's $40.

Daniel Jones! This was my only NY Giants base card in my break.

Justin Fields All-American, this was the best base rookie (yes I know it's a subset so technically not rookie) I found.

Best Crusade I found was Micah Parsons.

 

This was my purple wave find. Not anyone I know but I do know some Texas fans I can probably trade this to.

And finally, probably the "best pull" of the box was this Mac Jones Crusade Silver. I believe this guy will be the best QB of this draft. He is by far on the best team and situation out of the rookie QB's. Not that I want any Patriot QB succeeding.

That's it for this break. I won't complain too much with some Daniel Jones cards and the Mac Jones.

Say Hey To The Mail Day

I have been having fun working on a few smaller sorting projects and have been using some of the cards for fun tweets on Twitter.

When I posted a lot of Max Scherzer rookie cards, @thesayheykid95 saw the tweet and inquired about if I was selling the cards. I said I don't sell, but I would be down for a trade, so we did a trade. Our first. First trades are always tough because you really want to having everything go right so you will have a new trader to your circle.

And this one went that great. I got my mail day, he got his, and no hiccups.

 

My mail day landed me this Aaron Judge Optic rookie. I regret letting go of a good portion of my Judge PC about a year ago and have been very snail slow adding some of those back. Judge, Gleyber and Jeter are my Yankee PC's at this point.

 

2020 has opened me back up to collecting a lot more basketball cards and RJ Barrett is one of those big new PC's I have accomplished. I am still lacking an autograph of him which would be a key piece to my collection hopefully at some point.
