LOCKed In, Unlike the USPS

About a month or so ago, I worked out a trade with my buddy Valley Of Cards in exchange for a Drew Lock Prizm rookie I have been wanting/needing. I also REALLY REALLY need the Optic for my set chase.

The trade was fast and smooth and Valley shipped his card pwe and safe to me. I have never had a pwe not arrive from him within two days.

However, this time with changes to USPS in July, they had a different plan. They wanted it to not arrive and that's exactly what happened. But being the good dude Valley is, he went out and bought me one to replace the one that was lost by USPS.

Though that alone was a journey for Valley as he almost had to buy another since it didn't appear the Lock was ever going to ship after over a week of waiting, but it finally did and he shipped it out ASAP hoping not to have anymore hangups with this trade.

And there wasn't as I finally got the card in hand.

Great piece for my rookie card PC. Best Lock card I own.

Thanks again to Valley Of Cards for the trade. Appreciate it as always and hope we can do this again!

While we are on the USPS topic, I can finally say after a month of waiting on one to arrive to it's destination, that I have continued my streak of non lost PWE's getting lost.  However, it's getting scarier to send that way.

So, two questions, one, do you plan to send PWE still despite all of USPS issues and has your mail changed since July when changes were made? Such as mail taking longer to get to you and your recipient? Etc.

Legends Of New York

Unpopular opinion....I like Joe Buck.

So, so many of you complain about him, but when I hear him call a game, it brings me back to a glorious moment in my life.

That moment, Super Bowl 42.

The game that will forever be my favorite Super Bowl. David (Tyree) vs Goliath. The 18-0 Patriots who beat the Giants in the regular season finale to go undefeated, came into the Super Bowl just walking all over the people while the Giants found a way to the Big Game.

Then they found a way to win it.

With 1:15 left in the game, Giants down by 4 needing a touchdown and needing five yards on third down, Eli dropped back, avoids being sacked a few times, somehow stays on his feet and just whips the ball up there for the taken. There was multiple Patriots in the middle of the field and somehow, someway, some special teams WR named David Tyree jumped up in the middle of them, caught the ball, held the ball against him helmet with the great Rodney Harrison trying to pry it away and brought the ball safely down to the ground without dropping it.

I could play that over and over again in my mind.

Four plays later, Eli tossed up a beauty to a wide open Plaxico Burress for the Giants game winning touchdown.

18-1 Patriots....18-1.

This years Plates and Patches product has a Legends subset card of David Tyree who made that heroic play that led to a Giants win (and of course the play is pictured on the card). There is a series of colored parallels that I have considered chasing along with this one.

It wasn't just the play that made that game memorable. Beating the hated Patriots and watching the game with my father which I hadn't done in over 20 years made that game one that I will always remember. Even when I get too old to remember anything else.

That game meant more to me than the one the same two teams played four years later.
Where this guy, Mario Manningham, somehow kept his feet in-bounds by a fraction of an inch with two defenders around him for a gain of 38 yards in Super Bowl 46 that set up Giants momentum as they went for a Game Winning drive.I must also note the throw by Eli was superb. It was only where Manningham had a chance at it. Both catch and throw on that play was memorable.

The Manningham autograph to commemorate Super Bowl 46 is also in this years Plates and Patches product. Both cards were graciously sent to me by my friend Valley Of Cards unexpectedly.

Big thanks to him for these two additions to my Giants PC. If you haven't checked out him yet, please do so. He has some great stuff for sale at great prices on both his eBay shops and his website. Find them all here, website, eBay store 1 and eBay store 2.

Going Back To Valley Of Cards

Valley Of Cards has become more than just somebody I work alongside with, but a good friend as well.

I don't just tweet any ones auctions out. I have to build a trust factor and know a bit about them. Not to mention, I wouldn't put myself apart of anything I wouldn't do myself. So not only do I tweet those auctions out, but I also participate in bidding on some of those as well. Like I have said before, he has a ton of great cards, ships stuff unremarkable even for a PWE and is just plain generous too.

Together we have given a ton of cards away and what you may not have noticed was that he also gave cards away without you even seeing. He private messaged individuals for their addresses and shipped them cards who always participated, but may not have won in the contests. If that's not a helpful/generous guy, I am not sure who is.

I recently won a few of his auctions and boy what a steal I got from them. At least in my opinion.

Zion mania! Well, I am not really into that but found this All Americans base and silver prizm for .99!

The autograph Darius Slayton and the jersey card above, $1.04!

Nice Slayton patch card, .99!

Score Slayton went the highest for $1.87, but way under what most go for.

But, then came the unexpected......like I have said....overly generous dude.

He added all of this into my package when he sent it.
Kaden Smith has played pretty well as a late season pickup for the Giants in place of injured Evan Engram. Hopefully it will carry on and he will be on the team in 2020. I was sent close to 15 or more of his Prizm rookies.

Snazzy Darius Slayton red/white/blue Prizm parallel.

Saquon!!

More Saquon!

DeAndre Baker Prizm auto. He has come on late. Maybe something to build on for next year with a better defensive coach.

Daniel Jones Air Command!

Saquon Barkley Spectra

Another new Saquon.

Whaaaaaa Lawrence Taylor  Hall Of Gold Threads!

Nate Solder Sensational Signatures..guy has a great background story its just too bad his play doesn't equal it.

Boom! Knock this one off the Giants Autograph want list!!

Corbin! Best known for me on Psych as Shawn Spencer's father.

And finally, my first Carrot Top autograph! So cool! Great fit for my non sport PC.

Thanks so much buddy!

Mail Day Triple Header

Have a triple header of mail days that arrived last week I needed to get posted. It's a mix of a little bit of everything.

First up, I have fallen into the Zion faze some. Well, just needed a rookie card so luckily my buddy at Valley Of Cards provided me one.

It's from 2019-2020 Panini Instant. I hope to at least get a Hoops one as well. Need at least one rookie card of every key player. Thanks goes out to Valley Of Cards for helping me out.

I was recently in a three-box mixer break with Midwest Box Breaks and landed the Redskins. Couldn't complain about possibly pulling a Haskins except I didn't. My only card from the break was this Joe Theismann.

It's a beautiful card and is numbered to 5, so not too shabby.

But, being the way Ben is, he tossed in a couple of freebie items. This is probably the best key chain I bet he has handed out ;)

and a Topps Finest refractor /50 for my non sport PC.

If you haven't checked Midwest Box Breaks out yet, please do. Very trusted and cares about the customer. See what they have available for breaks, HERE.

My final mail day was more of a Twitter-claim-generosity type of thing.
I have mentioned before on here how generous and awesome that @imqualifying has been to me in the past with sick 90's inserts and NY Giants cards. Well, she hit me up with my first Golden Tate Giants card. I didn't have one at all til now and what a kickoff to having one.

Thanks Bethany! I owe you one or two actually.

I have one more mail day to show off this week, it's a pretty cool one so stay tuned for it!

The Present And The Past

Last week was a mail day week of epic proportions! There is some stuff I am going to show and others, well, you will have to wait on. I have something special planned with those.

In the meantime, let's check out today's showcase.

My buddy @NYCollects had a few of these Jordan Funko Pops and for some reason or another, I felt obligated to need one. I don[t get it. I couldn't stand MJ growing up. His face was on everything from Got Milk posters to cereal boxes to magazines as he was the NBA. But, as I got older, I learned to appreciate what he brought to the game as nobody brings that now. I don't see LeBron playing with the flu.

Very cool collectible of a legend. Marks only my second Funko in my collection, the other, LT-Lawrence Taylor.

Thanks goes out to @NYCollects for the mail day. I will drop your return card in the mail soon!

My next mail day comes from the great Valley Of Cards. Dude is such a great friend!

Daniel Jones the future and Eli Manning the past all on one card. Great card. I would love an autograph with both guys on it if it looked this sharp. I still have feelings for Eli sitting on the bench for all that he did for NY. But, it was obviously time to move on looking at the teams response since.

Big thanks goes out to  Valley Of Cards for the card. If you haven't yet, click on the link I included to check out their website with a vast of unique memorabilia items and check out their eBay stores here for you collecting needs,

Daniel "Dimes" Jones RAK

It was draft night 2019, I sat by the TV watching pick by pick and messaging my sister in law who lives just a few minutes away from where they held the draft. I told her I assume the Giants would take a QB of the future here and it was too bad she wasn't actually at the event to grab me an autograph.

Up to that point, I was all on board with the Giants taking Dwayne Haskins at 6 but something in my gut told me and from hearing reports over the past few days prior, the Giants were going to pass on him and take some guy named Daniel Jones.

I don't watch college football whatsoever so for me I just go by general numbers and consensus of experts on who should be drafted and where. And the most I had seen of Daniel Jones name was a quick video of him Vs North Carolina where he tore them apart on the ground and through the air.

So there I sat fingers crossed for Haskins, who seemed to be the obvious choice after Murray was taken at one. I even would have been happy with DE Josh Allen sitting there as well as the Giants desperately needed pass rushers.

Then came the commissioner across the screen......With the 6th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the NY Giants select, Daniel Jones QB Duke. And I just like every Giants fan at the time fell to the ground in disbelief.

However, my disbelief didn't actually last that long unlike many other Giants fans. I began to warm up to the idea and welcomed Jones to the Giants. Once you are apart of Big Blue Nation, why would you ever tear apart a guy. Give them a chance and root them on. You gotta have the faith and hope is everything your team thought he was by drafting him with the 6th pick.

The next day I began finding myself requesting Jones cards to trade for but it wasn't that easy. Nobody had any to trade or if they did, they asked an arm and two legs for them. And I wasn't about to give that up for a guy I wasn't sure on yet. Unlike Saquon that I gave up lots of great stuff for.

I did manage a few base cards here and there. Then I finally wanted an autograph really bad. That's when all of a sudden I went on a streak of adding some through trading and then today's that came via RAK from the great Valley Of Cards. Incredible guy and incredible card. My first Giants uniform autograph relic of Jones.
 Numbered to 99!

Jones has played well so far this preseason. No interceptions, two touchdowns and some really nice accurate throws. Of course it is preseason and he is playing against second team defenses , so its still hard to completely judge him yet, but his accuracy alone and ball placement is at least a sign of a bright future.

Well there you have it. Big thanks for the RAK goes out to  Valley Of Cards. If you haven't yet, click on the link I included in the previous sentence to check out their website with a vast of unique memorabilia items and check out their eBay stores here for you collecting needs,

The Future Of Blue

My new friend over at Valley Of Cards recently sent me a couple of cards he thought I would enjoy and boy he was right.

Daniel Jones has been red hot in the preseason. Once again, yes it is preseason, but have you seen the accuracy on his throws? Preseason or not, that still matters. He did fumble twice last night as his first two turnovers and will need to learn how to fix that, but other than that. he has been everything I had hoped.

This marks my first base card with Daniel in blue.

This guy doesn't plan to appear in the preseason as the Giants know how valuable he is to their team. And I am fine with that. So far I would say they have done a good job managing their starters and pulling them without causing injuries.

Big thanks goes out to  Valley Of Cards for the help. If you haven't yet, click on the link I included to check out their website with a vast of unique memorabilia items and check out their eBay stores here for you collecting needs,
