1991 song by Salt-N-Pepa was about a much different topic than I am turning it into. You see, I am staying on topic with cards. Not,well, what they were talking about. This newest segment about the 90's will focus on my set chases (the ones I have already used for a Origins Post or don't plan on using) and new additions to them along with updates on how far I have gotten.

It's time for us to sit down and have that discussion between your parents and you that you tried to avoid. You know, that conversation you have with them about the Flairs and the Pinnacles. Kids, it's time to Talk About Sets.

Today's sets talk is from my trade with @card_a_holic who I said caught my attention from having set needs for me.

So let's check out the sauciness today.

In 1995, Pro Line Classic had these great looking foil die cuts celebrating the Pro Bowl. I pulled quite a few of them and almost believe they were 1 per pack at the time. But, over the years things started to disappear and I was left with only a few. So time to build that up!

Sets Of My Childhood THE SERIES! Part 1:1995 Pro Line Pro Bowl

Welcome to the new series here on Sport Card Collectors!

I decided not only would I make a want list of each of the sets I am chasing in a tab, but I thought a little breakdown and feature may help get me more set help. I am sure many of the sets I am seeking are nickel and dime type of cards so I am hoping my trader friends can be on the lookout for any I don't have.

 

In 1995, Pro Line was a product that was easily available. I could find it in local craft shops and pharmacies. There was just a lot about Pro Line I enjoyed especially the 1995 version. The base set looked nice, it also had some fun parallels and the inserts were creative. But, none caught my eye like the 1995 Pro Bowl Die cut inserts. Something to do with the die cut and silver foil won me over.

The Pro Bowl cards are a 30 card set that fell 1 per retail box. So far I have only accumulated 8 out of the 30 so I have a long ways to go. 

My current haves are,

7,9,10, 11,21,22,27, and 30.

So I have many needs to go.

The Judge And His Jury

I recently won two contests both from people I have followed on Twitter a long time.

Up first, a 2,000 Twitter follower contest from @JunkWaxTwins who also runs the blog, vintagetwins.wordpress.com, for those who could guess how many relics/autos he has in his Twins collection. Even though I didn't win, he graciously awarded every contestant with a prize.

Mine had the following in it,

Jeets!

 

Soriano who was a favorite of mine. A-Rod made an appearance as well.

 

Some inserts from Opening Day including Tex. I didn't have any of these so they will make a new home in my insert binder.

 

I got Bipped! A well photographed Bip Roberts card. Even though I like what Topps is doing with MLB cards, I still miss what Upper Deck brought to the game.

 

And to finish up the mail day, a new Aaron Judge for my PC.

My next mail day was thanks to @GiraffeVenom who was hosting a Thursday Night Football contest. He surprised everyone when he picked two winners with myself being the second. I actually got the cards I wanted from the big lot that was being offered.

 

Up first for my unique memorabilia PC, a Pro Bowl jersey swatch of Broncos Chris Harris. I don't own a lot of Pro Bowl material relics so when I find them I try to add them.

 

Up next, an autograph for my rookie auto PC of Rashad Greene.

Sunday's With Rodney:1993 Upper Deck Pro Bowl

As most collectors know that read my blog, not only do I enjoy new Giants cards, but ones that are shiny are a bonus.

Randomly inserted at a rate of 1:25, this is a 15 card set that highlighted the top NFC and AFC participants in the previous years Pro Bowl.

At the time, the technology used on the card was new from Upper Deck. They called it their "Electric" printing technology. The card has a rainbow appeal that includes two different pictures, one big as the background and one thats inset into the card in the front.

As always, Upper Deck put out some incredible looking cards.

 

The back had the typical background from UD.

Panini's Fathers Day 12 Pack Break 2013-6 Hits!

Well, here are my results from 12 2013 Panini Father's Day packs. And I must say I am overly impressed. Last year I broke about the same amount and came home empty handed. This year...well...the odds favored me as I hit something 1 in every 2 packs!!!

Enough with me rambling..here are my amazing results!

I really enjoyed the base cards from the product. Brought me back a few years to when I first started collecting with the inclusions of Studio and Pinnacle. The other base design was well done as well.

 

 

I was stunned to say the least when I found a Ice of Anthony Davis to end all of my breaks. The Pro Bowl cards are pieces of Pylon. The Bernards are unique with The Knights Lance faded in the back drop. The Marshall Faulk I believe is a piece of shoe or glove. All of these are headed straight for the PC.

Once again, Panini did a great job with this years Father's Day promo. I look forward to 2014's.

FAVORITE CARD THURSDAY

I had to choose this card. It's a Panini Black Friday Pro Bowl jersey Card of Drew Brees. I find this card sweet in design, piece of jersey and just looks nice. You could find these in Black Friday packs. I bought it off from eBay. Another reason to post this card if the fact the NFL brought back the Pro Bowl for next season.
