Eli's Countdown 1055:2019 National Treasures Treasured Moments

The Eli's roll on!

The latest addition has been one I have wanted for five years.

But, prices were too steep and out of my reach.

However, one finally popped up cheap enough and I grabbed it.

My most wanted Eli's are the ones that include either Super Bowl victory because who knows if I will ever see any more Super Bowl wins in my lifetime.

I know you feel me there Giants fans.

Some Twitter Friends Are National Treasures

I have met some incredible giving friends on Twitter, one of those great guys is @DubMentality
who runs the Dub Mentality blog. Give it a read or a blogroll add if you haven't yet. Lot's of interesting content on there.

Anyways, I was tagged in a post early last week that instructed for me to contact @NickLcitycards
with my address so I can get the card he had just picked up for me from Nick's sale. I was thrown back because of his generosity and also because of the pretty sweet card he had picked up for me.

A 2016 Panini National Treasures dual memorabilia card of future Pro Bowlers Sterling Shepard and Paul Perkins.

And as an added surprise, Nick had tossed in this pretty slick Donruss Optic Rated Rookie parallels.

A big thanks goes out to Dub for picking up the sweet dual memorabilia card for me and another thanks to Nick for tossing in the extras. You can check them both out on Twitter and give em a follow click!

My NCAA Bracket Landed Me This....

Year in and year out, I always fill out an NCAA March Madness bracket and the same results happen, my bracket gets busted, annihilated, ceases to exist.

But, this year was much different.

For the second or third year in a row, I decided to join the BCW Supplies March Madness contest held on CBS Sports. The Top 4 win a prize. I never expected to win but thought it would be fun to at least try. Free entry in, might as well.

I also must mentioned I haven't watched a basketball game all year or in ten years, pro or college, so what I was running on to do my picks was hearsay. In the end, I chose Gonzaga to face off vs North Carolina for it all and with NC taking home the trophy. That wasn't an easy pick as growing up I was a die hard Duke fan and deep inside I still am. I just don't watch the games anymore.

Anyways, it seems my picks were decent this year. After the 64 games were played, I found myself sitting at 38th place. Then 32 games, I was at 15th, then at Sweet 16 I had moved to 8th. Elite 8 got me back to 14th and then I pulled off a miracle moving up to 5th place going into the Final 4. It appeared by my predicted score I was going to at least pull off a top 4 finish. But, after the teams got narrowed down to 2, I found myself tied for first! Then when NC took home the title and my score not being too far off, I found myself winning the BCW tournament.

Yes, winning.

And that meant I had scored some pretty sweet prizes that included supplies....

And a sick National Treasures autograph of Oscar Robertson. I didn't know the card was a 1/1 til it was in-hand which made the victory even sweeter.

Overall, I am not only very pleased with how my bracket turned out, but my prize. I never in a million years expected to finish in the Top 4, not to mention winning it all. I didn't even pay attention to the prizes at the beginning because I just knew.

A thanks goes out to BCW Supplies for the contest prize. Make sure you enter all of their contests and give them a follow on all social media sites.

Thoughts on my prize and how your bracket was this year are welcomed in comments!

NYG Week Part 6:Replacing A Redemption #2

Today is part 2 of my redemption replacement and kicks off Day #6 of NYG week. A week leading up to the Giants opening day game vs Dallas that comes up tomorrow at 4 pm.

Today's redemption replacement was of a 2012-2013 Panini Brilliance Jim Jackson autograph.

I think I did much better than that....
My first NFL Gear jersey signature from National Treasures. Very nice looking card with an on-card autograph making this card #87 in my Andre Williams PC.

Thoughts on my redemption replacements are welcomed in comments or any comments in general are welcomed.

Giants week comes to an end tomorrow for kickoff Sunday. Not sure what card I will post, but I gotta top the week off somehow.

90's Niche Football Card Blog Trade Countdown Card # 1

The final card from my trade with 90's Niche Football Card Blog, was no other than this beyond epic piece of cardboard sugar candy.....

Even if you're not a Giants fan like myself, you have gotta appreciate this piece of cardboard. Sick patch, on-card auto and a great design.

I sometimes imagine how far the Giants would have gone if the career ending neck injury hadn't happened to  David. Dude was fun to watch when the ball was in his hands and I can only imagine what that offense would look like with him running the ball/ kick returns and having OBJ catching it. Double back flipping in the end zone for sure. Maybe I even would have attempted it to...well...maybe.

Thoughts on today's card is welcomed. Or if you can't type because you are too much in a trance, well, I will try to mind read them instead.

Thanks for checking it out!

Topps+MLB=2020

I see every hobby blogger and everyone on Twitter and Facebook have commented on the forever marriage of Topps and an exclusive MLB license so I thought I would take my turn on it.

First off, I hold nothing against Topps. They have been in the baseball card business forever and it would seem weird if they didn't have a license, I just don't like the exclusive licensing.

I think exclusive licensing in the hobby really hurts it. And you can't tell me that some of us wouldn't have loved to see Upper Deck (who did manage to grab a MLBPA license in breaking news yesterday) bring back some of their classic baseball products.:

We all know Upper Decks track record of great MLB products and how great would Fleer Retro baseball (planned for a MLBPA release) look in MLB uniforms??? Upper Deck always did great things with baseball cards.

Or what about Panini? A company who has taken their MLBPA license and have taken products to the next level. How about giving them a shot at a MLB license? I think they have done more than enough to prove they deserve a shot at it. Just look at their sold out National Treasures and Prizm products.

Panini America 2012 National Treasures Baseball Modern Marvels (11)

If Panini was to get a MLB license we would see great Donruss products again. Who wouldn't enjoy Rated Rookies and Donruss Elite and Rookies and Stars in MLB cards again?

I am not saying Topps shouldn't make MLB baseball cards, I just think we need someone else making them as well. Hopefully in 2021 MLB will make a big decision and let someone else join in on the MLB fun.

What are your thoughts on this and which company do you think should get a shot at a license with Topps?

Panini Redemption mailday..part 2: Panini's CS is the Bomb!

If you don't remember us getting a redemption mail day a few weeks ago here is the link:

http://sportcardcollectors.blogspot.com/2012/04/nice-panini-redemption-mail-day.html

In the write up we question the value of the card we got in return compared to the one we were supposed to get. After some research...we found the values were not equal. So I called Panini CS and this is what they mailed me to make up the loss. They mailed this card out and it got to me within 3 days! John Taylor National Treasures Ring of Honor autograph numbered to 50. I thought it definitely made up for the value.

Panini's customer service continues to improve and with that being one of their former weak spots...the company now is rising even higher to me as the best. I am not the only one who is thinking so. I have seen a lot of compliments recently on their improving customer service.

How do you feel about them? Have you had a good or bad experience recently with them? Let us know in comments!

A nice Panini Redemption mail day!

I had called and got a redemption card replaced. My original card was supposed to be a Asante Samuel Panini Certified prime signature materials card numbered to 25. They replaced it with this Ausin Pettis National Treasures auto/patch rookie card numbered to 99. Not too bad of a trade off. I just hope it's equal value. Will have to wait til the next Beckett comes out. But either way, it's a nice card!

What do you guys think?
