Some Giant Adds!

As long as you didn't read my blog post title too fast, you would see that I have some Giant adds recently and not anything related to the Kardashians title you may have seen.

All of today's cards came via trade.
Hall Of Famer Michael Strahan jersey card came via a trade with Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame.

Same with this Ottis Anderson autograph. I should see how many of these I have now.

I stared at this Phil Simms autograph for weeks that someone had for trade on Twitter. I wanted to bite, but didn't think I could pull it off...but obviously I did. This is only my second autograph of Simms in my collection.

Along with the Simms tagged this Darius Slayton Optic Stars parallel. Really cool looking card.

I was pretty happy about adding these thicc cards. Yes, that may have been a joke bounced off from my opening line for today's post.

Thoughts on my cards welcomed in comments!

Rodney's Cardboard:2023 Panini Absolute Historic Duals Red Ottis Anderson/Rodney Hampton Autograph /75

Today marks the final run on the 2023 Absolute Historic Duals that I have so far. It's not too many and most of my focus has been on the bigger numbered cards as those fell cheaper.

Other than the 1/1, the /10 and the /25 have popped up once and both left my grasp. Hopefully they will re-appear. I have yet to see the Purple /5.

But, let's take a look at a card I have seen and own today :)

This card is the Red version which is numbered to 75. I guess you can consider this a team color parallel as well.

Back of the card is the usual Panini backing.

Here is the overall look at the chase so far.

Historical Duals Black 1
Historical Duals Purple 5
Historical Duals Gold 10
Historical Duals Green 25
Historical Duals Blue 35
Historical Duals Orange 50
Historical Duals Red 75
Historical Duals 199

As I said above, had to focus on the easier ones first.

Stay tuned for new Rodney posts to come!

As bright as the sun, today's Rodney Hampton is shining through!

This was the first card in the run I acquired for my chase.

The card is the Orange version which is numbered to 50.

Back of the card is the usual Panini backing.

Rodney's Cardboard:2023 Panini Absolute Historic Duals Ottis Anderson/Rodney Hampton Autograph /35

Today's Rodney Hampton is probably going to be my favorite of the chase, especially since the 1/1 is gone. It's a blue parallel which is team color match especially with their players jerseys on the card being blue as well.

The blue version is numbered to 35.

Back of the card is the usual Panini backing.

Here is the overall look at the chase. The 1/1 had already popped up and I missed it. But at least I can just chase what I can and hopefully someday the 1/1 will come back.

Historical Duals Gold 10
Historical Duals Green 25
Historical Duals Blue 35

Stay tuned for a couple more of these!

Rodney's Cardboard:2023 Panini Absolute Historic Duals Ottis Anderson/Rodney Hampton Autograph /199

One of the bigger surprises to my Rodney Hampton chase this football card season was not only his inclusion in Absolute, but his inclusion in Absolute with another NY Giants running back legend.

That running back, Ottis Anderson.

The problem with adding Anderson to this card is the prices of these Rodney's have gone haywire because of him. Meaning, these cost more than they should.

But I have landed a few from the chase so far.
I am kicking it off with the base version which is numbered to 199.

Back of the card is the usual Panini backing.

Giants Cardboard: Some Firsts

A lot of my NY Giants knowledge beyond 1995 is very blurry and iffy at best. It's something I need to work harder on and study more to extend my knowledge of my favorite team.

Another thing I need to work harder on is adding cards of Giants from the past and not so many of the present. Needs to have a better balance.

So when I was checking out Burbank Sportscards, I came across a couple autographs of Giants legends that I didn't get to watch myself but got to see highlights of and knew I needed autographs of.

Ottis Anderson was a 2X Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP, Rookie Of The Year in 1979 and a comeback player of the year. In a long line of Giants legendary running backs he doesn't get mentioned as much as he should for playing like he did.

The next guy up was a beast at the Tight End spot.

Not only does Mark Bavaro have an excellent signature, but he was also a 2X Super Bowl Champion, 2X Pro Bowl tight end (an actual one and not one like Evan Engram) and a 2X All-Pro. He also has a spot in the NY Giants Ring Of Honor.

Up next was a guy who helped show the Way for Rodney Hampton
Charles Way was a full back for the Giants from 1995-1999. I had always wanted his autograph card and remember specifically seeing one at a card show in 1997 that I desperately wanted and couldn't afford. Fast forward to now, that card is now in my possession for less than $3.

And there was no Way I was done with adding another cool Charles Way card.
1997 Flair Showcase Legacy parallels were randomly inserted in packs but were not easy to find or pull. I never once pack pulled one and only own now two in my entire collection.

These parallels were /100.

Adding those two Charles Way cards had me itching to maybe add more of his cards as well. He helped Rodney a lot of yards so you could possibly call it a sub PC of Rodney's. Stay tuned for that.

Some nice affordable adds from from Burbank Sportscards Beckett Marketplace (also saved 10% by using code 15Burbank which I suggest you use) that I look forward to shopping more on there to add more to these collections.
