#SCC5YR Panini Prize Pack Winner!

I wanna thank everyone who turned out for both of the contests and the sponsors who helped provide prizes for both. I will admit I am a bit disappointed by the turnout of this contest as only a few people even entered it. I says 49 comments, but if you look at the amount of participants and those who entered daily, it narrows it down to a sad number.

Well, the way I look at it, it's their loss and someone elses gain. The biggest surprise of the contest, was the winner. Not only did they enter their guess second out of everyone, but they are also first time winners. So that's exciting.

Nuttin' But The Hits:2014 Panini Country Music

Okay, I have said this before and I will say it again, I am not a fan of country music in any kind of way. However, Country Music cards, oh yes!

Especially for a product you can get 4 hits with at least 2 autographs per box, 5 inserts and 2 parallels for the price of a blaster and you can find big names in these to. Oh, did I mention autograph silhouettes as well. EPIC. I could bust this stuff all day.

This is my second break of this product. My first went better, but for the price, I am not complaining at all with whatever I get.

Up first, my two numbered silver parallels along with my first Darius Rucker base card. We all know Rucker from Hootie fame. Speaking of Hootie in this product, stay tuned for another card I am posting in the future.....

The hits are well designed and very colorful. You can land some pretty nice multi-color swatches.

The autographs are sticker, but still cool.

I even landed a silver /49 version.

 

Like I stated earlier, not a bad break for the cost and I hope to bust more down the road.

REVIEW:2017 Donruss Racing Box 1

With NASCAR season under full swing, what better timing then to bust a box of new NASCAR cards. I have always been a fan of the Donruss brand the last few years across many sports as the value per box has always been solid, the parallels are sharp and the cost per box is reasonable for collectors of all ages.

Now it's NASCAR's turn to see what Donruss is like and I had double the chance to see how it is. Just as an early overall view, I was impressed. So let's see why....

In every box of 2017 Donruss Racing, there are 24 Packs Per Box with 10 Cards Per Pack. Each Box contains One Autograph, Two Memorabilia Cards, Twelve Inserts, and Seven Parallels so it's pretty loaded for a box costing roughly $65 per.

 

The base set is similar to the design for the other sports which works here. There are photos of racers and their cars built into the mulit-level 181 card base set.

The base set kicks off with Race Kings, you know versions of Diamond Kings for baseball. I included a parallel in this pic as well. Race Kings takes up the first 27 cards. I didn't plan this out to well when I took the pictures for the base set. Anyways, they have parallels like the base cards of Gold Foil #/499, Blue Foil /299, Green Foil /199, Gold Press Proof /99, Press Proof /49, Artist Proof /25, and Printing Plates 1/1

 

Then those are followed by the Rated Rookies which aren't too easy to pull falling roughly 2-per box. These take up the next 10 cards. Classic design as well with the logo.

 

Then comes the regular base part of the set.These go on until card 136 with both portrait and landscape cards.

 

 

The final part of the base set is built with a throwback design to 84 Donruss in which I included base card parallels in this picture as well. I didn't plan this out to well when I took the pictures for the base set. Anyways, they have parallels like the base cards of Gold Foil #/499, Blue Foil /299, Green Foil /199, Gold Press Proof /99, Press Proof /49, Artist Proof /25, and Printing Plates 1/1

 

 

And just like with other Donruss releases, there are base card variations that are name ones or nickname ones I should say. The numbers on the back of the card are the same.

 

But the photos like this one of J.J. or Jimmy Johnson are slightly different. You will find these backwards in packs and falling about 4 per box so not too rare. There are 19 cards to find with parallels of Gold Foil #/499, Blue Foil /299, Green Foil /199, Gold Press Proof /99, Press Proof /49, Artist Proof /25, and Printing Plates 1/1

Speaking of parallels, here are the base cards ones I found in my box besides the ones I listed above. Once again they are, Gold Foil #/499, Blue Foil /299, Green Foil /199, Gold Press Proof /99, Press Proof /49, Artist Proof /25, and Printing Plates 1/1. I pulled a Press Proof /49 in this group.

 

The inserts in the product have common themes with other Donruss releases that helps you feel right at home.

I was kinda curious by this Donruss Classics insert throw in and was wondering if this was a preview of something later on this year. 

Overall, there are a ton of inserts to chase all with Cracked Ice parallels /999. Those look spectacular.

 

Top Tier and Call To the Hall helps celebrate top racers.

 

I like the design of this insert. Well done.

 

We all should recognize this name in Dominator. A Donruss stand-bye for years.

 

Now onto the hits that all have parallels of Holo Gold /99 or /25, and Holo Black /10 or less.

You can find relics. You can find autographs. You can find autograph relics. So let's see how I did.

My first pull was a cool Rubber Relic of Kasey Kahne. The design is really well done on these. I love the overall layout with the car in the background and racer in the forefront. It's all well balanced and the swatch is a pretty nice one. These are also extremely thick.

 

My second pull was a Tony Stewart Rubber Relic. Another nice one and one that I would had loved to landed back when I was a huge Stewart collector.

 

And my auto from the box is of Legendary Richard Petty done in the 1984 design.

Other hits not found in my box are, Rubber Relics Signatures, Dual Rubber Relic, Retro Relic and Retro Signatures which features an iconic Donruss throwback design.Signature Series, and Significant Signatures.

Overall, I was really happy with this break. Once again Donruss provided with not only a fun break, which I looked forward to busting every pack of, but also some fairly nice hits. I think this is a great way to kick off the NASCAR season and left me wanting more. Luckily I had a second box to bust to showcase the hits of tomorrow which by the way stay tuned for a biggie.

I didn't quite know how Panini would handle NASCAR cards after I was so impressed with what Press Pass put out. But, it seems they are handling it just fine so far if they keep putting out winners like this one.

REVIEW:2016-2017 Panini Limited Basketball

It has been a couple of years since I have busted any form of Limited so it was refreshing to see it once again. This time around the word limited is really put to use with all hits being numbered to 99 or less. So none of that high numbered stuff will be found in here.

Limited over the years has been toyed when it comes to amount of cards and hits per pack and what those hits and cards per pack are. 

So let's see how it went shall we?

In every box of 2016-2017 Limited basketball is one pack with 8 cards. Boxes should have two Autographed Memorabilia or Memorabilia cards per box (at least one auto/mem). Boxes are running a bit high at $90 per so it's a bit of a gamble and from reviews I have seen, it truly is.

The base card set is built up of 100 players of today with stars and vets. It's not too shabby of a looking base set and the base cards are a tad thicker than usual. Kind of reminds me of Panini's Momentum.

Rookies in the product fall card numbers 101-140 and are all memorabilia/auto cards. There is also cards 141-150 which are base card Sp's in the set that includes big names like Lebron and Ben Simmons.

Key Rookies in the autograph memorabilia part of the set are Dario Saric, Malcolm Brogdon, Buddy Hield, and Brandon Ingram.

As with most products today, there are parallels to chase in the base set to. There is Red Spotlight /99, Silver Spotlight /49, Gold Spotlight /25, Emerald Spotlight /15, and Platinum Spotlight 1/1.I Pulled a nice Silver of Chris Paul here: the only thing that separates it from the base besides the numbering is the silver in the names.

Onto the inserts or insert I should say.

Here is what a Limited Rookies insert looks like. To me these should have been apart of the base set from the appearance. It's also a little disappointing these aren't numbered at all. They do have parallels that are including Emerald Spotlight /15 and Platinum Spotlight 1/1

There are other inserts to find including the extremely tough one-per-case find in No Limits. Other inserts have the same parallels as well.

Time to show off the hits!

First one is a decent size swatch of Isaiah Whitehead from the Unlimited memorabilia set.

My second is the autograph memorabilia card of Dwight Powell. It's a Phenoms /99 with a little color in the memorabilia. I think the design looks nice despite the sloppy lazy auto. I am also a bit confused on why the players name isn't on the front of the card. At least I couldn't find it. I had to look on the back.

Other hits not found in my box include, DECADE DOMINANCE MATERIALS, PREPARATION PRIME, UNLIMITED POTENTIAL PRIME, LIMITED JERSEY SIGNATURES PRIME, PHENOMS JERSEY AUTOGRAPHS SUPER PRIME, ROOKIE PHENOMS JERSEY AUTOGRAPHS PRIME, ROOKIE JERSEY AUTOGRAPHS SILVER SPOTLIGHT, ROOKIE JERSEY AUTOGRAPHS GOLD SPOTLIGHT, and ROOKIE JERSEY AUTOGRAPHS PLATINUM SPOTLIGHT. So some good stuff to find if you are lucky.

Overall, this was a bit of a rough break for the cost. It's not that the cards don't look nice, but I didn't feel there was enough in here to warrant value back. I think another autograph such as a guaranteed rookie would have helped. But, like I say with every break because that's the rule, anything is a gamble. It just feels the products with the least amount of cards per box are the toughest and easiest to spot when it happens.

Nuttin But The Hits:2012-2013 Panini Brilliance Basketball

This edition of Nuttin But The Hits is my first basketball edition. One that comes courtesy of a Twitter Guess The Rebound contest from @SCCTradingCards. 

Each of these boxes come with three hits, one jersey card and two autographs and run roughly $40 per box. Some good rookies to find so I am hoping to hit it big.

Let's break this bad boy!.

There were a ton of base cards and a good amount of inserts. These were the best of the best. Can't go wrong adding some Anthony Davis rookies.

Pulled an Artist Proof parallel and almost missed it. You tell me if you would see this in a pack without having to look, once, twice, or even three times at it to see it. These are numbered /10 so it's def a tough pull. Mines a rookie card of Kyle Singler. (may also be the best pull of the box, but I will let you guys decide that)

My first hit. Marc Gasol jersey card.

My next auto is of James Johnson who I have honestly never heard of.

And my final hit of the box is a Jim Jackson autograph redemption which will look like the card above. I have sent in a request to Panini to redeem it even though it's outdated. Hoping I can exchange it as well for something for my PC.

REVIEW: 2016 Donruss Baseball

One of my favorite revives Panini has done, Donruss baseball comes packed with surprises at a reasonable price. Why do I feel this way, well, you are gonna have to read on!

In every box of 2016 Donruss baseball are 24 Packs with 8 Cards Per Pack. You should find Three Autographs or Memorabilia Cards Per Box with a chance at finding the rare San Diego Chicken relic and autograph cards. Boxes run about $65.

There are 150 base cards in the set. The base set is a bit bland in design, but I think it's because Panini can't use logos. In that case, I would love some throwback designs instead of using the throwbacks for inserts. Sort of like Heritage does.

The checklist is built of stars of today and yesterday. Find names like Pedro..

And my boy Ken Griffey Jr!

There are base card Sp's as well. I pulled this one of MVP Josh Donaldson. Not sure the odds on these but I found a visual showcase of them on Cardboard Connection, HERE.

Every pack you should find a Rated Rookie, 1982 Design and possibly an insert or parallel.

Rated Rookies bring top talent from the 2016 rookie class including Kyle Schwarber. You can also find new parallels to 2016 with the addition Black Borders, Pink Borders, Test Proofs of one-of-one Printing Plates. I found Corey Seager in my box. My first rookie of him.

Other fun Donruss inserts you can find. Diamond Kings, Masters Of The Game, The Rookies and The Prospects.

Here are a couple of the base card parallels. Ripken is a black /199 and Rizzo is an unnumbered pink. I even found a blue border parallel from the USA baseball set.

Returning after a 10-year hiatus, the iconic Power Alley insert. Find the games top power hitters at two per
box, on average! My other in this box, Josh Donaldson.

Last year Panini highlighted 1981 Donruss and this year we turn to 1982. Find veteran and retired players in

striking poses at one per pack. Look for new Holometric and Holoflow parallels! I pulled a regular and pink one of Cal.

Here was one of my bigger pulls of the box, a black/white Test Proof /25 of Kris Bryant. This is a tough pull from the research I have done. These are just base cards turned a color in all reality. There are many versions of these with different numbering.

Two iconic Donruss inserts in Elite Series and Elite Dominator. Both add sparkle and shine to the product. Both are numbered as well.

More base card parallels. The Frazier is a silver one numbered to 35. All of these have different numbering.

And card number 151 in the set is of The Famous San Diego Chicken. Totally dig this tribute card of him in the product. Unique find.

Now onto the hits, which to me, I had fun without them. But I know it today's hobby most can't live without them.

Up first is a Back To The Future jersey card of Jeff Samardzija . These jersey cards take a look back at players in a former uniform. You can't tell from here, there is a nice size swatch involved.

Up next, an Ichiro Bat card. Nice looking card and is numbered to 49.

My lone autograph is Donruss Signature Series which takes me back to the late 90's. Nice looking card all around.

 

Overall, you would be INSANE if you didn't give this product a try. So much value packed in here for a such little cost. I would take this one over Topps flagship any day. Look at a box break of that for about the same cost of this one. Huge difference. I guess what turns people away is the fact there are no logos. If you can push yourself past that, you will be very happy. If not, you are really missing out on a winner here.

All I know is, it left me wanting more.
