That 90's Mail Day: 1997 Spx Football Completion!

FINALLY were the first words out of my mouth when I was able to finish up my 1997 Spx football set. I must say though, I wouldn't have been able to do it without my friends over at Jammin JDcards who helped research and find someone who had everything that I needed. So thanks Jammin!

Here are the final ten cards I needed to finish up my set.

Not a lot of big names in here but definitely some pretty sweet looking cards.

So far in my 90's Spx collection, I have now completed the Spx 1996 football set, got the Dan Marino and Joe Montana inserts and autographs from 1996, and have half a 1996-1997 hockey set and now have this 1997 football set. Who knows where I will go next!

As always, your thoughts are welcomed on this mail day!

That 90's Mail Day: Another 40 Card Pickup!

Recently, I picked up a 40 card rookie lot and mentioned in the article about going back for more. Well, luckily the previous listers had one more lot up for grabs and once again I stole it for $5.99 and once again it was another great mixed lot.

I know as well as you do, nobody wants to read someone rambling on. I must note first that below is only 34 cards pictured. This time knowing this is a 90's only exclusive blog I took out the newer stuff. The other cards in this lot will be featured on here as cards of the week!

Now it's time to review the goods!

Ahman Green was a beast!

My favorite part of the lot. Ex Jake Plummer rookie card, Tyrone Wheatley Red Siege parallel, Charlie Batch insert..sweet looking stuff!

Tyrone Wheatley Sp rookie card and a pretty photogenic UD Marvin Harrison rookie:

Overall, I was once again really happy with the results from this lot. I would definitely go back and buy more if they ever list more. The cards have decent value, the designs and variety are nice, but the memories is what is most important to me.

That 90's Mail Day: Jammin JDcards 1997 Spx Set Numbers

Well, as you know from many posts on here about the product, I am a huge Spx fan. Especially between the years of 1996-1998 when they combined color, micro-etching and a huge hologram. But, recently when buying a box of the product, you can see that break on this blog, I didn't get a complete set of base cards. Knowing that I now had 1996 football complete, I had to have 1997 as well. So I went on a hunt to find my missing ones and my first thought was to hit up Jammin JDcards, who themselves just broke a box.

Luckily Jammin JDcards had some that I needed they were selling on their SITE. Here are six more to my set including a key Brett Favre:

Now I am only missing about 10 that I will need to hunt down elsewhere but I will not stop til I am finished and when I find them, I will show them off on here.

As always, comments are encouraged on this mail day.

That 90's Mail Day: Another 1996 Spx Football BIGGIE!!!!

Well, in this edition of That 90's Mail Day I brought home another beauty! This time its a HUGE ADD to my 1996 Spx  football collection. Awhile back I had made a trade with Jonathan Hoffman in which I acquired my first round of cards to be apart of my 1996 Spx football family. Since then I have made additions to it myself. But, I didn't quite have enough money to pull of the other "biggie" in the product. That's when I thought, why not trade for it and who better to trade with than my buddy Jonathan.

So I contacted Jonathan about making this kind of move and he was excited to. So not only would he add more cards to his Frank Thomas PC and his Pittsburgh Pirates PC, but I would add the one card I wanted. We both would be extremely happy. So we found away and pulled off the deal and here is the new member of my 1996 Spx family...A STINKIN BEAUTIFUL 1996 Spx Upper Deck Dan Marino Record Breaker AUTOGRAPH!!!
With this Marino autograph now added, I have gotten all that I wanted from this product completing the base set, getting both the Montana and Marino inserts, then finishing it up with the Montana and Marino autographs! If I wanted to go a little further, I would need to add the gold parallel set and the Holofame insert set. Time can only tell if I will go that far.

As always, thoughts on my chase for Spx 1996 football greatness is appreciated and thoughts on today's mail day is great as well!

That 90's Mail Day: 1996 Spx Upper Deck Joe Montana Tribute Insert

In this edition of That 90's Mail Day, I brought home another beauty! This time it adds to my 1996 Spx  football collection.

In past blog posts, I wrote about completing the 1996 Spx Football set, then picking up the terrific Joe Montana autograph. Now I was needing to add the Joe Montana and Dan Marino inserts then somehow pull off the Dan Marino autograph from this set as well to try and own it all. Technically, to own it all, I would need the entire gold set and HoloFame inserts as well, but I just want to get the above cards for my collection for now.

So, for now, I was able to add one of my needed cards...welcome to the family 1996 Spx Upper Deck Joe Montana Tribute card!

Scratches are on the plastic, not the card
With this Montana card now added, the Marino insert yesterday, that makes me only one card from greatness! Will I be able to add that Dan Marino autograph to my collection? Time can only tell....will it tell a story tomorrow?

As always, thoughts on my chase for Spx 1996 football greatness is appreciated and thoughts on today's mail day would be great as well!

That 90's Mail Day: INSERTS GALORE Sent From A Friend!

I have mentioned this before, but sometimes you just run into great people/collectors on Twitter and Facebook. I have also mentioned this before as well, one of them is a guy named Tim Yount. I have known Tim for a few years now through Facebook and Twitter and have come to know him as a long distance friend. In the last few months we have been sending each other packages of cards that we knew the other would like and not long ago a package arrived with some tremendous stuff in it including 90's inserts!! You all know I am all over that.

However, before showing you the 90's part of the gallery, I also wanted to make note that the other half of Tim's package contained many new NY Giants cards, a Jose Abreu Bowman Prospect card, a Masahiro Tanaka Bowman rookie card and a couple jersey cards. Those cards will be featured as upcoming or previous Cards Of The Week so check them out then!

Now onto this sweet gallery of 90's awesomeness:

Was always a fan of dufex technology as shown in the Mueseum Collection card below:

Some great 90's baseball cards here including two Michael Jordan's!

NBA always had some superb inserts. One of my favorites below is the Hardwood Leader design:

Here are some serious goodies! Really like the UD Predictor of Keyshawn and the Broadway Review of Jim Harbaugh. I have always been a huge fan of Action Packed as well and adding that unique silver foil card of Bledsoe I have never seen before was a great addition to the 90's PC.
Once again, thank you Tim for this mind blowing mail day and comments on this mail day are always appreciated!

That 90's Mail Day: Kevin Garnett 10 Card Lot

I have found a new love of searching for card lots on eBay especially when you can get one for a steal and that's what I did right here. This 10 card lot of Kevin Garnett came with an insert, 4 rookie cards and a bunch of memories all for $2.99. Now that's a steal.

Here are the 10 cards I got in the lot:

Pretty cool huh? I think so. I had traded away my Garnett rookie a few years ago and have been needing one since, now I have four.

Let me know your thoughts on this mail day!

That 90's Mail Day: The J.Hoffman Trade Part 3: EPIC AUTOGRAPH!

Awhile back I had made a trade with Jonathan Hoffman in which I acquired some pretty sweet stuff, you can find that article right HERE, well, after much delay, now is the time to reveal the final part of it.

We are finally down to the best card out of my trade and it is absolutely a beauty and is mind blowing. If you remember, I posted an article about a Barry Sanders card that made me cry and here is why. Well, fast forward almost 20 years and I finally have come to a resolution...I have traded for that card I wanted so many years ago and here it is....THE ONE....THE ONLY..... 1996 SPX JOE MONTANA UPPER DECK TRIBUTE AUTOGRAPH:

WOWZA! WHAT A CARD!! I can't take my eyes off from it most days. If it wasn't for this huge trade with Jonathan, this dream card never would have been made an reality. Thanks again Jonathan! Now I just need to get myself the autographed Dan Marino one to match!

I also may try and get a round-a-bout complete 1996 Spx football collection.  I just need the Joe Montana Tribute insert along with the Dan Marino Record Breaker one and obviously the Marino Auto. I don't think I will aim for all of the gold parallels or the Holofame Collection but you never know!

I plan on keeping you guys updated on my search for my next pieces I want. In the meantime, take a minute and comment with your thoughts on this mail day!

That 90's Mail Day: The J.Hoffman Trade Part 2

Awhile back I had made a trade with Jonathan Hoffman in which I acquired some pretty sweet stuff, you can find that article right HERE, well, after much delay, now is the time to reveal the rest of it!

Next up, is roughly a half set of 1996-1997 Spx Hockey. As you can tell by now, I am completely addicted to the design of this product no matter the sport. Check out this gallery below! I must note before you view, that this lot came with 47 cards but there were many doubles and in some cases triples so I thought I would just narrow it down a little.

Overall, pretty sweet. Now I just need to find a way to finish the set and you know I will find a way to do so.

Well, you have seen two of the hidden parts that I got from this trade but there is still one more to go and I promise you that one is one HUGE BEST CARD IN MY COLLECTION MAIL DAY! It will be well worth the wait!

First up, is a 1996 Spx Football set. Below is all 50 cards in this beautiful set. If you haven't ever seen it, just let your eyes look below this:

I cannot get enough of it. The blend of being a die-cut card, with hologram and a touch of player color just looks amazing. The pictures on this blog don't even come close to doing it justice but I hope you get the idea. If you have seen these in person you will totally get what I am talking about. If you haven't ever seen these in person, I strongly recommend you hitting eBay right now and pick some up!

You thoughts on this mail day are welcomed!

That 90's Mail Day: 1997 Goudey Football Lot

When scrolling through card lots on eBay, I always search for something 90's in the title knowing that for one, it will be cheaper, two, will bring back many memories and should look fantastic in my collection. When I found this lot of 1997 Goudey Football, that covered both areas.

For $1.47, I think I got a great steal. Let me know your thoughts as you view on!

Even some rookie cards were found in this lot. Corey Dillion, Warrick Dunn and Jake "The Snake" Plummer!
Overall a ton of value and I really like the design of the cards. Very bright and throwback.

Let me know your thoughts on my mail day and the design of these cards!

That 90's Mail Day: NBA Rookie Card Style

In today's edition of That 90's Mail Day, I was searching for good deals on rookie cards when I stumbled on this lot with two stars (even teammates) for only $2.99. It was a steal in my eyes!

Now onto the eye candy!

Steve Nash Hoops 1996-1997

And this awesome Kobe Bryant Fleer 1996-1997
It was a great mail day with two cards that will be heading straight for my PC. I would enjoy to hear your thoughts on this mail day as well.

That 90's Mail Day: 40 Card Pickup!

Recently I have picked up a few things on eBay that I wanted to share with you guys on here. One of the first things that caught my attention was this 40 rookie card lot and I think you will see why once you view the gallery.

Before showcasing you this lot, I must note that I only paid $5.99 for it with free shipping. I found great joy in remembering these cards and sifting through this lot when it arrived. I also really liked the value here as well.

Now onto the goods!

Rookie cards of Ty Law and Stephen Davis!

Always liked the design and feel of the 1995 Fleer NFL Prospect cards and this is Wheatley! Even better! As you will see, some newer cards were mixed in as well.

Drew Bledsoe rookie and a very iconic card picture in my mind...the Shawn "Springs" Topps Chrome rookie

The design for 1996 Playoff Absolute as shown below of Marvin Harrison is pretty cool!

One of my favorites all-time is the Ex design on these. Just plain beauty's!

Sweet Corey Dillion Topps Chrome rookie, Stephen Davis Sp rookie (these were hard to keep in mint and this one arrived so) a Marshall Faulk Elite Series insert and a Torry Holt rookie insert
This was a very impressive lot. I liked the brand variety in this lot. To be honest I wanted more and luckily the ones who sold these lots had one more which I did get for the same price but I will be saving that baby for another time.

Let me know your thoughts on this mail day!
