BASE CARDS: Panini's double rookie class picks up excitement with the rookie year release of Prizm Hockey. Seems like a lot of rookie in this product to me :) Last year the only way to get Prizm hockey was by buying Panini Rookie Anthology and like we all suspected at that time it was only the beginning trailer in what will become a classic movie.
The base card design is just as impressive as baseballs. I do like the added ROOKIE writing on the front of the rookie cards. And speaking of rookie cards, this product is PACKED with them due to the double rookie class.
There are 200 cards in the base set and 100 rookies making it 300 sweet whopping cards to collect!
But, to me, it's not really about the regular inserts. It's about the Prizms. You will find about three per box. We lucked out and got a fourth one that's the orange, hobby only, die cut parallel numbered to 50. One of those seems to be falling one per box. There are also Gold Prizms (numbered to 10) and Finite Black Prizms (numbered to only one) to search for as well. And just like with the 2013 baseball version, the work Prizm appears with the card set number to tell you that it's a parallel.
There are 125 base autographs with a lot of the players being short printed or super short printed and 74 rookie autographs to chase.
JERSEY/PATCH CARDS:(N/A) though I wished!!
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Panini's dual rookie class rookie debut of Prizm is great. Nice design, fun parallels. And this years product is a great one to start out with because it's rookie packed and we all know this hobby is about the rookie card!
You should do very well in a box and one of the fun parts of Prizm is looking through your packs for the Prizm parallels..which colors will you pull?
I opened 2 boxes yesterday, I got 4 Autos, all of which came from the Rookie Auto inserts, unfortunately none were the big names. I did however pull an orange Prizm Die Cut Martin Brodeur, 2 Net Defenders, 4 Pivotal Players(one of which was also an orange Prizm) a gold Prizm Rookie, 1 Initial Impressions, 2 Immortalized. I also received just 10 doubles of the base set, and I think 2 double rookies, so the lack of overlap was also very nice.
