Nuttin' But The Hits:2012 Upper Deck USA Football

I have said this repeatedly on here, UD USA football is a very underrated product. Yes, every box may pack names you have never heard of, but the word that I haven't added to finish that sentence is, yet.

These are names of the future and ones you could be seeing become pro within a few years. Just look at names like Todd Gurley and Jameis Winston that you can find in the inaugural 2012 edition. Which is why I took the $20 risk on busting this set.

2012 was the only year that Upper Deck put the product as a straight up set with hits. They now come as packs and the 2016 edition only as ePacks which is disappointing to me as I won't see any of it.

The 2012 set came packing with at least 8 hits per set. You should find 1-2 Autographs, 5 Game-Used Memorabilia Cards, and 1 Patch Card in each box for $20!! You could hit Jameis or Gurley for that!!!

Every box set contains all 49 USA Football team members plus one checklist car along with the 8 hits. Seems like a steal to me. This is my second break of it. My first went great hitting a Jameis memorabilia card and nailing a 1/1 printing plate. Let's see break 2!

Sweet patch! Forgot to mention the nice patches you can find.

My autos. The base set looks like this to. Very sharp.

Well, break 2 didn't provide the big names....yet.

Let me know in comments your thoughts on my break and the product as a whole.

Mail Day Saturday:Contest Win From Twitter

I am trying to do my best to catch up on these mail days and didn't want to push this thank you off for another week, so you guys will be blessed with a double feature of Mail Day Saturday today.

@JGfan24ever on Twitter was hosting a contest to win this Upper Deck USA Football autograph and I am a biter on contests like that. I have always been a huge fan of USA Football product from Upper Deck and look at it as a prospecting product for future NFL rookies. Stars like Todd Gurley and Jameis Winston have come from it.

So finding out that I was the winner of the card I was pretty excited.

The card is of LB Shyheim Stephens. Last data I could check he is a LB at Syracuse.

Being the great guy that @JGfan24ever is, he also tossed a couple of extra freebies.

A new Griffey here,

And a pretty sweet numbered Eli here from the Playoff product,

A big thanks goes out to Michael for the mail day. Great guy and one I suggest you follow if you are on Twitter.

Thoughts are welcomed below on the mail day!

Nuttin But The Hits:2015 Upper Deck USA Football

I have posted many times about this product. It's one that's packed with autographs of possible future NFL stars. So why not take a chance on this??

Each box comes with 12 hits with a combo of jersey, auto and patch cards. Boxes will run roughly $80.

Some of these guys sign great, other sign EZW lol.

Stricklin's signature is very similar to Rueben Randles...and he is a top recruit to Baylor

Some fun dual autos.

And they come with some pretty slick GAME USED patch cards. Normally I think one is jersey and one is patch per box. I got lucky that's all.

Overall, solid box break as always of this product. Hopefully someday I have found the next HOFer in these boxes. I have many players from a variety of years to keep an eye on.

What do you guys think of this break? Product?

Breakin Wax:2015 Upper Deck USA Football

Prospecting can be fun when you do it right. Choose the wrong player, well...

Baseball cards are full of prospecting mostly built around products like Bowman and Elite Extra Edition but can you think of one football prospecting product? No, you can't. But, that's why I am here to tell you there is one, it's called Upper Deck USA football. These are the future stars of tomorrow.

I have picked up some of this product every year since 2012 prospecting these football players for later on. Not to mention, it's a solid product too from top to bottom.

Why do I think that, read on!

In every box of 2015 Upper Deck USA football, you get 12 cards per pack and 18 packs per box. Each box has 12 hits in it. So technically, you are only opening up 6 packs that have nothing. I like those odds. Each box is, well, I can't find a price but I would have to assume in the $60-$80 range.

The base cards are simple. High gloss base cards with a border. There is a mix of USA and Canada players. The base set is made up of U-19, U-18 and U-17 USA Football teams as well as U-19 and U-18 Team Canada. There is 164-card base set, including 46 cards for USA U-19, 51 cards for USA U-18, 26 dual cards for USA U-17 and 41 cards for Team Canada U-18. Pretty evenly split. This year they didn't add as many Canada cards which I guess makes sense for a product marked USA football.

I do have one thing negative to say about this years base set, I don't like the white box at the bottom. Very much not something I am used to seeing from an Upper Deck base card. I know they were trying to do that for autographs, but I would prefer stickers here. I know, you can slap me now for saying that.

There are no inserts, so let's show off these hits! I think this EZW auto is quite unique. Same goes for PB. Hopefully they will learn to sign better as they go before they possibly hit pro.

There are some fun patch cards to find as well. Game worn too!

Lots of dual autographs. It feels like you get more than the 10 per box.

Overall, with this many hits how can you not call this a success especially for a prospecting product. I hope UD is able to continue to carry on with this product for future releases as I am a fan for sure.

How many of you have ever tried prospecting football?

UD USA Football eBay Mail Day

You ever just have one of those random buys, well, that's exactly what this was. I happened to have been on eBay searching for USA Football cards, I love the patch cards from this product, and stumbled on this 2012 jersey card for $1.04. I couldn't go wrong. This could be a future star.

Breakin Wax: 2014 Upper Deck USA Football 5-Pack Break

Since 2012, I have made sure to pick up some Upper Deck USA football. Why? Well, it's the only football prospecting product out there. This product consists of the top high schoolers in both Canada and the USA. Though I am a bit confused by Canada still being in a USA product. Should be two seperate. None-the-less, it's still a great bust.

Now you may be asking, why am I so high on USA football?  In the 2012 edition, it alone has possible NFL first round draft picks in 2015 with Jameis Winston (who could go number 1) and Todd Gurley. 2013 edition has yet to be seen what they could produce and 2014 could have possible big names as well.

Upper Deck also has a new box layout for the product that is now including 14 hits in an 18 pack box. And with packs running at $5.50 each, you can't really go wrong when most of the time you will get a hit. 11 of those hits will be autographs. There is no other prospecting product like it baseball or football.

So here is my 5 pack break. I got four hits out of my five packs. I don't know the names, yet, but like with any prospecting product, you could soon.

In every pack of USA football you get 12 cards consisting of base from both USA and Canada players.

The base card design is simple, but looks nice. The card stock, high gloss, layout and design is very similar to Upper Deck Victory.

Back of the card

Canada base card

Autograph hits

Jersey card. There are only 2 of these per box and all are most importantly GAME WORN!!

And another thing I like about this product is the amazing patches they come with. I have pulled a nice patch every year. This years comes with one patch per box.
Overall, a great break. Nice looking base cards, future prospect autographs and a nice patch. Can't argue with this product. I strongly recommend you go pick some up before these guys are stars.

Breakin Wax: 2013 USA Football Hobby Box

USA football. This product is the Bowman baseball of football cards with untapped rookies with lots of potential waiting to be shown in a few years. In the 2012 USA product alone were stars from this past seasons College Football in Jameis Winston and Todd Gurley.

In every box of 2013 USA Football is 24 packs with 5 cards per pack, unlike the 2012 edition that came as a full set. There are also 6, yes I said 6, hits per box for only $50. It's a great deal especially for those prospectors.

The base card designs go as follows. They seem to fit the theme here which is a must for a product like this. A new add to this years set is Football Canada which seems a bit out of place for a USA themed product. But, it helped add more depth to the base set.

Team Canada has a yellow color to it's background as opposed to the bluish/white in the USA's.

There are also player trio cards in the base set for both Canada and USA.

Now onto the hits! You should get two-three of each memorabilia and autographed. You will also get a autographed patch card numbered to 49 or less which adds even more value to the break.

Future swatches! I must mention these are all GAME WORN!

Now the autographs. I found my box to be loaded! I call a trio autograph hit to be three autograph hits. I got three sets of three so technically it's nine hits to me. Love looking at some of their signatures as well. If any of these guys become big, it will be interesting to see if they improve on their autographs down the road.

AND A LITTLE BOOM here at the end. A sweet GAME WORN PATCH Gold Parallel WITH AN R numbered 5/5. It's too bad it had to be a defensive lineman, but I will take a nice looking card like this any day no matter the position.
Overall, great value. I won't know how much value til I see how these guys careers go. But, just by getting the six hits for $50 alone is worth it. Especially when you get nice looking autograph and game worn jersey cards.

There are a couple of things I would tweak a little but nothing too serious. One, add some form or insert/parallel to the product so you aren't busting base cards in 18 of the 24 packs in the box. Also, if you are going to add Canada to the product, think of a better name to serve both countries in the box.

Upper Deck NPN Mail Day: 2013 USA Football WITH MUST SEE PATCH

There is nothing better than getting a unexpected mail day and when that mail day is an Upper Deck NPN (no purchase necessary) mail day, you know it's going to be good. This particular one is from the 2013 USA Football.

I think this is probably the sickest patch I own. This is also a great card to have because it's Upper Deck's version of a prospecting product. This one is football. You just never know who could turn big.

Have you ever received an Upper Deck NPN mail day? What's the best card you have gotten?

Hobby Break 'Em: 2012 Upper Deck USA Football

In this edition of Hobby Break 'Em, I decided to break a hobby set of 2012 USA Football to try and get some Jameis Winston in my collection before he becomes too big. Yes, he has had his off-the-field issues, but I think as he gets another year or two under his belt he could easily be a number one pick.

In each box you get the 50 card set. The base cards look like this and Winston is the top card (though not number one in the set):

I thought the base cards look extremely nice and set the tone for rest of the box as they fit the theme of the product.

Possible future stars could be here. You get 8 hits per box including 1-2 autographs and 5-6 game used!

Pretty sweet patch! You get one of these per box!

BOOM! BIG PULL ALERT! Exactly what I was hoping for..a Winston Game Used!

BOOM BIG PULL ALERT X2! A 1/1 Printing Plate!
Overall, you would be stupid to not want to buy one of these. The Winston base card alone sells for about half of what you pay for the set so looking at my break, I way over got my money's worth. Each of these sets go for roughly $40-$50 in most places. I would recommend buying one especially if you are a prospector because you never know when one of these guys will make it to the NFL and if they do you will already have their first card.
