It's back and back with a fury in the latest Pack Wars post. There may be quite a few of these coming up so hope you have been enjoying this series, I am also trying to use up some of my backlogged posts.

Today it's the battle of chromed up Panini products, let's check it out.

Now it's time to hear your vote on which break was better. The Optic had a hit, but the Prizm was lacking theirs. Optic had stronger base cards, but Prizm had better rookies.

CARDBOARD REVIEW:2020 Playoff Football

Playoff football is here and so isn't Playoff football.

I may or many not have saved this review for this time of year. Nothing is more exciting than the NFL Playoffs, especially when the Patriots are out of them.

Let's see if this box break ended up being just as exciting as that,

Every box of 2020 Playoff football comes with 12 packs of 8 cards each. There are 4 hits in every box and boxes are currently running around $220. Which is probably twice what they normally would but looking at how the hobby is going, I can only imagine where these prices are hiking to next.

BASE:

The base set is built up of 300 cards that feature veterans

Legends of the past

And stars of the future. Speaking of stars of the future, you only find one-per-pack and it feels like long odds of actually pulling the bigger stars. Love was my by a mile my best player of the box.

PARALLELS:

You can find the following parallels, Goal Line, Kickoff, Red Zone, 1st Down #/99, 2nd Down #/49, 3rd Down #/25, 4th Down #/10, Touchdown 1/1.

INSERTS:

Inserts offer the following parallels, Blue, Pink, Purple, Red, Silver, Gold #/10, Touchdown 1/1.

I like the chrome technology used on this years inserts. They really stand out, though in some ways, feel out of place with a non base chrome product.

Behind the Numbers has 30 cards to collect. Can't go wrong with the three guys I landed.

Call To Arms has 20 cards to chase

20 cards to fill up Thunder and Lightning set. That Saquon and Slayton is pure fire.

30 cards makes up Rookie Wave. I really like these, especially finding a Burrow.

HITS:

Changing Stripes is made up of players who played for multiple teams. I dig this Dickerson.

Turning Pro. Tua played well and almost led them to a Playoff game up until they met the Bills in Week 17. Wowzah.

And a really tough SSP pull of a Preview Contenders Rookie Ticket auto. This one is /23

FINAL THOUGHTS

The hits were fun, but for me, Playoff was all about those shiny inserts. I really liked those and looked forward to finding them.

When it comes to box price vs what I pulled however, it isn't pretty. Now if that Higgins had been a Burrow that would have changed the story on this one.

REVIEW:2017 Panini Plates and Patches Football

Coming off from a successful 2016, Plates and Patches makes another return with more plates and patches.

I was extremely happy to hear Panini brought this product back as it may be small but can pack a punch.

With only five cards you are really hoping that each card is something good for the price point. Let's check out what the 2017 version provided me

 

In every box of 2017 Panini Plates and 

Patches comes five cards. Those five cards are 1 base, 1 parallel, 1 printing plate, 1 patch auto and one relic. Boxes are $110 per.

The base cards are thick and team color coded for top and bottom borders. There are 100 veterans all numbered to 99, followed by 80 Legends numbered to 75 and ending with 20 rookies numbered to 50. Would be quite the set chase that's for sure.

There are parallels to be found of the base sets of Blue (below) /50, Green /25, Red /10, and Gold 1/1.

And this product has no inserts. So we are off hitting up the hits!

Most all of the hits have parallels of, Blue /25, Green /10, Red /5, and Gold 1/1.

Up first was this slick looking Josh Reynolds Quad relic. has some really sweet patch swatches and football swatches as well. I like the layout and design of these.

 

Plates and Patches also has rookie autograph patches. I think Kenny G had one of the best rookie signatures in 2017. These are numbered to 99 and also have parallels of Blue /50, Green /25, Red /10 and Gold 1/1.

And my final hit the Plates form Plates and Patches, a sick black LT one from Prestige! That's one thing unique about this product. That plates come from multiple products. Last year I found Bo Jackson as my plate.

OVERALL: Even though this was a very short break, I still had a good time. I feel the value in these boxes like any box varies but the 1/1 printing plate should help with some. There is a ton of varitey hits to be found in a break and with it ranging from players from the past, present and future you never know what's hiding.

I definitely suggest breaking a box but if you can't afford to do so, get into a box break of it to help save you on funds but give you a shot at some of the magic.

Random Card Of The Day: Totally Certified Quad Jersey card including Eli Manning/Aaron Rodgers

 

This is one of my favorite cards in my collection. My first Aaron Rodgers jersey card. Of coures Eli. But the design and the 4 great Super Bowl Winning qb's makes it one of my faves.

Review: 3 Retail Packs of Topps Football 2012

Finally got my hands onto some Topps Football 2012.  I liked what I got, but some of it I wasn't impressed with. I definitely did not hit it big at all. I got one card that caught my eye and the rest were just cards.

Wrapper: Andrew Luck..enough said. Tells you how many cards per pack and how many rookies you will get.

Base: Not too bad. The design is nice. I wish they would take it down a little notch with the border. Especially a white one. I do like the team symbol enclosed and the name where its placed. The rookies were great until I found one of those 00 cards. Its a DT. I doubt they were the number 00. I think at most they should have assigned him a number. Looks weird and the card overall looks very photoshopped.

Inserts: I actually like the giveaway cards they insert. However, we wish they gave more cards with those however. I would be happier getting a 1980's base card instead of some worthless virtual item. Which, the site is not open yet to unlock what we might have gotten. When we unlock it, we will post what we get. The Tall Boys inserts are nice, but I am not one for reprint inserts like the Warren Moon. They always feel like a filler insert to me. The blue bordered David Wilson 1957 card design was by far my favorite card in the three packs.

Overall: For retail, its $2 a pack. I didn't get any good rookies. But did get 3 per pack. Got at least 2 inserts per pack. Some base cards. So as for value, it could be there with the right packs. We just picked out the wrong ones. I would assume spending $2 a pack, you would get your money back with the amount of inserts and rookies in a pack.

Review: 2011 Totally Certified Football

First and foremost, I have got to give Tracy Hackler and Panini a shout out for making this box available to us to review for them. Much thanks goes to them. Here is what I got. I was already impressed with the product to begin with and it did not disappoint me.

Box Design: Loved the box design. Probably one of the best I have seen this year. A lineup of All-Stars and top rookies on the cover. I would definitely grab this from a hobby shop!

Wrapper: Matches the box. I wished it did however have a player or two on the front. But overall, not bad looking.

Base Card/Inserts:  I had to combine the two since I must have deleted a picture by mistake. Sorry for that. The Base card design is spectacular. The best design with the dufex technology used. This kind of look makes you want to collect the base set!! The base cards are normally a red back ground. This is a blue parallel we pulled of Brian Urlacher. The only one in the box. But, it is numbered to 50.

Inserts Part Two: Panini did a great job of sneaking in these cards of Pepsi Rookie Of The Week winners of 2011. Loved doing the voting and now having the card in person.

Memorabilia: What more can we say??? They glisten. Very good size of jersey piece in the Certified Future jersey cards and they are numbered to 499.  Heritage Collection jersey of Jim Thorpe!!! Wow! Heritage has a great variety of old time vets and we pulled a nice one numbered to 100. The Stitches in Time is an incredible looking 4 jersey piece beauty. We got 4 Super Bowl winning qb's on ours. This was numbered to 90. We have seen some pretty sick Prime versions of that as well.

Autographs: You get one of these sick cards in every box.  Signed on card. And numbered to 499. We got Vincent Brown of the Chargers who could step in for Vincent Jackson who left. We also got a redemption, not pictured, for a Nathan Enderle Freshman Phenoms Sigs Blue.

Overall: You could tell this product would score high. The only negative was the redemption. Other than that. A solid looking product with tons of potential. The pictures here don't do this product justice. I find this product well worth the $150 per box price tag. And if you try it, you would too!
