Autograph Of The Week:Bill Parcells

Today's Autograph Of The Week was supposed to be of another former NY Giant, but with the mail day I had this week, I bumped that one off and brought in the big gun instead.

My buddy over at Valley Of Cards told me awhile ago he had set a card aside for my birthday, roughly a month ago, and with his surprises you never know what to expect.

This week a bubbler arrived and I didn't have the slightest idea what could be within. So I excitedly ripped open the envelope and there was a post-it note stuck to the top of the card with a note so I couldn't see what it was when I pulled it out.

I slowly peeled the note off and....

Whoa! What a beauty! The Big Tuna himself, Bill Parcells who was head coach of the NY Giants from 1983 to 1990 and led the team to two Super Bowl wins. The Super Bowls were four years apart, hmm that sounds vaguely familiar in Super Bowl 42 and Super Bowl 46 as of recent. Guess the Giants need to win a Super Bowl soon so I can look forward to what happens in 4 years.

The card not only looks spectacular on the front, but is numbered 2/10 on the back.

Bill's record as a Hall Of Famer coach was 183–138–1 with 4 teams as head coach and numerous assistant coaching jobs in the NFL and NCAA.

Kicking Off The New Year Right!

My second to last trade of 2019, came from @Alindz99, that was our first trade ever.

What turned out to be a tweet by me looking for a specific card, which he had and I plan to show off soon in a separate post, turned out to be a whole lot more than that. We boomed out a pretty solid trade for both of us in the long run. It's really cool how that works out.

I tried to hit every part of his PC up and he returned the same for me.

Followed up by Bill Parcells. The Giants have had some great coaches over the years, well except the last few. They need to figure it out again. Coaching can really change a team around.

And a nice surprise to finish, a Xena Warrior Princess auto of Cleopatra. Any new addition to my non sports PC is a plus especially an autograph.

Too Hot To Handle

It's been two years since @oriolesrise and myself pulled off a trade and after seeing a few tweets from him recently, I knew the next was coming.

It was a simple tag of a Rodney Hampton item that helped me uncover so much more I may have usually missed on his Twitter account. I sometimes will miss lots of stuff on there from gaps of not being on for hours at a time. But, I am glad I didn't miss this one.

He had bought an Auction House lot with tons of NY Giants included and there was so many signatures I needed for my collection, I jumped on trying to make a deal. And a deal was made. Cliff is very easy to work with on trades and that's great when you can make both parties happy.

I have been wanting a Fassel autograph for years. He led the Giants to the Super Bowl in 2000 but got butt whooping from that Ravens defense.

And yes, this was the conversation piece that started it all. I was just going to trade for this, but when I saw the rest, had to make that happen. But this piece will be an excellent add for my Hampton PC.

Bill Parcells among a couple other signatures. This is a 1983 media guide which is before Parcells led them to Super Bowl wins. Makes it a really nice piece for my collection.

Thanks to Cliff for the great trade and the new adds. Now I just gotta find a way to display all of it without having any of the autographs fade over time. I must also add that Cliff sent along a surprise few Griffey Jr items as well that I will post another time.

The Big Tuna

I don't know if you have noticed or not, but on the right hand side of this blog I have a list of NY Giants players, etc, that I have been wanting to get an autograph of. Ones I have been lacking in my collection. I hope to keep the list updated as they come in or I know of them coming. This list will also be moved soon to a tab when I remodel the blog some.

Over the past few weeks since I have added that list, I have been able to knock some off of it via trades and other deals. None of which is as big as the one I am posting about today.

 

Here is legendary coach Bill Parcells and it's a beaut from Classic. Also numbered 2/25. You know the number 2 the amount of Super Bowls Bill won as head coach of the Gmen. I don't count all of the other teams he coached. Overall in his Head Coaching career Bill was 172-130-1. He was 11-8 in the Post Season including those two Super Bowl trophies. He was UPI NFL Coach Of The Year in 1986 and 1994 and is in the NY Giants Ring Of Honor and also in the NFL Hall Of Fame. How could I not want this card?

One of my stipulations for finding the Parcells card was he had to be in Giants gear and this fit the bill. Get it?

There is much more to go on my list of NY Giants autographs as there are others I will be adding to it soon. At least for now I reeled in the big fish, well, the big tuna.

I Love The Smell Of A Good Trade

Tim from I Love The Smell of Cardboard In the Morning and I pulled off our first trade in some time but it was a good one. He ended up with a really low numbered autograph card he needed for his PC and I ended up with some pretty sweet PC additions.

I must mention I didn't post pictures of everything. He also sent a good stack of base cards as well. I put the focus of this post into the other items instead but I did appreciate it all.

Surprisingly, I didn't have this Big Tuna card. Parcells was one of the greatest Giants coaches ever. Coughlin is right there with him. If only I could have said that about Ben Mcadoo.

 

Some more Jeets. I must be up over 300 different ones now. I will have to do a tally at some point and put the number on the blog.

 

New #AllRise card I didn't have a sweet Odell Beckham Turkey Red rookie I didn't have either.I like the look of the Turkey Red card.

 

Another new Jeter. If I remember correctly these came off of Skippy Peanut Butter lids.

 

My first Yao Ming rookie card. I can officially take that off the want list. Also another new Odell Beckham Jr rookie. This time it's a Topps Chrome mini. I can't wait to see him back on the field next year. This season has not been the same.

 

Shiny DRC and a numbered Reflections of Odell and Calvin Johnson. Cool card. I really like the Score Parallels.

 

Numbered Princes and a new Engram. Can't believe he didn't make the Pro Bowl still.

 

A pretty sweet Nicks and another new Engram on the top. The photo in this one is pretty similar to the last. Prizm parallel of Odell and a trio of Giants.

1996 Spx baseball help. Still more to go.

 

My first Spx basketball towards getting those. I have a very, very long ways to go to get those sets.

 

Paydirt Sanders to help with that set I am trying to put together.

 

Sick, sick, sick Sterling Shepard card. I think this Certified Cuts product looks intriguing. First I have seen of it.

 

A new Wayne Gallman rookie auto. A great looking one as well. This guy I expect a big year from next year.
