Rodney's Corner:2018 Select Tie Dye Die Cut Autograph

Welcome back for another Rodney's Corner. A place where the Rodney Hampton cards go to escape to paradise.

One of the reasons I came up with this name for the segment was the fact I am cornering all of the Rodney Hampton cards out there. ALL. But, no dupes. One of each of his cards is what I am seeking out. If I get a duplicate on an autograph, I am okay with that.

Today's autograph isn't a duplicate by any means. It's another one from 2018 Select. I have shown off the Tie Dye version and today's is the Tie Dye die cut version. It's the same card basically with the same /25, but it's die cut.

 

It's still a great looking card. Once again I will say this, Panini did an excellent job with Select in 2018. I hope to see it back along with Rodney included. Expect some base cards would be fun to see as well.

Rodney's Corner:A Gift Like No Other

Wow.

First words out of my mouth along with a few air fist pumps when I got a special tweet from @JGfan24ever on Twitter telling me he had picked up an item that was on my Listed Hamptons I Need page.

It wasn't just any item off from the page, it was a very hopeful item. An item I least expected from the list, other than the Red Premium Stock from Certified that is at the top of my list now for sure, was an autographed jersey. It is my first NY Giants autograph jersey in my collection, well, I will call it that even though it sports his jersey from his Georgia Bulldogs days where he rushed for 2,668 yards and 22 TD's in his career which ed the Giants to take him 24th overall in the first round of the 1990 draft.

This new addition will help round out my Super PC more. I think in order to call a Super PC a Super PC, you must have more than cards. You need figures, pictures, autograph items, etc. You need to go all out and this will help me make my case more now but still think I need some more items.

A super thank you goes out to Michael for his generosity. This was totally unexpected and an item I never could have picked up myself. I can't say thank you enough and hope to send a little thank you in return soon.

Still blown away as I type this. Wow. I certainly have some great hobby friends. My real ones should take note.

Rodney's Corner:Leaving A Legacy

I have Rodney Hampton  card as a saved search on eBay so I always get a notification when a new one pops up.

Last week, I checked some of my new notifications for new listings so I checked it out.

To my surprise, I found out that......2019 brings in some new Rodney's from Panini's latest product Legacy.

 

So I immediately did my research and found out there were autograph and base cards and parallels for both as well. Overall, there are 22 new Rodney Hamptons to chase including a dreadful three 1/1's. This now brings the new total of Rodney Hampton card count to 861 in which I have 620 of.

So once again, I will be looking for help from you guys to help fill in my needs! Some of these are already listed on eBay and most are pretty affordable. So let's strike up a trade (unless you want to donate to my Rodney Hampton project)

Rodney's Corner:1997 Leaf Signature Proof

Welcome back to Rodney's Corner folks! The place where the Rodney Hamptons hoard together.

Since this is mainly a 90's blog and since I am mainly what I consider myself a 90's collector, you will see 90's cards on here. Some cards may be ones you have seen before and others may be new to you. My main goal of this blog and these posts is to bring back that nostalgia and hopefully I have succeeded in doing so.

Today, we travel back to 1997 and take a look at a pickup thanks to Wes from 1997 Leaf Signature.

This is a simple parallel, but not an easy one to find. I don't have any odd information on it,

 

But they are limited to 200. Today's cards numbered to 200 are easy to land but back in the 90's a card like this probably had high odds of finding especially if the checklist was bigger. This was the only Rodney one of these I have seen ever. 

I am very thankful to Wes who grabbed this for me and a few others I will be posting soon.

Rodney's Corner:1995 Score Promotional

Another day, another Rodney.

Recently my Rodney Hampton collection has been growing with help from myself and especially my friends. Friends like Wes who recently sent some along that filled some needed gaps. The lot even included a couple of cards I have never seen before.

Like today's. I didn't even have a 1995 Score Promotional card listed on my big Rodney Hampton checklist so I never knew this even existed.

 

It's simply the same Score front as the regular released base card

 

but features the big words PROMOTIONAL written across the back of the card.

I like adding in cards I haven't seen or am familiar with.

 

Speaking of being familiar and unfamiliar with. Here is a compilation of commercial breaks from 1995 I think you will enjoy and bring you back. Some of these I remember well, others I don't. Let me know which ones you do.

A News Breaking Rodney's Corner: Trade With Me!

Today's Rodney's Corner is Breaking News special edition.

It's been two weeks since I have posted up 100 plus cards for trades via PWE with no takers. NO TAKERS. Well, a couple but still there is so much to claim! Maybe it's because none of you have noticed them or the fact I haven't pointed them out til today.

I previously had them off to the side of the blog under pages, but now since have moved them to the top of the blog where I hope they are more noticeable but so far it hasn't helped.

How do you propose a PWE trade with me and what am I looking for in return? That's simple! Have a U.S. shipping address, pick out some cards you want and grab one or more of these Rodney Hampton cards below in exchange for them.

Most of the time I will trade in your favor just to get some of these cards knocked off from my want list that have been sitting in my watch list on eBay forever.

The Hamptons above have a wide range of values for all budgets and there is a ton of trade bait from multiple sports including a lot of autographs I have to offer.

I have already showed you guys the tie-dye autograph, now time to show you the base version that is numbered to 199.

I really like Rodney's autograph and fact he throws in his jersey number in his signature.

 

I was able to cross off this autograph from my needs list thanks to @90sNicheFBcards who also helped knock off many more in this series.

Rodney's Corner:2002 Topps Reserve Autograph Mini Helmet

with the newest segment, Rodney's Corner. This segment will feature all of my newest Rodney Hampton additions. This will still stick with the 90's because it's the era Rodney was from and why I collected him.

Today's item, yes not a card this time,was the one autograph I had left of Rodney's to find up until Panini released it's 2018 products. I was this close to owning every Rodney Hampton autograph on my checklist til 2018.

Now I am four away including three 1/1's. That's next to impossible.

In the early 2000's, Topps came out with the Topps Reserve line and it was spread across a few sports. Every hobby box of the product came with packs of cards and a mini helmet, hat, or other signed item. I think it was a fun concept and even bought a box of the baseball at the time. I did pretty well and will share that when we hit the 2000's in my Origins series.

For years I have been searching for the Rodney Hampton helmet to pop up at a reasonable price and one finally did. With some work of magic from my friend @90sNicheFBCard I was able to land it and cross it off the checklist.

 

I tried my best to capture the autograph magic but it wouldn't show to well through the plastic with so many reflections. But, here's the back of the helmet with the sticker and numbering of the helmet.

Thanks to Bryan for the sweet addition. This was actually one of many Hampton additions he helped me with in our trade.

Today's Rodney was one I have been hunting down for some time.

In 1993, Mcdonalds ran a promo with the NFL with one of their game peel off contests. As always, there was instant win prizes for food and drink, there was a chance at Super Bowl tickets and there were also points you could earn as well and save those towards merchandise and six card sheets of trading cards at a participating restaurant.

For ten points, customers received a six-card sheet that done regionally so you would have a chance at possible favorite players from your favorite teams.

For a few years I have been chasing down the Rodney Hampton card from the set with not help in finding it. A few days ago for fun, I was looking up missing Hampton cards and then boom, for $1 shipped it sat there and I said "yes sir!"

It arrived a few days later. And even though I would have preferred the whole sheet so it was perfectly mint, the card was in good shape and I just needed a copy. Maybe if I found a full sheet later on I will snag it.
