Another post in our new series Hobby Topics. This is not so much a post for us to comment about or give our opinions on, this is your chance to let your voice be heard on a variety of topics in the hobby. We are leaving the floor open to you! So comment away! But please no language and keep your answer clean as we do have a younger following as well.

Today's Topic: Your thoughts on "Player Worn" jersey cards as opposed to "Game Used"

Do you think there should even be player worn jersey cards? Do you prefer game used? Does it really matter to you?

Let's hear your thoughts!

  1. I think it should be very specific. Not just game worn, but certify what game. I'm definitely game used over player worn. I don't get excited because a guy put a shirt on then took it off and then it was chopped up.

I like the cards that have grass stains or dirt marks. Makes it that more awesome to have an actually great card.

  3. When it comes to it..game worn used obviously but player worn is better nothing specified at all.

  4. It's a shame that card companies had to run this concept into the ground. The idea of owning a piece of a player's jersey was one of the coolest things to pull (in my opinion) back in the day. But the fact that they started using jerseys worn in photo shoots, batting practice, and just about any other situation other than in an actual game has hurt the market for these cards. It's not uncommon for me to find memorabilia cards of stars for a buck or less... which is great if you're in the market for these cards.

But to get back to your question... I would much rather own a "game used" memorabilia card, than a "player worn" memorabilia card.

  5. I think it would be very cool to know which game(s) the jersey was from. I guess player worn takes some of the excitement out of it. Its more about having a piece of the action and something that is normally sacred and off limits to fans (the field). But 'anybody' can touch Ryan Braun and his Jersey at a charity event or spring practice.
