Yes, there are many other brands I look forward to the release of, but none of them hits closer to home than Chrome. I have been buying Chrome since 1996 when Topps released the first line. It has always stood the test of time in my collection and without a doubt is my most sought after.
Why? Well it's chromed. And it has shiny stuff. So let's take a look at how I did in my 2019 break of this.
In every hobby box of 2019 Topps Chrome baseball, there are 24 packs of 4 cards each. Been that way since the dawn of chrome time. Each box comes with two autographs and tons of refractory goodness. Boxes currently go for $100.
There are 204 cards in the chrome base set and each one is a chromed version of it's Topps flagship counterpart.
I pulled both top rookies in my break in Vlad and Alonso.
Before I move on, I must mention that there are also 25 base card variations. I didn't pull one in thsi break as they fall 1:247 packs.
Now onto my favorite part of Chrome, the refractors!
Base refractors fall 1:3 packs
Prism refractors fall 1:6 packs
And green wave refractors fall 1:134 packs.
Other refractors you can find throughout the chrome line include,
Sepia,Pink,Negative, Purple /299, Blue /150, Green /99, Blue Wave /75,Gold /50, Gold Wave /50 ,Orange /25, Orange Wave /25, Red /5, Red Wave /5, SuperFractor 1/1, and Printing Plates 1/1.
Now onto the shiny inserts. Most if not all have the following parallels, Green /99, Gold /50, Orange /25, Red /5, and SuperFractor 1/1.
There are 20 cards to collect in the Future Stars insert line. They fall 1:8 packs
1984 Topps brings 25 cards to collect that fall 1:6 packs
Freshman Flash fall 1:12 packs and have 15 cards to collect
Greatness Returns pairs up a popular player of the past with one of the present. I pulled one featuring my favorite two Yankees all time on it. These fall 1:24 packs. I kind of wished there was a Griffey one on the checklist. Get on it for next year Topps!
Now onto my autograph pulls. I never have any luck with these and it continues. I must also remind you that I don't bust Chrome for the hits, I bust it for the inserts/base/refractors.
Thomas Pannone...who?
Steven Duggar? Didn't he have a lot of kids on a popular TV series? Oh wait. Wrong guy This is a refractor /499 that falls 1:!24 packs.
Other hits not found in my box include,
- Dual Rookie Autographs
- 1984 Topps Baseball Autographs
- 1999 Topps Chrome Baseball Autographs
- Freshman Flash Autographs Set
- Future Stars Autographs
- Debut Gear Relics
- Debut Gear Relic Autographs
Once again, the fun came with another break of Chrome. I didn't hit it big, but as I have mentioned on here many times, it's not about the big hits for me. It's about the memories.
So if you want in on a box break of this product without paying box prices, I suggest Midwest Box Breaks as they pull fire!
