The 90's Collection:1993 Topps Gold Phil Simms

Today's Topps Gold parallels are much different than the ones in the 90's. Today's gold parallels usually are just a gold border around the card with numbering of the year the card is released.

The 90's version is simply gold foil on the players name and instead of Topps in the top corner, it was written in gold. This card serves as a 90's PC and a Giants PC. Really like the angle of the photo here as well.

So if we were to battle today's gold parallels vs the ones of the 90's, which one would you vote for?

Nuttin But The Hits:2015 Upper Deck USA Football

I have posted many times about this product. It's one that's packed with autographs of possible future NFL stars. So why not take a chance on this??

Each box comes with 12 hits with a combo of jersey, auto and patch cards. Boxes will run roughly $80.

Some of these guys sign great, other sign EZW lol.

Stricklin's signature is very similar to Rueben Randles...and he is a top recruit to Baylor

Some fun dual autos.

And they come with some pretty slick GAME USED patch cards. Normally I think one is jersey and one is patch per box. I got lucky that's all.

Overall, solid box break as always of this product. Hopefully someday I have found the next HOFer in these boxes. I have many players from a variety of years to keep an eye on.

What do you guys think of this break? Product?

So here is the third round of weekends games towards my Sports Challenge Contest.

In comments, just pick the winners. Please take a second out to put Sat for Saturday games and Sun for Sunday games as I listed them here.

If not, they should be before the next round of games. There will also be ways to earn bonus points and lose points along the way so watch for those days.

Most of all, have fun and good luck!

DON'T FORGET TO READ THIS PART. SEEMS MANY WILL MISS OUT ON THIS AND IT COULD HURT YOUR POINTS!
Bonus Game: (newbies cannot enter this portion since their point total would be 0 but it still won't be a disadvantage with next weeks whopper of a finale)
This is one you will bid some or all of your points on. You know, the ones you have earned up to this point. Get it right, get that amount of points you bid. Get it wrong, well, sorry sunny, you lose that amount!

But, be smart in choosing your point total. You lose em all, you are eliminated from the final week and from this contest.

This weeks bonus game will be......

  1. ***VERY IMPORTANT***MUST BE A U.S. RESIDENT to enter or have a shipping address in the U.S. Shipping costs have gone haywire and I can't afford to ship everywhere. This is always hard to do as I appreciate all readers but I hope you all understand non-U.S. readers.
  2. Top three point scorers will win a prize
  3. Entrants must pick winners for the list of games given. They will mostly be baseball at this point but other sports may be included. There will be special days to earn bonus points or lose them. The last day of the contest, contestants will be asked to gamble their points away to try and out-win others in an ALL OUT BATTLE! In case of a tie for the top three spots, one extra day to earn points will be added just for those in the running. I have seen people win in the past with minimal points before, so make sure you use your points reasonably on the final day.
  4. CardS may be shipped PWE. I like to forewarn on this.
  5. Sport Card Collectors or it's owner (person who runs the blog), WILL NOT be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged mail. Sorry had to add this in since someone tried to scam me once about this.

Sunday's With Rodney:1996 Topps Chrome Refractor

There was nothing more impressive on the market when Topps introduced it's first ever chrome technology cards. I jumped on them pretty fast chasing inserts and parallels. The refractors were the bomb!

I didn't have the Hampton until recently when I pulled off a trade with 90's Niche Football Card Blog.
The first ever Topps Chrome design still stands above the rest with very little border and a cool triangular design in the background.

It also released in a good year with there were tons of HOF rookies to chase.

These refractors fell 1:12 packs or two per box.

REVIEW: 2016 Cryptozoic The Walking Dead Season 4 Part 1 (BONUS HIT AND AUTO GIVEAWAY)

So I only have a few minutes to get this review out to you. I know they are coming and I don't wanna be the next victim....I wanna stay one of the survivors...
In every box of 2016 Cryptozoic The Walking Dead Season 4 Part 1, you get 24 packs with 5 cards per pack. There should be one wardrobe and one on-card autograph per box. Boxes run, like I might have to do soon as the dead are coming into view, $85.
The base set design is nice one with full color photography that captures images from season 4.

There are 72 cards in a base set and you should complete that set in one box.

Now onto the inserts, you should complete each set. I was a bit disappointed that Cryptozoic did not include silver foil parallels for inserts.
These are Character Card inserts. They fall 1:3 packs and are telling you about each main character.

Posters fall 1:6 packs and showcase images you may see on a poster to draw you into the show.

Puzzle Cards that fall 1:3 packs and in the end all 9 cards create...

This nice piece! I always enjoy Cryptozoic's puzzle cards.

Cryptomium parallels probably fall one-per-box like the rest of the products they run or 1:24 packs. This one appears to be of the puzzle piece above.

Now onto the hits. On average there should be one wardrobe and one autograph per box, I pulled a bonus hit in mine. There are also prop cards too that fall at the same rate of 1:24 and are pretty cool.

I pulled key characters as my hits in Rick and Carl Grimes. I really like the design/layout of these as well.

Now onto my autograph. It's on-card like all of their autographs in products are and mine is of Dr.S who is played by Sunkrish Bala.

Key autograph signers in the set are:
  • Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes
  • Jose Pablo Cantillo as Caesar Martinez
  • Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon
  • Kyla Kenedy as Mika Samuels
  • Greg Nicotero, Co-Executive Producer
  • Sunkrish Bala as Dr. S.
  • Scott Wilson as Hershel Greene
  • Chad L. Coleman as Tyreese Williams
  • Emily Kinney as Beth Greene
  • Brighton Sharbino as Lizzie Samuels
  • Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier
  • David Morrissey as The Governor
You can find rest of the checklist, HERE.

You can also find stunning Sketch cards (1:1006 packs) and Printing Plates (1:691 packs).
Overall, before I lose consciousness from being chewed on, I think the product is pretty solid for the price. Base set, insert sets, one on-card autograph and one wardrobe card not to mention possible bonus hits. It's the same price you would pay for a sports product with this amount of hits. Except the values of these never go down.
It also helps that the product looks nice.

Okay, now time for you to find out how to win this autograph:
  1. MUST be a U.S. resident to enter. Shipping costs have gone haywire and I can't afford to ship everywhere. Sorry about this as I appreciate all readers.
  2. Cards will be shipped PWE
  3. Random winners will be chosen after 7 randoms
  4. LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW TELLING ME YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PRODUCT. Do you like it? What would you fix about it? What's your favorite part?
  5. Sport Card Collectors or it's owner (person who runs the blog), WILL NOT be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged mail. Sorry had to add this in since someone tried to scam me once about this.
  6. Contest starts today, ends on Saturday, July 2nd 2016. Winners will be announced in a separate post on Sunday July 3rd 2016.
  7. Earn extra entries by sharing this on your blogs or RTing it on Twitter. Make sure to comment with your links of doing so or I cannot count it.
  8. Please make sure to thank Cryptozoic for their generosity in sending this box to review and host a giveaway. Give them a follow on all social media sites please. Also while you are at it, check out their website HERE as well for your non-sport trading card needs!
Good luck to everyone who enters!

Reminiscing 90's SPECIAL EDITION:1989 Kenner Real Ghostbusters Janine Melnitz Super Fright Feature Figure

Alright, I have some explaining to do. Yes, this segment is called, Reminiscing 90's. Yes, this is a toy from 1988. Yes, I do know the difference between 90's and 80's. However, I am making a case for this toy and keeping the segment still 90's because I watched the show mostly in the 90s and it ran from 1986-1991. So in order to make sure I do this right, I am keeping the toys as their real years, but I am coming up with random year of either 1990 or 1991 for the posts. That way it's as close to realistic as I can get and keeping tradition going with the posts.

I think my timing on this upcoming Ghostbusters mania is good due to the new movie releasing this year. I still don't know how I feel about that movie yet as I am one for originals of any movie, but we will see.

Thanks for reading and enjoy!

Key notes for June 25th 1991:
June 25th 1991 was a Tuesday
George H.W.Bush was President
Most Popular Movie released in June of 1990 was Boyz In The Hood
Most Popular Book around this time was Oh By Dr. Seuss
Billboard Hot 100 number-one single on June 25th 1991 was Rush Rush by Paula Abdul
Most Popular TV Shows: Salute Your Shorts

FEATURED TOY:
It's simple, Janine is scared. So scared that she rotates to fight off the ghosts! This piece came in that big lot I bought off eBay. It was quite the lot for only $25. Today marks the final part to my Ghostbusters series even though I do have more to show. But, it's time to move on.

FEATURED CARDS:
DC Superheroes+Janine..well...yes. She was a superheroe to some answering that phone non-stop for the ghost calls. She also went out on a few ghost chase herself. So to me, she is a super hero.
These are 1991 DC COMICS COSMIC

I have a whole box of these things that I throw in trades sometimes. So if you have ever traded with me, you may have found yourself a pack or two.

Well, that marks the end of the Ghostbusters series but there are more 90's fun to show off ahead. Your thoughts on the Ghostbusters finale are welcomed.

REVIEW:2016 Cryptozoic DC Comics Justice League Trading Cards

I am more of a DC guy than a Marvel guy, so when it comes to comics and card related, I prefer a product I can more relate to and one that involves Batman is good in any nature to me.

So here is a break of Cryptozoic's latest release.

In every box of 2016 Cryptozoic DC Comics Justice League Trading Cards there are 24 packs with 5 cards per pack. There seems to also be a box topper as well in a big toploader. You can find one sketch card per box and the boxes run you around $82.

The box topper I don't have any info on other than they seems to feature a character and their bio from the Justice League. I assume you will find one per box.

Back:

Front:

The base cards are written and artistically done by DC Comics writer Adam Beechen.

The base cards are very visual appealing and also have a very glossy back, are tad thicker than normal base and have a rough front surface. Not like the rest of the Cryptozoic cards that are usually high in gloss. It would be fun to submit some of these in to be signed as the surface would be great for that.
There are 63 cards in the base set which one box should complete it for you on average.

Silver foil parallels. Once again, lacking some info on odds for these but looking at the number of them I landed, I assume 1:3 packs will get ya one. They cover both the base set and insert sets.

Now onto the inserts. I believe you complete every set of them per box. Except the Batman Classic TV series Cryptomium Reissue cards that only fall one-per.
Model Sheets fall 1:4 packs. It's literally a model sheet and displays the color theme of each featured superhero and has a back and front look at each.

All-Star Comics fall 1:4 packs. Displaying cover art for some of the covers.

Madame Xanadu Tarot Cards fall 1:4 packs with a featured hero and a Tarot name for each. Such as Superman known as The Hero and Batman as The Detective.

One of my favorites from the product are these Retro's that fall 1:6 packs. These look really cool and my favorite of the group is Batman's. But overall, the color scheme and look on these are quite remarkable.

Batman Classic TV series Cryptomium Reissue cards fall 1:24 packs. These are Crytomium "chromed" cards of the original Batman cards from the 60's I believe.

And now onto the hits, I pulled a Sketch card. Very cool and signed by the artist on the back. All of these are 1/1's. My back of the card picture never uploaded for some odd reason and I will try again at some point.

You can also find other pulls. such as Totally Fabricated costume cards (1:192 packs), Replica Patch cards (1:96 packs), Printing Plates (1:192 packs) and Hall of Justice die-cut sketch cards (1:192 packs). All of which are really cool.
Overall, a very nice looking product from top to bottom. The price is a bit steep for the one sketch card per box and that's my only concern. But, you also gotta consider getting a full line of complete insert sets and a full base set in the box value too along with some other parallels. Some boxes may also give you an extra hit which is the usual for a Cryptozoic product.

I will also throw in, it's really hard to do a product like this and find enough "hits" to put in. Kudos to Cryptozoic for their creativity to come up with some unique ones like the Totally Fabricated costume cards. Just like the Totally Fabricated Slime cards they did for Ghostbusters. It's enough to draw collector's attention.

Also, if interested, here is the downloadable checklist.
Bloggers Note:
Look for some of these cards in future giveaways. Thanks to Cryptozoic for providing this for a review and for future giveaways. You can check them out HERE.

1997 UD3 Baseball Box Break Overall Thoughts+Recap

In what was a three-week on the edge of your seat pack by pack break, 1997 UD3 baseball came to an end.

So what was my thoughts on it. Read on!

The box started out on fire in the first pack finding both Jeter and the featured box guy in the first pack. My man, Junior.

There were no big pulls such as no autographs or Marquee Attractions, but I did pull the inserts that were expected in the box that fell at 1:11. Not bad players, just not the Jeter I was hoping for.

In the end, day by day, you guys could tell I was chasing the set. Well, I can sadly say, I didn't accomplish that feat. Todd "bleepin" Greene didn't show his face. Yes, I was one card short. One. If there had only been one less double and one more Greene I would have had the set. But I am sure it won't be an expensive thing to add to finish my set.

Even though I was a card short on the set and didn't pull anything huge, I did pull two nice inserts, some great players and most important of all, had a ton of fun. If all it took was $25 to do that, I think it was worth it at the end of the day.

So now I pass it onto you guys.

What do you guys think? Was this break worth it? Are you going to miss these posts? Want to see more future segments done like this?

REVIEW:2015-2016 Panini Revolution (BIG BOOM)

The 90's are back! Well, at least some of it.

When Panini first announced the return of Revolution, a Pacific brand back in the day, I didn't know what to think. But, after opening this box, I felt a trip back to memory lane and it made me feel all warm inside. Even though Panini never really made a reference between the two sets, those of us who collected in that era and know the product will simply remember the similarities.

Read on to see the rest of my thoughts.

In every box of 2015-2016 Revolution basketball, you will find 8 Packs Per Box with 5 Cards Per Pack. Each box also comes with 7 Parallels, 4 Rookies, and 3 Inserts. No guaranteed hits. It's also been said that 98% of the autographs will be included in the product and that ALL of the autographs in the product are ON-CARD AUTOS! Boxes will run you depending on where you by from $50-$60

Find at least one autograph per inner case.
The base set is simply as I remember it in the 90's, a sparkly masterpiece. There are 150 cards in the base set featuring 100 veterans and 50 rookies. All cards feature vivid foil patterns that parallel out to different levels of rarity. Stay tuned for the parallel version talk after the jump.

Here are the rookies I pulled. Nobody big...right now anyways.

L
You can look for one Cosmic, Sunburst or Futura parallel  per box, all of which are sequentially numbered to 100 or less. Stay tuned for the big boom on that.

I will do my best to explain the parallels, but you are better off going HERE on Panini's blog to see them all. They all have just one tiny difference that is easiest to see on their scans on the link.

Here is a Nova and Infinite parallel both falling at 1:6 packs. Nova is on the left.

More infinite parallels...

More Nova....

Cosmic numbered to 100 pull.

And the huge boom, Futura numbered to 25 of MVP Steph Curry. Man it's a beauty of a card.

My other insert pulls. All of which fit the theme of the overall product.

This one if pretty cool. It's a die cut.
And my box wasn't lucky enough to pull an autograph from. But, you know what? That doesn't bother me. I think the price is reasonable, the cards look nice, and it's built like a 90's product. It's built from the base cards up. The autographs are tougher pulls, but it also adds value to them.

So I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a product. If you are looking for a big pull or per hit box product, well, you may want to look elsewhere. Even though some nice pulls are waiting here. If you are looking for a fun product that will take you down memory lane, well, this if for you.

Small risk, possible good return here. The parallels once figured out, are worth more than you think and even base cards of good players have book value of $1 or more which hasn't happened since the 90's.

Thoughts on this product are appreciated!
